  1. It's all about the OS. In fact the whole reason macs work so well is because the OS is tied up firmly with the hardware inside the box. The software is written for specific apple spec'd hardware. Where as windose is expected to deal with shitty hardware from uncle tom cobbly, and back street computer makers inc. Also the apple design ethos runs very very deep. The os came first, it pioneered HCI and the GUI, and that has always been apples thing, usability. It's sheer market forces, and poor processor speeds that IBM could achieve, that are making them make macs run windows. You'll get the design savvy who will always choose mac os over windows (and apple knows this), because microsoft are still way behind. In the creative realm, design specifically, macs will still rule the roost, because the design of os x is far more refined, and to designers across the spectrum, from architects to graphic designers this is key to their own identity. Apple would never ditch an industry that has supported them from the outset.
  2. I think the point about skratch music is the point I'm trying to make in some respects. Is it right to bring out the old skool big gun references in relation to modern day skratch music? When skratch music steps way outside the zone of hiphop in terms of musical references. The way I see it, skratch music is its own genre entirely, and hiphop is merely one influence out of many, on it. So is it time to sever links and make a stand for "turntablism" in it's own right?
  3. but how relevant is old skool hiphop to modern day skratching? the feeling I'm getting is that if someone isn't deriving inspiration from the old skool then there stuff ain't worth shit, is this a correct synopsis? An analogous argument would say jet engines are shit because propellers were good. With that in mind lets hear it! p.s I'm not hating on the old skool, I think whatever art form you're into it's very important to learn about where it's come from.
  4. is it time to kiss old skool goodbye?....discuss.
  5. nice work B! these loops sound better than I remember them!!
  6. yeah, wavs play thru quicktime on a mac ok. I got a feeling flash encodes to mp3 on output to an swf.
