yea Djs1inna, alot of people use Azureus, however i didn't wnat something java based or something that ate alot of resources so i went with bitcomet. Too be honest, I don't know what the difference is between them, but i've been perfectally fine with bitcomet, but i guess azureous might be faster.

My pc is sooooooooooooo slow when Azureus is running, even opening web pages its like being back on 56k . Is this cause of that JAVA thing???.

If i use 'Bitcomet' will i free up some resources???

Do you mean your PC is slow, or Internet browsing is slow? If it's the latter, it's because you need to limit the bandwidth that Azureus uses to upload. If you don't, not only will your torrents download slowly, but browsing the web will be extremely slow too.

What is the maximum upload speed of your connection? In Azureus, click Tools then Options. Click on Transfer on the left hand side, then in the box that says "KB/s global max upload speed [0:unlimited]", enter a figure that's around 80% of your maximum then hit Save in the bottom left hand corner.

That's download speed though, not upload. Also you need to know the upload speed in KB/s not Kb/s.

Take this speed test, but make sure you're not download/uploading anything when you do it: -

Check the box that says "Detailed output" and hit Start. When you get to the final screen, you'll see some info including this: -

The number in brackets is what you want. 23.9 in my case. You want to use 80% of whatever number you get. If it's still slow, lower it a little bit more.

i know what you mean about slowing up the comp though,so what i do is get the torrent started then close it and re-open when i go to bed. That way after spending 10 hours in nody-noddy land dreaming of phat ass latino babes in thongs ,i wake up and my albums finished and i'm a happy man. :d

Also ,get on http://themixingbowl.org Soooooooooo much good stuff on there.happy hunting.
