  1. Just a bit of shameless self promo to let you know that I had a guest mix aired on DJ Kayper's show on BBC Asian Network, as part of the Hype "Mixtape Challenge" this past Wednesday.

In short, every week Kayper does the "Mixtape Challenge" on her show, where she challenges a DJ to fit 3 or 4 Desi tracks into a 15 minute mix of any genre; be it cutting them up, remixing/re-editing them, etc...

Previous DJs who've taken up the challenge include Crookers, MJ Cole, DJ Craze & DJ Yoda, so as a result, this mix showcases a lot more scratching, a whole mixture of genres, and some re-editing which I've done in Ableton. I hope you enjoy it!

Oh, there's also a brief interview with me at the start too...You can all witness how...erm...monotone/quiet I am lol...

  3. Easy chaps,

I'm looking to get a MIDI Keyboard to use with Reason 4 & Ableton Live 6 LE....I'm looking to spend between up to about 150 quid, and am torn between getting a smaller one (due to portability, as well as lack of space), or actually making the space and getting one that's medium-sized (up to 47 keys)

Any recommendations? I've been told that the M-Audio series aren't too bad to start off with...

  4. I've thrown together a Christmas Mix to get you in the festive spirit...There's a nice mixture of classic Christmas tracks, to Hip Hop, Dirty South, and even some Miami Bass & a Baltimore Club edit from yours truly....Nothing too fancy, was done on Ableton really quickly last night...

  5. My latest Weekly Mix if you're interested...I've missed out a few gems, but had to in order to avoid biting Shorkut's "Going Uptown" Mixtape....

Nothing too technical, a couple of cuts and juggles here and there to keep you entertained too...

  6. I was really disappointed with the standard at UK DMC in 07

Oi, watch it! Post a file Lembot! :d

On the real, I don't think a lot of people were happy with their '07 sets (moi included)...

Regarding the BPM Battle....Yes, everyone could have been a hell of a lot tighter (no homo), but it was on crowd reaction, and Weet got the most noise...

Furious P & Sinical were better on a technical level, and imo it should have been them in the final stage (I'm slightly biased, but hey that's my opinion), but the only DJ that came through with stage presence/entertainment was Weet.

A lot of DJs are too "heads down" these days. I think showmanship needs to come back into the game.

  7. I need to put on someone for our night that is going to be a draw coz times are tuff for clup promo these days. I was wondering if you guys have seen anyone good recently? we can get format or woody for decent money! but I was hoping to get someone that is less obvoious but can still bring in the punters any ideas?

I'm going to be cocky and say "me".

Although I'm not as famous as I'd like to think....

  8. #41 in my series of Weekly Mixes for 2008.

Whilst the whole Master P thing was a running in-joke on Skratch Alienz, "Ghetto D" was/still is a dope album...

    Cheers!

  11. Cheers for the ideas/advice dudes....

It's crazy, because up until a couple of years ago, I had some pretty good stage swagger going on (especially with Battle for Supremacy!)...Now it all seems to have gone kaput!

Mind over matter I s'pose, and all that razzmatazz!

the best way to get over stage fright is to be good at what you're doing.

LOL! That is partly true as well!

  12. So, I've started doing some small showcases this year....And the stage fright has come back!

Up until last year, I was pretty ok with going up on stage and scratching....But nowadays unless I'm doing a club set, I suffer from stage fright....No idea why - but the shaky hands and stiff arms have come back to haunt me....

    'tis well ghey....

Any of you dudes suffer from such a problem? If so, anyone got any tips for overcoming it?

  13. Hey dudes,

I'm looking to get a pair of decent monitor speakers to run with my PC for helping me master/mixdown my mixtapes & blends/mashups to a better standard....

I've heard a lot of good reviews about the KRK speakers....but not sure which would be best suited for my setup (my stuff's all in the bedroom)....

I'm a bit of a technophobe when it comes to shit like connecting things together etc, so any help/advice would be great....

I'm assuming that with powered monitors, I wouldn't need another amp/mixer would I?
