motosega
i bought a broken ttx1 on ebay recently, having informed myself about the motor chip problem on the ttx1, i was carefull to make sure that the symptoms were those of the classic motor ic burnout. ordered some chips from china, 10 mins with a soldering iron and bob's your'e unkle! just to say it went perfectly! thanks to all the people who posted info about how to do this fix. i took the chance to drill some holes beneath the platter to get the air moving a bit better. lets hope it lasts! otherwise i stop taking chances and get 1200s
ericuk
let me know dude, I've done it before and had success but they havent stayed working for long... hopefully yours will be a long term fix!
motosega
did you drill some extra holes? or just change the chip? i read your thread but i don't remember if you drilled or not. also i saw some of the pix online and it seems that newer model motor boards have bigger heatsinks. (and more holes)

Guest rasteri
I'm willing to bet that a bigger heatsink + decent thermal paste would have a bigger impact on overheating than drilling holes. But ideally you'd want to do both.
Kian
bet all the money obama could throw at this couldn't fix it either. nicely done
motosega
I'm going to get a bigger heatsink, I already put on new thermal paste. Is there a mod to reduce the torque on these? I bet that would reduce the stress on the motor chip.
