Dubba Dutchdj
As far as I know you currently need a stems ready controller - D2,S8,S5 or F1 to access the invidual stems tracks. NI did originally say you'll be able to map any controller to stems but I'm unsure if that's pos yet, pretty sure you won't be able to do that 2.7.0 tho
Dubba Dutchdj
For anyone who wants to make custom edits (extract the vocals or make an instrumental) out of stem files, techtools ran an how to article - http://djtechtools.com/2015/09/15/hacking-stems-how-to-extract-instrumentals-from-stem-files/
trevor dane
dj booths are bout to start looking like an airline cockpit haha .. that is dope tho but it will always be and underground format im sure
Dubba Dutchdj
Yeah I'm unsure if Stems will be a success story, seems like a long shot to me but you gotta admire NI's efforts to venture outside the box in an industry full of play it safe company's and me to hardware. I brought a few stems tracks when the format landed and I'm definitely keen to experiment further, I jus wish I could get hold of old Skool tracks in stems format which will only happen if stems are a success. Guest rasteri
The first STEMS demo I saw showed a dude swapping the bassline from one track to another, but because they were both minimal techno you couldn't actually tell.
Dubba Dutchdj
they were both minimal techno you couldn't actually tell.No prizes for guessing which genre has the most stem tracks on offer.... To be fair the whole stems format thing was probably born out of tech dj'n in the first place
trevor dane
yea its dope but i like how serato is sort of stripped down to the basics as well. ive been using traktor and its a great tool but i think a 62 w serato is better than z2 w traktor. Dubba Dutchdj
Better for you but both have strength and weaknesses, boils down to individual needs
