  1. why is your entire arm involved in performing flares and orbits?
  2. i remember listening to this on a train ride while an arab was looking at me in a very friendly manner. i put it down to him hearing bits of it through my in-ear headphones
  3. i'm wondering what he's doing now. it seems like he completely disappeared from the scratchernet..
  4. yeah i know that. but i've seen how people do beats on it using the resampling method. isn't that comparable to looping in a way...?
  5. haha yeah. basically my idea was to use it like a loop station and build little percussion loops with it. with the help of an external microphone this might even be possible...or maybe not...as i don't own one i can't be sure of course
  6. never mind, i reckon there's loads of better options for that purpose
  7. this is probably the most stupid question ever but how usable is the integrated microphone? is it decent enough for recording some lo-fi percussion sounds or some hand-claps/snares? plus would it be possible to clap along while a beat is playing so that the sample is already synchronised? thx
  8. why do you have to question everything? don't hit that string then or just play another chord, there's loads of good ones
  9. i used to play guitar when i was a child. that's how i did a d chord http://www.cs.utah.edu/~bnewbold/guitarguide/dchord.jpg which one do you mean? a picture would be tremendously helpful...
  10. my long-term goal is to combine both without having to outsource one trait to a female counterpart i guess that's inevitable
  11. it's fascinating how a bookshelf in the background can make one look so smart
  12. one or two things sounded as if they weren't going as planned (06:20?) but other than that good mix as usual
  13. the prophet 6 and the odyssey are definitely two of the most exciting new things of this year's namm. but then again i'm not too fussed about either of them. at the end of the day this reissue thing is a huge marketing trick, which doesn't mean that those synths are bad, far from it, but still....the arp seems a bit toyish while the prophet is definitely out of my like league financially speaking. i appreciate though that dave smith is trying to bring out quality stuff, there's already more than enough cheap clobber flooding the market anyway. weirdly enough i'm more excited about the new rolands...whatever they turn out to be in the end, at least they look fun.
  14. What do you make of this year's show? Did you follow any of it or any of the new releases? Is there anything you are really excited about? It somehow amazes me how many new synths there are going to be released and that everything has to be "analogue" these days. A few years ago no one would have anticipated that...

what's your opinion it? you like it?
  17. or it just needs to be visually appealing and people will like it, regardless of the level of skill
  18. cons: - it sounds much better in the head (or say, the 'inner ear') than it does in reality - the way it's done is incredibly fiddly, even after many years of practice - most of the time it feels like you're doing it wrong, as if there was some better way but there isn't pros: - it's the only thing i can think of i get much better at after a few beers sorry, i'm on a bit of a loose end today.
  19. bought them today...not sure if this was the right decision...the one on display at the shop was even already broken but hd-25s simply have too much bass for my liking.. How are you liking those headphones? it wasn't love on the first sight but i'm pretty chuffed with them so far. i was looking for allround headphones which do not audibly overemphasize any spectrum and for that they are decent enough if not perfect
