Steve
There's no spyware or anything bad in Azureus. It's a great program with loads of options, but like you say it does use a lot of resources.

Steve
This is a good one, although you have to register and they're not accepting new sign ups at the moment: - http://www.filelist.org I use this one a lot: - http://www.mininova.org Here's a couple of torrent search sites: - http://www.torrentspy.comhttp://isohunt.com If you're a movie downloader, you can check out the quality of the films before you download them here: - http://www.vcdquality.com/index.php

Mixologist
yea Djs1inna, alot of people use Azureus, however i didn't wnat something java based or something that ate alot of resources so i went with bitcomet. Too be honest, I don't know what the difference is between them, but i've been perfectally fine with bitcomet, but i guess azureous might be faster. Is this cause of that JAVA thing???.If i use 'Bitcomet' will i free up some resources???
Steve
Do you mean your PC is slow, or Internet browsing is slow? If it's the latter, it's because you need to limit the bandwidth that Azureus uses to upload. If you don't, not only will your torrents download slowly, but browsing the web will be extremely slow too.
DJS1NNA
yeh the web browsing is stupid slow . how do i limit the ups??
Steve
What is the maximum upload speed of your connection? In Azureus, click Tools then Options. Click on Transfer on the left hand side, then in the box that says "KB/s global max upload speed [0:unlimited]", enter a figure that's around 80% of your maximum then hit Save in the bottom left hand corner. DJS1NNA
512 connection.
Steve
That's download speed though, not upload. Also you need to know the upload speed in KB/s not Kb/s. Take this speed test, but make sure you're not download/uploading anything when you do it: - http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp Check the box that says "Detailed output" and hit Start. When you get to the final screen, you'll see some info including this: - The number in brackets is what you want. 23.9 in my case. You want to use 80% of whatever number you get. If it's still slow, lower it a little bit more.
