Mr.Fingerz Posted October 7, 2006 Share Posted October 7, 2006 my boi gave me his old dell laptop! and windows is corrupt!it says it is missing <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exei have tried the xp disk with no luck!im able to get in to the bios and thats about it! If there's nothing on the computer you want to keep then that's what I'd do. Go into the BIOS and set the CD or DVD drive as the first boot device, then insert the XP CD and reboot. Steve Posted October 7, 2006 Share Posted October 7, 2006 Oh right. Those restore discs are shite and quite often rely on hidden partitions on the hard drive. Your best bet is to get a copy of XP Pro with SP2 integrated and use that. You can download one from a torrent site. Remove all of the partitions on the hard disc, format it, then reinstall XP and you should be OK. That's what I'd do anyway mate. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
