  1. but yes, texas pete, they are literally the sime "size" *applause* you can get dvd's that do up to 8g these days i think....
  2. file splitter. http://www.dekabyte.com/filesplitter/download.html dodgy tho. better off using a DVD...
  3. no no no! you are COMPLETELY missing the point... this is not for sharing with OTHERS its for you and you only (unless you really fancy giving other people passworded access to your machine?!) The POINT is that if you are using someone elses computer you can still get to your music! The reason why i bothered was because i was doing a lot of work in lab and all my latest tunes wont fit on my iPod, so i wanted to try and get my music to the lab over the internet... I'm sure i cant be the ONLY person in this situation... :s
  4. yeah but that doesnt help much if you go to and use someone elses computers and still want to access your music! (well, except the iPod... but still... you can nescessarily fit all your tunes on there )
  5. the profiles exist in all versions... the difference is that they only appear under certain circumstances. for example, if one ff process has hung and you open another one it will not be able to communicate with the old process so it thinks you are a new user (this is usefull on multiple user systems like linux, macOS and even under fast user switching in 'doze) if you use virtual desktops, it thinks you have multiple users when you switch desktops if you start 2 ff's simultaeneously by mistake or for whatever reason, ione locks the profile but the other cant communicate with the first until it has fully initialised == profile mishaps. the feedback agent problem - i would recommend clicking next and going through it. that will probably kill it, or type about:config in the address bar and see if theres an option in there to disable it... i cant see one immediately but i have never seen the feedback agent, and i've used FF on all 3 OS's without problem (and from early releases too) hope that clears some stuff up and helps you!
  6. yeah this sticks to the itunes proto- i.e., you can listen to it but its still encoded in the stream and you cannot copy it. its not illegal because it requires authorised access to the machien its being shared from via an SSH connection (which mac and linux machines are natively capable of, windows takes a a bit of a poking but it can too) and so its all gravy. I find it kinda useful cos it means i can listen to all my tunes wherever i go, because my iPod is too small for my collection so yeah... given decent bandwidth it isnt bad.
  7. but of course! i seem to remember a trip to the gower in the back of marks volvo yeah you wanna see this HMV thingy though, i'ts wicked. I'll try get a pic of it.
  8. Dunno if you folks know/care, but its possible to get iTunes to share your musics over the internet witha bit of jiggery-pokery.... managed to get it working the other day and it works like a charm. I would guess theres a way to get it working on windows, and I'm fairly certain it will work on most Mac set-ups ... if anyone's interested let me know and i'll explain. takes a little bit to do so i wont bother if no one cares like!
  9. Am recently I switched from windows to Linux in 2003, which was slightly painful, but educational and character building. then got a job at a newspaper (wehre they obv. use macs for editing and GFX etc...) earnt enough in a week to buy a mini so i did! Love it! need more RAM though... eats through it, esp with Java apps. but then eeeverybody knows java is evil so yah, dont blame the mac for that one Looking at getting an iBook or maaaaaybe a MacBook pro but will have to wait till I'm back at work for that! Once they sort out the portability and stop using rosetta then everything will be fookin sweet.... God Bless Apple.
  10. haha yeah but even if i had that sort of money and was mad enough to listen to MP3's on that sort of kit i wouldnt wanna put that sorta power either side of my earholes... thats a point... mp3 quality is pretty gash compared to Back In The Day, you guys notice that? I don't, but then I've never really listened to vinyl on its own much... Saying that, my tutor had an original HMV 'portable' (i use that term loosely) and it sounded like, well, the Dogs Danglies.
  11. Oooh yeah heard about these electro-static bad boys.... They run off mains though... Some guy made his own from scratch; dont much fancy putting 240V of electricity each side of my head though (I'm in Swansea! Its WET!) LOL
  12. Hey folks, seeing as all you lot are gonna be far more clued up about this than I, thought I'd ask... I've gotta buy some headphones, basically because I think my housemate is getting sick on my tunes at 1 am.. and I go home from uni next year and my 'rents certainly wont put up wiht it at all for the time I'm there, but i cant stand not getting the bass delivery from my ear-bud style 'phones Asked about and it seems the top hits are either Sennheisers or Grados Bearing in mind I'm not a DJ so don't need any external noise reduction or wahtever, what can you reccomend? atm i think im gonna go for these... http://www.petertyson.co.uk/gradosr80.shtml I know a couple of guys who have them and they swear by them. Not much to look at but then its the sound that counts huh any thoughts?
