  1. I was going through some old files and I found this. It's terrible, but I thought I'd share it for a laugh. All 3 of us are called Steve, so it's Steve on the human beatbox, Steve rhyming, and Steve cutting. 😂 I was scratching on one of these hi-fi systems with one speaker unplugged, so the balance slider worked as a fader, along with a paper slipmat, which goes some way to explaining why the cuts are wank, haha: - Paid In Full LOL.mp3

  2. Sup guys, Thought it worth posting here - I started a podcast a few months ago called Once A DJ, talking to DJs and former DJs about all sorts of stuff starting with their backstories, and looking at how they’ve stayed active, dealt with getting older as a DJ, what made them Jack it in or view it different and much more. I’n terms of who I’ve had on from DV, I’ve had Jon1st and Vekked on, and from Turntablism, I’ve got a deep dive with DJ Woody coming out next week - think a lot of you guys would like that one. Got a load more interesting guests in the pipeline. anyway if you fancy checking it head to Linktree.com/onceadj or search it on your podcasting platforms… hope you enjoy!

  3. J Just managed to get this last week for 235 as it had been tested and comes with a headshell and a counterweight. Either one seems to be missing from most of the second-hand pdxs at the 200ish mark. The motor is really good and strong and all works well, what I was worried about with a golden oldie. One foot as described was missing and parcel force being the usual cunts broke one of the others. Found some replacements for 25 for 4 on eBay.

  4. Oh, and the dude definitely sucks on the guitar. He's been practicing for at least 3 years, yet he completely sucks. No patterns, no direction, just random strumming like some hapless hippie on the hill. I can't wait to go to Guitar Center tomorrow and purchase the cables I need to connect my audio interface to my speakers. Checkmate motherfucker!!!

  5. I just bought a white Vestax PMC 08. Should be arriving by post tomorrow. Used to have a black 08 which I sold a long time ago but always regretted it. If everything works as it should, it’s going to be sweet.

  6. Hey everyone. I've been a DJ for a while. Came into the scene when controllers started getting serious (~2007). Since then it's been a wild ride. Since COVID devastated the scene, the DJ scene seems to be rebuilding. Here's to everything getting back on track!

  7. So, I have these upstairs neighbors who are loud as shit. I always try to be the quiet one, ideally leading by example, but that's evidently not working. Especially lately. Tomorrow night though, they're getting it. I've been here going on three years, and up until now, I've only been playing in my headphones. Tomorrow night though, that's totally changing. We're talking, drum machine, keys and skratching....out fuckin' loud. And if they try and match my sound level, it's not going to happen. Annnnnd, I'm in the market for some serious outdoor PA speakers that are loud AF. Fortunately, the landlord is already on my side....they said that they (my upstairs neighbors) have no common sense and are basically clueless. I've tried to be nice to these fucks, but tomorrow no more. Fuck inconsiderate people.

  8. Ho-ree-fuck, this is going super well. Cables came yesterday; I came tonight. Like pretty much all over my equipment. Upstairs neighbor shows up just after midnight, stomping all round acting all aggressive, goes into making mad noise, and I immediately reached for the cables. First filtered thought was I should wait till tomorrow, when I'm of a sound mind, then I was like, 'what would Gandhi do.' So, I snipped the plastic fastener to the cables, attached to the seemingly recyclable box, and I connected the thing-a-ma-gigs to the speakers. At first I didn't have it set right, then I plugged the other speaker into the outlet... Then boom, then silence above, then boom, then silence above. Then boom, then respect. Anytime they got outta line, at least tonight, I would hit them with that boom. It's seriously amazing how they shut the fuck up with a quickness. It's like a JBL Bluetooth mono speaker meets a DJ system. Funny thing is, one of my speakers is somewhat blown, yet it still shits on their 'setup.' I've tried, repeatedly, to be nice to these fools, but unfortunately this the only thing they've responded to. And damn if it's not fuckin' rewarding.

  10. I just bought a Akai S-3000 for 200 swiss francs. It was still in the sealed box and was stored in a Hi-Fi-Shop since 1993-1994ish. The price back then was 2999 £. It's quite a bargain and I always wanted the S-3000 (I already have the S-950) so I'm really exited about that purchase.

  12. https://www.islainstruments.com/product/s2400/ So what prompted me to come see if DV was still around was getting one of these. I've decided i want to see out my days just sampling some vinyl and making short tracks for fun. I'm still very much learning it but its mental, everything I wanted and more I'll probably not use. Also, in response to Deft, thinking of getting a MasterSounds Radius mk2 rotary mixer. For the killer EQ and so i can mix all my dnb vinyl i kept hold of.

  13. I miss the old school Alps faders with the long cut-in time — it makes for funkier cuts, IMO. The new school faders are cool, but it's more on/off, even after adjusting the cut-in time. I feel like you can accomplish better/stronger stabs and chirp variations with the Alps faders. Essentially, I think Alps faders lend themselves to more of a gray area in between the cuts, and therefore not just black and white in terms of sound. Just listen to old school Qbert and DJ Shadow tracks and you'll know what I'm on about.

  14. Remember that dancing baby that made the email rounds circa 1997ish. I remember in maybe 1995 there was a foreign exchange student from Spain at our school He was pretty funny and wild. He was explaining to us "virtual sex" which I guess was sexting in chat rooms but he made it sound way cooler than was possible. GeoCities. That was something. MySpace was the worst. And interesting. It was more about how many "friends" you can acquire than actually having any sort of online presence. Interesting stage for society to realize maybe you don't want to be friends with Tia Tequila. So in the dorm circa 1998 my floor played a lot of Warcraft 3. The same idiots also liked sending "prank" viruses. This one I got permanently turned the wallpaper into this 70s necked chick with the absolute biggest bush you have ever seen. I didn't want to reinstall Windows especially since external storage was so limited so I just delt with it. Was eventually able to figure out a way to change the wallpaper but the giant bush would still appear when booting up so I would have to close the laptop as much as possible when that was happening. Sometimes in class tho I would forget or it would crash and restart which was always super embarrassing.

  15. I started using the internet in College, circa 1993. Initially I was using it for alt sex rooms and such, thus mostly reading sex stories. The summer of 1995 I didn't have net access any longer given that I wasn't in school, but when I switched colleges and got back online after a 3-4 month hiatus, I was blown away by how much the world wide web grew. Now when I did searches, there was a "Next 10" near the bottom of the search results, which was not the case in '93, as there were seriously limited results. In 1996, after seeing the web continue to grow exponentially, I decided to learn web design. Not so much because I wanted to make websites, but because I couldn't afford to hire someone to build a website for my new venture, The Book Trade. I started The Book Trade at Colorado State University so students could trade their textbooks with each other, as opposed to selling them back to the bookstore for a serious loss at the end of each semester. Or buying books from the CSU bookstore for crazy prices. Back then, it was common to pay $100 per text book, but only receive $15 per book upon selling them back. Shortly after starting that business, I decided to lean into web design because I really liked it, plus I saw a growing need for businesses to be found online, especially real estate companies. 27 years later, I'm still making websites and still absolutely love it.

  16. So, sometimes my wife gives me these challenge mixes. This time she wanted all blue eyed soul. (i hate the term blue eyed soul but thats a quick way of explaining it) anyway, it took me a while to figure out how I wanted to approach this mix. I jump around from the 70s to present to 80s to 90s. not a straight line at all but it works. i got some steely dan, some hall & oates, phil collins, toto. moonchild. its on bandcamp as name your price. https://tbear183.bandcamp.com/album/set-trippin-in-pleasantville

Let's break it down: - Ghost's bird: - Jehri curl dripping with juice Wears 90s perfume promoted by the Spice Girls Crabby attitude Lazy eye Breath stinks of cinnamon Raekwon's lass: - "Not a rape patient", phew! Fly-coloured Asian Wears a wig Gold teeth Not afraid to hold a gun Cappadonna's lady: - Black chocolate girl wonder Sexy tits and thighs Gives a good massage Smokes weed It's no competition IMO.

  20. first thing done in Cubase in a while. I remember being shit at bass so thought I'd try make a bass heavy track minimal track. Dunno what genre it is but its all TB 303 emulators so I guess its some sort of 130 bpm acid.

  21. Hehe, indeed. Gonna wire it up tomorrow with an Arduino to do some quick/initial testing and impressions. So far I'm in the "I like it" boat. The scratch feels nice (even better after some cleaning/lube) and there's soooo much additional room to play with after that. Also feels really solid with the beefy rails too. My daily driver has been a Rane Mag fader (not the Mag four) and it feels a bit rickety/wobbly with the parallel thin rails.

  23. My mom got AOL back in '97. I think I was in middle school at the time. We had a 14.4k moden and the slowest Pentium 1 PC ever. I immediately got my kid's account warned and then banned for typing this into chat: ( . Y . ) BOOBS It was my first emoticon ever used. My Mom yelled at me and from then on I never used a kids account again.

  27. If you watch YouTube using a desktop computer, Freetube might be a decent option for you. You can import your subscriptions from an existing YouTube account. It has zero ads, or other annoying bullshit. The interface is really clean. It's extremely customisable. You can download any video with a couple of clicks. You can still read comments if you want to. You can't sign into an account, so you can't leave comments, but that's one of the only downsides really. It's free and you can download it for Windows, macOS, and Linux here: - https://freetubeapp.io/#download No doubt it will get shut down at some point, but use it while you can!

  29. Hey what's up Digital Vertigo! Haven't posted here in a while, hope you're doing well. Got a new tape for you. I was planning on sending this to all my favourite DJ's and underground hip hop labels and I thought why not post it for people to hear. I'd like to say, this is not a finished project, this is just a few tracks to show range. All produced on the MPC 1000, SP-505 and sampled from vinyl records. Hope you like what you hear! https://soundcloud.com/okjoy/sets/okjoy-audition

  36. The full DVS signal is created from the clamp and spindle being connected, but you could use needles with control records if you didn't want to use the clamp and you don't need to use it at all for regular vinyl The tension control on the clamp is for more controlling feel/resistance, and it can really help with playing with dished records or for extra resistance when scratching or doing spinbacks, I like having it on a more resistant setting as I'm quite heavy handed

  37. Hey guys, long time! I did the product launch video demo for these and a few other bits on my socials, and this mix recently: I think Mojax did a great review of them: In terms of features, the clamp provides excellent tracking in serato and having the midi pads set to a feature like stems is really handy, especially when combined with a dvs mixer like a S9/11 with its pads set to cues, for example

  38. Thanks for this - I picked some new precision screwdrivers up today and they did the trick. Opened it up and was surprised to find a P&G in the crossfader slot. Paid £60 for the mixer so that was a nice bonus.

  45. I only had 56Kbps dial-up for quite a while, so it would take about 3 minutes per MB to download anything. I had to pay per-minute too, so it would be 3p per minute at peak times and 1p off-peak, on top of the phone line rental charges. The first time I got "broadband" it was 300Kbps, which got doubled to 600Kbps, which is about 450 times slower than what I have now, but at the time it was amazing. "PimpDawg", haha!

  46. FLOL. Learn to play your Eagles songs with the correct chord voicings fellas otherwise Ron's coming around to your gaff to show you how to do it properly. Anyone who actually wants to learn Eagles songs on an acoustic guitar or any other guitar or instrument quite frankly deserves to be walloped over the head with a fucking frying pan let alone a guitar . The Eagles are a bunch of cunts and their music is absolutely lousy ... except for One Of These Nights which is fucking dope with a killer bass line . Everything else they've done stinks ... 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
