I'm massively into techno and electro. More than anything else at the moment. I love Drexciya, Underground Resistance all that sort of stuff. Loads of amazing european techno about at the moment as well.
Heres an acid mix I did last year:
-
Jaime Read - Never The Future EP
Awesome new electro EP I picked up while in Brighton the other day. There's a sample of the best track off it here.
-
I haven't scratched regularly for years. I'm much more into mixing these days.

Anyone had a listen?
I've reuploaded it to mediafire as some people were having problems with megaupload:

Just got tickets to see Fever Ray at the Brixton Academy in September. I saw them at Latitude festival last year and they were the best live act I've ever seen, so I'm really looking forward to this.
-
Saw Thom Yorke doing a solo gig in Cambridge a few weeks back, that was pretty damn good. Got tickets to see Dinosaur Jr and Built To Spill in May, but not much else lined up. I'd like to go to a festival this year but might just wait for the winter ATP's as nothing really grabs me of the Summer festivals.

K7 - Come Baby Come

Managed to fix it in the end, using some of these tips:

I'm using windows vista. It's a vaio, about 6 months old, 3 gig memory.
I'm using asio drivers and have the sound card set at 44100 sample rate, buffer size is currently 512 though I had it on 256 before and had the same problem.
I tried recording a mix in audition but there were audible clicks and pops that aren't on the vinyl.
-
I've got an M-Audio Firewire 410 external sound card, and sometimes the playback becomes distorted. It happens in both Ableton and Adobe Audition and I have no idea what it is (I am a bit thick though when it comes to this sort of thing). Anyone have any ideas?
I'm using a firewire expresscard adapter if that has anything to do with it.

Just ordered these:
-
I can't find anything about this anywhere on the net apart from on a few forums, each of which saying "taken from another forum" so it could well be a hoax. I'll wait until seeing something official before buying a new pair anyway!
-
Just got Ableton Live 8 delivered. Sweet!
Might pick up an apc40 next year some time when I know my way around Live properly.

Are the 44g's the same as 447's?
The whitelabels definitely sound a lot better than the 447's, but couldn't really say about 44g's.
-
I use Shure Whitelabels now. I don't really scratch much any more so don't need amazing tracking, and they sound so much clearer than 447's.
-
I used to buy loads of records off Mex when he still had the Black Grass shop.
Helpful, I know.
-
Thanks for the feedback man!

From Popbitch:
“A friend of mine was in Los Angeles 79 thru 87.
Michael Jackson had had a huge hit with Off The
Wall, and was recording the follow up.
“The sessions were arranged for a very late start,
and, after a night on the town, my mate popped
around to the studio to see the producer.
“He got into the control room to find that
everyone’s attention was fixed on the glass
window. On the other side, Quincy Jones was kicking
a pile of rags on the floor while shouting
“Silent, you motherfucker! I said NO SQUEAKS!”
“It turned out the pile of rags was a gibbering
Michael Jackson. They were recording a new song
called Billie Jean, and Michael had decided
to fill every gap with his trademark whoops,
clicks and squeaks. Quincy, however, had decided
that the track would be a pared down.
“After several hours of trying to get the
singer to do what he wanted, and having consumed
large quantities of ragedust, Jones had finally
snapped and attacked the poor freak. Needless
to say, after the outburst, MJ sang the song
how he was told to, and the rest is history.”

Haven't posted here in ages! Recorded a new mix the other day, just a one-take live vinyl mix of mostly industrial/minimal techno. Not sure if anyone's really into that sort of stuff here...
