Presented by Sound On Sound, SynthFest UK is set to return to the Octagon Centre in Sheffield aka Synth City for the third year running. Taking place on Saturday 6th October, this years SynthFest is set to be bigger than ever, with over 50 brands exhibiting, new product launches and demos, plus a packed seminar programme.

BITWIG STUDIO - Workshop @ 11:30am

Digital Classics - A Modern Approach To Phase Synthesis Workshop

Join the Bitwig workshop for an overview of synthesis methods focusing on phase distortion and phase modulation.

 

Presenter Dave Linnenbank has been a music technologist and educator for 20 years, including teaching at Berklee College of Music.

 

 

BUCHLA MUSIC EASEL - Demo @ 2:30pm

Tom Lewis, from UK distributor KMR Audio, will be demonstrating and talking about the Buchla Music Easel: a quirky semi-modular synthesizer that's rooted firmly in the West Coast additive style of synthesis.

Tom will be taking you through why it's such an important and unique piece of synthesizer history and why, even today there's nothing else quite like it. Hell also be talking about Don Buchlas unique take on circuit design that formed the West Coast Synthesis Style and the impact it's made on the instruments we interact with today.

The Story of the Polysynth

 

This film explores the passions, obsessions and dreams of people who have dedicated part of their lives to this esoteric electronic music machine. Inventors, musicians, and enthusiasts take a moment to reflect on their often complex relationship with the polysynth ­- for many, it's an all-consuming passion.
