  1. At 20 quid a pop i'd rather go see someone for a social and try it, than buy a can if possible - particularly since i cut about every 7th full moon
  2. 70s: early 70s great rnb/soul/rock/jazz mid 70s soul/rnb is pretty shit but metal was born late 70s disco (and shout outs to punk)
  3. There are some awful ones from Clapton in the 70s where he's beyond pissed, and he's also a nasty belligerent drunk. There was a doc about him on BBC4 in November, pretty dark. Have you seen Supersonic the Oasis doc? A great watch, but when they were trying to break the US they were using crystal meth (which Noel describes as "speed for ninjas" lol). Whoever wrote the setlists for this one gig, wrote all the lists in different orders but they were too fucked to notice they were all trying to play different songs cos they'd been up about 2 days IIRC!
  4. Can't comment on the features but they definitely look nice!
  5. second this, now on to the Tony Prince one! Interesting interview, fair play to Tony (Prince..) never actually knew that he started mixmag. ....or that he was responsible for the fall of communism Have you listened to Tony on the Trailblazers podcast? That's good too.
  6. I think the first person I heard who I realised was fucking unreal in comparison and maybe stopped me being a nob was hearing Dub Seven cutting at DJs for Life
  7. I probably thought I was pretty decent pretty early on. I was an entitled little bell end with delusions of excellence.
  8. Whod buy new DJ Shadow without checking it first?!?!
  9. Yeah its pretty funky, nice composition & drum patterns, but needs some TLC on the sound design/engineering though. I cant speak on whether its engineers or sound designers or sample packs, but trap shit even if you arent a fan, tends to be sonically pretty impressive. Hope that helps
  10. I havent got a problem with a few DJs benefiting a lot from the $3 option - fair play to them What I do thing is questionable is channels like soul cool who have uploaded loads of great mixes but that arent their own. I appreciate having a way to listen to these, but dont think they ought to be paid in the way mix creators/curators should be.
  11. Maybe not you or I, but maybe there are people it will benefit. Do you deserve the check? Ultimately we're all trying to capitalise on other people's music, so we've gotta eat it if we don't get paid. I got kicked off Soundcloud with about 200K plays for copyright infringement cos I was posting mashups. it's not my music so what place do i have to complain? You could say the same for Netflix though, no? I'd prob get more value from a Mixcloud sub than Netflix Apologies for a lack of good grammar - been a looooong day!
  12. People are really gonna moan at a subscription model? Theres a fuck ton of content on there, youve had it free for years, they tried to monetise for artists from the start and now theyre trying to monetise for the DJ too...whats the problem with that?
  13. On a slightly related theme, i've always found search functions on forums to be rubbish. I'd tend to do exactly the same as OP.
  14. That's definitely reasonable. And if dude tries to go cheap, then say no. People taking low pay for skilled work is a problem in all sorts of industries.
  15. Can't imagine the pitch meeting about Ecco. "I've had an idea for a game where you're a dolphin and you fight aliens" "You WHAT?" I think it's lame that these mini consoles come with so few games.
  16. He had a good business mind, did some interesting mixtape shit independently at one point. Here it is https://www.forbes.com/sites/natalierobehmed/2013/11/06/rapper-nipsey-hussle-and-the-100-mixtape/#5ad771214bc0 Can't really speak on him lyrically but I had this on heavy rotation for some time.
  17. This SHOULD work but its just wank - the Shane Richie version is worse but its Shane Richie so theres no surprise
