I wonder if you have to use it. That would definitely be a pain when doing a real vinyl set.

If you set it at a certain position, I wonder how well it holds it.

Also, some people use the spindle when mixing, so they'll twist or spin it, which obviously you can't do with this thing attached.

I would rather the adjustment for that mechanism be underneath, so you set it and then leave it. Then they could have had a magnetic 45 adapter that also works as a clamp.

That said, I'm a bit confused as to its purpose. In 2 of the reviews I watched, the reviewers made out that it was for adjusting the tension of the platter, but in Mojaxx's video, he doesn't mention that at all and implies that the control on it is for adjusting the clamping force for warped records.

The full DVS signal is created from the clamp and spindle being connected, but you could use needles with control records if you didn't want to use the clamp and you don't need to use it at all for regular vinyl

The tension control on the clamp is for more controlling feel/resistance, and it can really help with playing with dished records or for extra resistance when scratching or doing spinbacks, I like having it on a more resistant setting as I'm quite heavy handed

  2. Hey guys, long time! I did the product launch video demo for these and a few other bits on my socials, and this mix recently:

I think Mojax did a great review of them:

In terms of features, the clamp provides excellent tracking in serato and having the midi pads set to a feature like stems is really handy, especially when combined with a dvs mixer like a S9/11 with its pads set to cues, for example

  3. I use Distrokid for distribution to streaming services for my independent releases and then sell via bandcamp, and try to push that on my socials as the main place to buy music from my various projects - you can build up a mailing list with bandcamp too so people who have bought your music before can get notifications when you release new projects etc. I would cast as wide a net as possible with the different platforms just so you're present on them (e.g. still having your tracks on Tidal if you personally only use Spotify etc).

  4. Hey gang! Been a minute!

I thought I'd share some new production projects I have on the way :)

Shield and I have a new 6 track EP out on the 19th May:

I have a track with Fixate on a new charity compilation - the vibe we were going for was 80s hiphop meets modern jungle/beats production:

and, finally, I've contributed to an EP with Stick In The Wheel, a folk band from London (Ian from the band is also part of the group GOALS I make beats with), alongside Nabihah Iqbal and Olugbenga Adelekan from the band Metronomy. This will be out on the 27th May:

  5. I wasn't naturally good at scratching, and was a very slow learner - but scratching was also my first instrument, so I was learning about rhythm, timing, basic music theory at the same time as trying to work out the hand coordination and muscle memory etc. I was really disciplined at putting the hours in and having lots of great feedback from people with experience here and on other forums was so useful.

While I wasn't naturally good at scratching, I think by going through that learning experience, I'm able to be more natural as a learner of other musical things or other creative pursuits, but I'm def a put in the hours and see results sort of person rather than being instantly great at something :)

Right, I'm trying to get better at organising my "things to listen to" in life. I've just subscribed to you on YouTube, then maybe my phone will tell me there is new stuff. You are in very privileged company - I only have a few subscriptions - a guy who unblocks drains in Sydney and some competitive eaters.

Haha I love that drain unblocking guy 😄

  7. I'm playing Lost Judgment (another Yakuza game 😄 )

I've only just discovered Remote Play for Playstation - meaning you can use your computer or phone as a screen with a controller to play your console over wifi. By setting the console up to be able to awake from rest mode from the remote app, I think you can play games from anywhere on a wifi network or hotspot provided the connection is strong enough. It's such a 🤯 concept to me!

I tried Yakuza: Like a Dragon last night, as it's now been added to Game Pass.

At first I thought I wasn't going to like it, cos it wasn't what I expected. I didn't realise that it's an RPG with turn-based combat - I thought it was like a button mashing brawler and an action adventure game, but nope. That said, the story started to really suck me in and I ended up playing for 2-3 hours. It's supposedly a big game that takes over 50 hours to just complete the main story, and so far it's been kinda linear and more like watching a movie than playing a game, but I'm still really enjoying it and it will obviously open up more as I get further into it.

Yeaaa as a big fan of the Yakuza series ive not been so into this as previous games  - but if I think of it as a stand alone game rather than a continuation of the brawler theme of the rest of the series it’s actually really fun, just a change from the other games.
