  1. Sy that's a more tricky one for benji - I'll ask tho
  2. Yo. Thanks for the props but the main work was done by the amazing Benjji Crone at http://contentinstereo.com who did a lot of the build. If you need a swish looking site they know what they're doing and even gave me WordPress training too ! Thanks for the feedback so far, I'll fix those things mentioned. Keep em coming ! Jimmy - you should come to the next one !
  3. In a planned attempt to steal the thunder from Eric's "professional services" site, I spent the weekend locked away putting the finishing touches to the revamped SuperScratchSunday website. Actaully Doob's mate did the bulk of the work and setup the templates months ago, just leaving the content to sort. All the content has been updated and backfilled (execpt a few missing pic's) with even the event page going back to the very first SSS, so now we have just have tedious task of keeping everything resonably up to date. It would be good if i could get some free proof reading anyone is interested in taking a look and pointing out if anything could be fixed / improved / spelt properly :-) Also, If you are a SSS regular and want your details up on the "regulars" section , then please pm me a mug shot and a short bio. P.S. SuperScratchSunday December details almost finalised .... gonna be our best yet hopefully.
  4. Got an app called show box. Probably dodgy. It's got free links to streamed movies and tv shows. I set it to play via allcast and then I can watch everything on a tv via chromecast :-)
  5. I reckon groups is a bad idea, as Steve said , you'll end up with a mix of strong or weak groups , where a winner of a weak group goes ahead of someone one better but in a stronger group. I think the judging criteria is spot on. Technicality includes flow imo , it a not just executing a sequence of movements, they have to be on time and make sense. Musicallity is about composition (arrangement of technique) and sample choice .that's it. Regarding public votes, No matter what way you look at it, if there is a public vote people will need to choose a top 8 or whatever number. I don't get why that's to be avoided. Yes its hard, however over the number of people involved it should make the trends statistically significant regardless of variation in that top 8 or whatever. Tbh the system works. I think there was some pretty shitty voting and it's easy to see if you compare against the judges choices. Of all things this battle can't be another popularity contest.
  6. aww difficult call - Sy's my mate - flow was ill and i especially like the needle dropping .. but i went for JP and for me i feel like he murked everyone in this round - there's a lot of original cuts / fresh rhythm in there.
  7. only tried a few as i keep getting stuck on each beat - some of the most inspiring i heard for a while :-)
  8. The jam is once every two months, last one end of Aug, so the next one should be late October early November. Will share the details as soon as they are finalised.
  9. Cave man was def an early influnce (already mentioned) . This sprung to mind and hasn;t been mentioned yet .. ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCCkN-Z2hWI BTW anyone else do the Scorzyzee kickstarter ?
  10. Well, being a last minute jobbie the jam was a bit of a bust to begin with, but by the end of the evening a couple of rooftop regulars turned up for a cut and so did US team champs CTA. There was some vid and pic's taken so i'll try grab those to share. Re. post DMC Super scratch sunday jam - we were all pretty gutted that there was really a good time to do the jam - as expected most DMC competitors were flying in through the day and have stuff planned for Sat evening. Most were flying out on Monday at various times with bits of luggage and filthy hangovers and i doubt it would have worked either. @mekon - keep an eye out for Super Scratch Sunday on here and Facebook - the jams are normaly within an hours drive from the M25 / around an hour by train from central London.
  11. as wax said .... recent beat i made .. https://soundcloud.com/kutclass/kutclass-scam-dope recent mixtape .. http://www.mixcloud.com/kutclass/
  12. Bit last minute, but there's gonna be a scratch jam tonight (Sat 4th Oct) in shoreditch 7 - 11 (Sat 4th Oct) Rockwell House10-14 Hewett Street, EC2A 3NN London, United Kingdom everyone welcome !
  13. yup , i'll be there again this year. We really wanted to do a super scratch sunday post dmc jam again this year, but becase DMC is doing it on the sunday, we dunno when is a good time to do it :-(
  14. Ahh wicked, just saw this thread. I've been needing a second power supply for a 06 pro a, so I don't have to keep ferrying the one I have between my listening setup and studio. Someone was gonna sell me a vestax one (and I'm in no rush) but after reading this I think I'll give rasteri's link a go. Cheers beys :-)
  15. Might make a lil pdf book if anyone's interested (sighs and adds to list of projects)
  16. I started keeping my own book after this thread and went through a few sites collecting interesting ttm. Johnny 1 move half made a scratch wiki , the links somewhere on this site , don't think google index it anymore.
  17. 1.Chinmachine 2.Chmielix 3.Jesuskut 4.DJ CHell 5.DJ Biox 6.Redmist 7.Symatic 8.Mighty Atom
  18. i think i said this in another post.. i'm happy with top 8 , it stops the battle from dragging on and people loosing interest, extra round = extra long battle. BUTin the first round voting i think we should vote for top 10 or 15 (but just 8 go through) so that at laest in just the competitor votes we get an idea of who the outsiders were, as overall the lists for the top 8 should mostley contain a fraction of the competitors.
  19. Less than 24 hours and votes are already coming in :-( you'd hope people would watch the vids more than once and show a little bit of integrity/attention to the marking criteria...thank God this isn't a popularity contest and voting for your mate only makes you look like a goon as public vote doesn't really count.
  20. I use serato dj. It's free to download but you need the right box/mixer for compatability - i think sl1 and ttm57 have been left out (and maybe sl2). I found the tiny bit of latency in Live that was making cutting a chore seemed to go away with DJ , but thats probably computer specific and everyone i've told hasn't really felt that. Tbh i still just use it for vinyl emulation and the basic cue/loop stuff . Thats kinda improved a bit - 8 cue points now and the saved loops layout is much better. I've been told that DJ is mising some features that were in Live - the only one that springs to mind is the 33/45 buttons have gone in internl mode. I know other have mentioned missing stuff , but not stuf i use...
  21. Rockwell has summed it up best for me. It's really annoying to have shit loads going on in the uk scene (recognised globally) to then have some who doesn't scratch ( but will name drop his dj friends n the amount he's spent being their groupie) and is not involved in the scene or promoting the scene or doing any work in it or to find out about it , turn round n say there is no scene :-( in the name of fairness if someone can tell where Ida participates except on their own fb pages every now and again, I'll do this Ice bucket thing.
  22. mfsop - bang on mate ! I;m pretty sur our version is the "official" version ... and yerrr now you point it out, looking at chiles i see the 2 click orbit in the fader hand over the babies .... nice , another open fader cut to add to the arsenal :-)
  23. awww yeahh .. bbq pitmasters + scratching .. we could called it scratchnom :-)
