  1. Gwarnin I know I'm not on here very often, I'm very technologically inept. Mate of mine has given up on his love affair with his numark tables and is gonna go for his first set of technics. Any ideas where to go for a good pair second hand? Tony 'DJ' Switch
  2. Actually mate I've found it makes setting up in other places much harder. Every where I've been and taken it, everyone else whouses their own Serato has tried to plug in direct but can't because they haven't got the 57 drivers installed, so they have to plug their box into the back of the mixer - absolutely pointless. So unless any other Scratch users get their own setup, it makes setting up everything a bit of a pain.
  3. The cheapest way of getting a 57 is going to dmcs and winning the f*cker
  4. The secret to eternal life is...click on either of the bpm tap buttons once, then type am and the track titles should vanish. Yer I have noticed people do that, my dad did it to me once as well!
  5. I find that hip hop nights are very unreliable where crowds are concerned, it's just hard nowadays to pull in enough heads, if there are enough around. Foly start exploring that other sh*t, I was stunned when I was doing a gig with Shiftee last week and he pulls out his electro house set. I was seriously shocked - 'what? you're an American hip hop battle DJ?' I know we DJs are getting versatile and there's even a bit of stereotypicism in there but I was taken aback nontheless. I guess I'll be exploring house music in the new year...
  6. 'Ello peeps, long time no see Came across this little vid yesterday, 'tis Fly's winning set for this year, shot when he was spinning alongside Q-Bert and Premier. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCvj9Scn5Do Let's start the debate then: I loved his set. Granted, we need to see a world champion using original records (cough ) and some bits were a little drawn out, but you really need to hear this set through some quality speakers/surround sound. It sounds fantastic. It's also one of the few winning sets that just shouts "i'm gonna win this" from the outset, and the amount of orchestral elements in it can't help but make me think it's part of the soundtrack to The Matrix or summat. Oh yeah, and I'll need to watch it twenty times to get my head rond some of those juggles Payce Tony Switch
  7. Dope! Us Bionic Stylus geezers were considering going in wedding dresses and clown masks...
  8. Cool idea Giz, I'll be down for both days doing stuff for Road Ready, not battling or anything I'll have done nuff a dat already. Should be a good 'un
  9. I feel like I should have more posts to my name to truly be representing dv...

  11. My dad found audio coverage of this year's finals, sadly without any recordings of sets but plenty of interviews with a lot of the DJs. And they did record MC Trip's intros, Tony Prince's banter, and Skully's speech, and he does indeed namecheck David Ike! www.pyroradio.com is the link
  12. You haven't seen my Jurassic 5 / Nat King Cole routine then I'm relieved as me and me posse were going to meet up tomorrow to get stuff sorted for pressing records, thankfully we won't have to go to that expense. Plus having seen C2C's Beatorrent show a few times, and their use of MPC-esque trigger buttons with Serato, in amongst the standard mixing, scratching and juggling they throw in, I don't really see it being a major problem. I was fairly bored with some of the shows in the teams last year, too many sounded like they should've put a record on and f*cked off for 6 minutes. It's doubtful that people will wholly resort to button stabbing anyway, but I've got quite a few routines on the line which could only be done using cue-point triggers mid-juggle.
  13. The short answer to that, Face Melt, is no, not really. Basically some of the DMC branches have been pushing for some digital element to be allowed into the championships in some form. As the teams is the most experimental category of the three it was decided to use equipment in that one. It's also worth pointing out that any digital software is being allowed, so not the serato equivalent of the ortofons-only rule. The DMCs are also sponsored by several different companies, par exemple CK1 (a clear combination made in heaven - DJs and aftershave) and Drunknmunky (hip hop clothes line) to name two.
  14. I think the results were pretty much spot on as well, I had a couple of needle skips which pissed me off no end but no one else seemed to notice. Skully was tight, clean, and slipped in his standard trademarks. The biggest shock for me was the fact that virtually all the judges had me, Skul and J as the top 3 (in some order). Jeppa came 4th with 1 point. Tony misannounced the scores, Jon, (he mucked up announcing me prizes on the supremacy as well), J and I got equal points but he got 2nd because he had a few higher placings. Fair enough, it made sense to have me as 3rd than Jeppa really and split 2nd between us.
  15. Greetz, Q-Bert is doing a short UK tour this year - 2 gigs to be precise - one is at Fabric, London and the other at the graffiti covered Rainbow Warehouse, with Funktion One soundsystem, in Birmingham (the one that Q himself is looking forward to). Scratch Club are running the second of these gigs (in Brum), and at the time of writing, there are just under 30 discount tickets still available for it. There has been an overwhelming response for them, and once they will run out only full price tickets will be available. If you want to get your hands on some then please click on the following link: https://www.theticketsellers.co.uk/buy_tick...ts/?id=10004602 Support acts for September 13th include: automaton (satamile records) dj switch (2x UK DMC Champion) mc xander (live shamanic beatbox explorer) the mc mash clan (braindrop, london) plus residents: sammy b side, the doctor, malicious, redbeard, mr fx, madman the greatest, paul miles and dj spats hosted by bass6 Ta, Tony
