Jeez man, are you hourly?

The happiest and most congruent I've ever been is when I'm playing or making music. And every time I do, I always think why don't I do this more. I'm seriously trying to schedule my life so this becomes first nature.

Danswift - Here We Are One Time (Original Album Mix)
JHouse replied to danswift's topic in MEMBER AUDIO & VIDEO FILES
I always wanted an MPC 2500, but once I got it and modified the pads so they were more sensitive, I sold it. The work flow sucked and even though I upgraded the pads, they still weren't that sensitive. Basically had to hit them to get any sound. Also, I remember Pete telling me the pads on the Maschine MK3 were "silky smooth and sensitive" and overall, he said it was an awesome piece of kit. So, I bought that instead and have loved it ever since, especially after moving away from a PC to a 2013 Mac Book Pro. Besides all that, yeah danswift, the stuff you're laying down is dope dude. Mad props all around son. -
It's really common for artists to avoid starting a new project, thus working on a blank canvas. I go through this with web design, but once I get going, I can't stop as I f'n love it. Naturally though, I have to stop, sleep, then start again, but this is where I was getting stuck. What started working for me several years ago was "tricking myself." For instance, I would just look at a site I'm working on, see something small that needs fixing, then fix it. Then I would tinker with something else, and before I knew it, multiple hours went by and I got a shitload done. I call it the snowball effect. We often wait till we're motivated to take action, but it's really the action that gets us motivated. Also, when I blaze up, I just want to make something. I need to apply the above to making music. I put about 10-15 hours a week into live finger drumming on my drum machine, but I haven't made any tracks, let alone beats or even loops. Having deadlines really helps me too, and on that note, I wish we had the beat battles bangin' again. Anybody want to take it over and light a fire under our asses? I would love to get involved!!!

Thanks. Yeah, I've been seeing a gangload of Mixing and Mastering videos on YouTube over the last year, therefore didn't really know where to start. I'll pass this video on to homie and probably check it out myself 'cause I'm interested too.

Were there any tutorials that stuck out to you in terms of mixing and mastering? My friend is making some dope ass beats, but the M & M is awful. I think if he gets this down, his beats and tracks will be pro.

Looks dope. Feeling that background slate blue, as well as the overall clean layout. Seems like a chill spot to create. The " crazy geometric wallpaper" would likely make it 'busy' and a little chaotic, so prolly best you didn't apply it to the walls.

I haven't seen this either, but certainly looking forward to it.

New albums from older hip-hop artists that are actually good?
JHouse replied to Steve's topic in MUSIC/DJ RELATED
The new PE album is okay, although I'm not surprised 'cause I haven't really liked any of their stuff post Apocalypse '91. That being said, the track they did with ICE-T "Smash The Crowd" on their latest record is dope. All albums from Run The Jewels (RTJ 1-4) are badass all the way through. While they may not seem like old school hip-hop heads, they've certainly been in the game for a long minute. I think they are one of the best things to happen to hip-hop in ages. Props to Lorde for bringing them on tour with her a few years back like Madonna did with the Beastie Boys in the 80's. -

I don't know. Just learned that if you make fun of any of the many gold framed portraits or paintings around Thailand, you could end up in the clink. -
Just the info I was looking for. Thanks.

Would you mind sharing your process for recording and exporting your videos to both YouTube and InstaGram? I recently started using IG and noticed early on I couldn't upload photos or videos from my desktop and thus have to use a mobile device, but it would be ideal to do everything from my PC. Also want to use screen dimensions that look good on both YouTube and IG. Could use some input here sir.

Years back, when I was living in California, I hit up this dude on Craigslist selling his MPC. I asked him if he would be down to trade a few ounces of prime herb for his AKAI. This was before weed was legal there for recreational purposes, but it was okay for medical. Anyways, he replied with "Dude, you're fuckin' stupid. How do you know I'm not an undercover cop?" My response was 'Because cops don't have drum machines.'

That GOALS' photo is hilarious. Can't wait to check out this beat tape.
