I have Alesis M1 MkII monitors right now but one sounds really hummy like it's gonna go out soon. Those Tannoy any good? Price is nice. I see where he has relisted over and over... motosega Posted December 11, 2012 Share Posted December 11, 2012 relisting is a danger sign, there's got to be a catch. but there might not be, maybe he was asking too much the last time. the tannoy 6.5s were the first choice reasonable priced monitor in the 90s, untill everybody got KRKs,never heard them though. motosega Posted December 14, 2012 Share Posted December 14, 2012 depends really, the whole concept of monitors is that you have a solid reference so you can judge what your mix actual sounds like. the best monitors are the one you've been using for 5 years, because you know them. sure there are technical reasons why one set of monitors is better than another. but for a home studio its pretty irrelevant as long as they aren't shit. From what I understand, if we're talking about generally acceptable monitors.... the room you're doing your mixing in is more important than the monitors.
