  1. Do you guys take being a DJ or making music seriously, or is it just a hobby? What do you aim to do with your skills (if anything)?

    serious? nah..

i get no where taking it serious. when i stopped taking it serious i started to learn some really cool tricks... it's definitely not a hobby, a hobby to me is collecting baseball cards. i dont collect baseball cards nor do i collect records like cards. i merely love music, love mixing, and blending sounds. i'm not trying to revolutionalize the industry or become the next ricci ruck either... i guess what drives me is the fact that i dont wanna be 'a sucka dj' if ya know what i mean?

  2. ive had my speaker next to my monitor for ages like a fool

and jus moved it to fit in my CDX05 an suprise suprise

half my screen is green... :48_48:

this happend to me b4 but it sorted it self out after a while

    hope it dus this time!!

    jeez!!

believe it or not try the magnet again... it will remove the magnetism.

what got it there can get it back off.

  3. I can finally flare now. I took the train back to school and watched scratching videos the whole way up. When i got back to my room, I miraculously busted two click flares for the first time ever. Granted, i can't do them for extended periods of time, but i'll get the muscle memory sooner or later.

i still cant stop 2-click flaring. i take it back. i cant stop flirping.

    cool,

a word of warning, the technique is so damn addictive it'll be the only thing you'll do for months if you're not careful. when i sussed it all my files were just  2 click flare fests.

the technique can be used for much more than orbitting......

i found that one out - the hard way.

  4. I thought most people here would say that. I imagine if you asked the same question on Asis, you would get a very different response.

I agree with you guys though.

i use to think that every sound should be scratched but i went back and studied various people and concluded that i dont always have to scratch it.. if that makes sense.

of course, listening to DJ Revolution's multi-tracked mixes will make you want to do the opposite.

  5. Multi-Track/Live (combo) Mixtape (CD actually but i am making myself a tape as i do have both in my vehicle) for the girl of my dreams... being a dj and all the only way i can get into her head when she's not in my presence is with my music. dangerous. scary part about the whole thing is rejection but my gut feeling says she digs me!! lol.

..i'll post the file once it's done bitches!!!

i finished a section of this one today... i'll get the file up as soon as i get more MB's to host it.

    peace

  6. You need some inspiration...if you aren't feeling a compulsion to make music then you ought not be doing it.

    AYO?

Well firstly, you should always buy records that YOU like. If you're buying tracks to play to a crowd, but you personally don't like them, then you ain't gonna be into them to get the best out of your mixing.

    agreed.

i am the most selfish mix dj i know. i cant play at gigs because nobody likes what i listen to. true story.

  7. I was just saying that to 2ndHand. I was cutting for an hour or so this morning and crazy patterns were coming off that I hadn't done before. I started recording some of it to post up and it all went wrong. It happens to me a lot. I think I concentrate too hard instead of just relaxing.

that problem is the ONLY reason i never posted files on the Stanton board... i dont give it power over me anymore and refuse to warm up without the recorder running now.

I was cuttin just a little while ago and I was like...hmm...I wonder what it would be like if I went blind, and I had to scratch without seeing? so I tryed it, and I scratched for like an hour with my eyes closed

it's really dope because nothing distracts you, and I can visualize the sound I'm scratching in my mind, and I try to watch the manipulation of the sound as I do it.......it's like it's just you, and the music

I challenge you guys to try it sometime...

...that reminds me of witty from the Stanton boards. dood was straight blind and trying to learn beat juggling via sticker labels and such... wouldnt shock me one bit. is this the official post a closed eye file bitches thread?

    Witty? Where are you mate!!!

  8. I can do the standard 1 forward, 2 back tear super fast, but I can't do 2 forward, 1 back tears to save my life. Can anyone do forward tears quickly? Post a file! Can anyone do clover tears too or even hexagon tears? I've been working on some of the more basic patterns and tears are something I need to improve on.

we're on the same boat.. although i really cant tear all that fast yet - but my flare chirps seem to be the key to blowing up on my tears at a fast pace.. or so it appears that way.
