Guest Symatic
Next Sunday!come join us in Brighton for a scratch session followedby live performances. Kutclass & Motek will be rocking a 2-man skratch and beats set, and I'm gonna attempt a live set on Up2Scratch's unofficial weapon of choice: the SP-404. I've been working on a set of beats made using all-Soviet-Era records, with classic 90's hip hop acapellas mixed live from the turntable. DV crew roll call! PS I will be selling Limited Edition cassettes at the gig (only available in Real Life!) - I've been recording my practice runs of the set so each tape is a unique copy of the set, recorded straight to the deck.

DJ Rock Well
Indeed, a couple of years ago we went up to Bristol for an SSS and Si gave us a demo of bits of the earliest version of this. Ive been excited for more of this ever since.

Ive been excited for more of this ever since. i've been doing this for 2 years? fuck it had better be good hahaha i tihnk i might have been messing with loops of the first records NMCP sent over for me, but just after the Skratchlords Russia Tour where I got a big stack of new russian wax (mostly kindly donated by NMCP and Onkai Cutmaster) I was lent Moschops' SP-404 and knew I had to put the two things toggether, so all those ideas I'd had started taking shape. I actually have another set's worth of other beats using russian samples, but they had less of their own beats so need fattening up. I have a whole bunch that work with beats off scratch break records and stuff, but as its more complicated to perform, and needs twice as much wax, I thought i'dsave it for another time/tape. DJ Rock Well
Yep, it was when you'd just been sent the first batch. You were freestyling with them and hip hop accapellas with delay and maybe a bit of looping. Even then, it was clearly a good idea and one I've wanted to hear more of ever since.
