  1. Hmm, I'm seeing mixed reports... All from here ->http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=34264 And also from here http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=557978
  2. Well, apparently this is just a rumour (XB Live banning modded consoles) - will be interesting to see how this plays out though, as I was thinking of picking up a pre-modded console in Asia next month.
  3. Nah, I already used a cracked copy of IE7. That installed without a hitch. Basically, I used to have a script installed via a plug-in called Trixie, in IE6. The script enabled me to bypass the WGA check on Microsoft's Windows Update Page, so I could manually download and install critical fixes, etc. But ever since installing IE7, the script doesn't work anymore, so I need a new one, and was hoping someone here knows of one.
  4. Woah... I just finished reading Digital Fortress by Dan Brown...
  5. Yeah, but didn't the same thing happen with Nintendo, and the NES and SNES? Although I don't think either sold 100million each.
  6. I've just installed IE7, but I've now discovered that my old Trixie Script to bypass the Windows Validation on the Windows Update page no longer works. Anyone have a new way to bypass this validation?
  7. Tiscali and Pipex are pretty heavy handed with regards to their FUPs. If you can, get Be Unlimited - I'm with them and regularly leech 80GB+ a month. No worries.
  8. X-Tree Gold! Olde Schoole! (I was all about the Norton Commander tho)
  9. Nice gfx. I'm assuming this is a FPS? I wish they could come up with something other than an FPS but using this style of high-res / high-quality visuals.
  10. Clear the way for the S, the S, the S1W's.
  11. RC2 is out now isn't it? I wonder if the move to Vista is going to be inevitable, much like the move to XP was. I remember holding on to 98SE for a long time, dual-booting XP but mainly used 98SE. I eventually moved to XP, so I wonder if this time around it might just be better to move over as soon as possible. Mind you the way Vista is doing prodcut activation / anti-piracy might be the deciding factor for me - unless of course some one releases a decent crack.
  12. I thought that nintendo were the only manufacturers to make a profit on console hardware from very early on? Which is why although they are third in the west in terms of the console-wars (at the moment), they still are extremely profitable - Sony & MS both lose money on hardware. Except by the time Sony release the 'lite' versions of their consoles (ie PSOne, PS2 slim), then they start turning a profit on hardware. And Microsoft *still* make losses on every X-Box they sell, because of the architecture of the machine - which also explains why they haven't released a smaller slimemr version of the XBox - they can't!
  13. fuck fuck fuck - i was tossing up going to see this... looks like I missed out BIG TIME!
  14. Dells are also notorious for tying all their computers to Dell-only components, so I'd stay clear. If it's a desktop you're after, then you don't need to worry about name brand. Just buy the components and build it yourself, there are lots of peeps on here (myself included) that have gone down this route and could probably help you out - flowerpot seems to be climbing over himself to help you out!
  15. Gapless playback is on all tracks - mp3, aac, lossless, etc. It's tied in with iTunes 7 and the new 1.2 firmware for the newer iPods (ie 5th Gen & above, incl the Nanos). It works well too - my 60GB ipod automatically sets gapless playback as default for all the tracks on it, all I needed to do was sync it with iTunes and wait 10 minutes of so while it did it's thing on my iPod.
  16. I've always wanted to try Linux, but what's a good one to start with? Something that's user-friendly, but not castrated. I tried Knoppix once, but that was about 4 years ago.
  17. What time do the Finals start?
  18. There are flash carts you can get for the DS (Lite). They fit into the GBA slot at the bottom, and you need a 'key', which is basically a DS cart that fits in the top slot. This lets you boot DS code from the GBA slot. I have just today received a SuperCard Lite, Superkey and a 1GB MicroSD to go with it. I've loaded up a few ROMs, and it's schweeeeet. Check these places out http://www.cheapmod.net/ccp51/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi http://www.mobymemory.com/ It's where I got my kit from. Approx £80 all up incl delivery, the price of 3 DS games, and I have the entire DS catalogue to choose from.
  19. Why not keep them and start your music archive? Obviously not as cool as walking into your basement and seeing stacks and stacks of vinyl, but who knows, in 25 years time, when CDs are long gone and we've gone entirely file-based, it might be.
  20. That looks nothing like Avid Merrion. But at least your red hoody looks fly.
  21. I use Grabit, a free program, mainly for using .nzb files and stuff.

    Lime Wire

Give FrostWire a go - it's an open source Lime Wire, same interface and layout, no spyware or malware. Still uses the same servers as Limewire though, so still same risk with the dodgy files you download.
  23. I thought that's what you wanted. I guess you can do it, but with key correction / time stretching? The way I described above doesn't just change the pitch, it actually changes the length of the wave as well (ie like manually increasing the pitch on a turntable).
