I just dm'd ya on instagram. looking to get some details from ya on this. thanks!I was having a thought of adding a new ultra pitch solution. something that wont prevent me from playing a 12" on the pt01.
Would the best bet to be install a knob on the side of the table? Is that possible?
Is there another solution other than a knob or fader/slider for ultrapitch on top/face of the pt01?
I use a button but its a non adjustable ultra pitch. Essentially I switch between to sets of resistance. I've removed the stock trimmer for the 33.3 speed and replaced it with a break out board with both the stock trimmer and a new trimmer with a different resistance. Then I use a relay to toggle between the two.
If you do the battery mod, you have more then enough space to mount the potentiometer inside the battery compartment. That way it could be hidden but still adjustable.

The controller I talked about installing a few posts ago works great. It works with my rechargeable battery no problem. The switch/potentiometer on the pwm speed controller is a free spinning knob so you can spin the platter at any speed between 0 and about 45rpm when speed is set to 33rpm on the pt01.
Anyhow I checked the knob that came with my controller and it sits pretty flush if you install it on one of the aluminum plates plus you can always dremel down the potentiometer shaft and they have tons of different shorter knobs for a couple bucks. Just search for "6mm potentiometer knob".

Here are a couple of before and after vids with the disc fitted.
Its not a 100% fix , as you can see at the end of the clip with the disc fitted it skips with some heavier tapping but its a decent improvement from standard. (I didn't bother to go as hard as the end of the first video as it was starting to skip anyway)
The main thing I like is its not rubbing against the inside of the platter and just pushes on with no modding required.
After a bit of testing I think I was wrong about the sizes being different, the first disc I made was probably a little small as the one I have fitted to my scratch fits well on the standard pt01 too, ill wait to see how the one I sent to my friend fits and how he finds it.
Good stuff homie. I liked the bespoked platter idea but I'm concerned about weight too. The Pt01-USB I'm working on now is working flawlessly with the platter bars but the next table I want to explore your aluminum stabilizer.

So I got the motor controller delivered on Saturday night and installed it in about an hour. Took a while cause I'm OCD and everything has to be perfect.Any luck with that??? I think thats the one im using or very similar. I couldnt get it to work when using batteries, Worked fucking great when plugged in tho. I probably wired it wrong or need to tap into the power at another spot. Im kinda just waiting for someone to figure it out first. I dont wanna experiment too much... thats what got my handytrax lookin hobo-ish.
I was gonna buy a kit of standoffs and spacers to mount everything clean but hot glue worked great and hot glue pulls up with rubbing alcohol super easy...
I will probably replace the knob but that's not important. I don't have the right sensors in my phone to measure RPM speed but here's my best guess just from messing with it. When selector is on 33rpm the controller goes from 0rpm to about 45 RPM and so on with 45 and 75 speed sets.
It also works great with my rechargeable battery mod. Check to see if you wired it the same as me.

Ok, back home and just taken some pics, the mod isn't a new platter (yet), more a stiffener for the standard platter, I do plan to make a bespoke platter with decent ball bearings but I don't have the time at the moment, also a little worried about it being too heavy?
I may try to improve the disc I made by adding a small lip at the bottom to help keep the belt on when replacing the platter, I made a couple of these from some scrap aluminium at work so didn't have much choice on the diameter.
It has a tapered hole in the centre to grip the spindle surround and it fits tight in the part the belt fits round.
The holes make it a little lighter (weighs around 80 grams I think) and they help when removing it.
Interestingly, the disc needed to be a fraction larger for my pt01 scratch compared to the original pt01, maybe a manufacturing defect or the plastic mold getting worn out over time, it was only 0.1mm larger but it meant the first disc I made didn't fit the scratch.
Anyway, it works pretty good! ill post a vid when I can get some way to hold my phone steady while doing scribbles

Damn that's a clean piece. Have you thought about producing more of these to sell? I plan on buying a couple more pt01's in the next couple months, one to stash and another to mess with.
The 3D printed platters people have made on here are super nice but I like the idea of modifying the stock platter.

Hi everyone, finally got round to creating an account so I could show my platter mod I made after seeing people bring it up again.
I was looking at the flesh one platter bars but they cost a lot to buy and then send to the U.K so I was considering making the ring type solution but I didn't like the idea of the two faces rubbing against each other.
Luckily I remembered this thread and got to trawling through, can't renember who actually posted it but someone mentioned that the issue was with the spindle and its moulding from factory (thank you whoever that was!)
After I kicked myself for not spotting the flaw earlier I knocked up a disc at work, it works pretty good, doesn't remove every last bit of wobble but it's far more stable and its a no friction solution.
Of course, I can't work out how to add pictures to this post on my phone so I'll have to post them when I get home from work this evening.

So after reading your comment I decided to just go ahead and order one of those pwm controllers. I just ordered this one like mentioned earlier...
It will be here Saturday so hopefully I will test it out this weekend. If it doesn't work then I can just reverse it.
I don't use D batteries anymore, I installed a rechargeable lithium ion battery pack, so hopefully it won't have the same problem. I was also playing with the idea of building a power bank into the pt01 with some 18650 li-on cells. That way if my speaker or phone gets low I can hook them up. I should also have the new Raiden RXI-F2 fader delivered this weekend and that's something else that needs to be charged now.

That is exactly what the one I originally thought about getting looks like from Japan. $40 Doesn't seem bad for that piece. Do you have it in your gear.
I think I will still prefer the platter bars because of the least amount of friction. The bars act as a bearing so it's not like rubbing 2 plastics together.
Next is for me to pin down an ultra pitch solution.

So I installed the blank silicone bracelet on the platter. I cut up some stuff before I installed it to see any difference. I have to say that it was the best $3 spent. This gives a good solution to reducing lag and definitely adds a descent amount of torque. This would also work great for worn/stretched out pt01 belts.
The day I did this I actually received these diamond tip stylus replacements in the mail.
I'm sure I will eventually install a new tonearm and cartridge. This was more of a learning experience. My old stylus needed to be replaced, but the sound quality of these upgraded needles is great. So for the portablist looking to ball on a budget then I'd recommend these. I always read reviews before buying anything and a previous customer posted pictures of the needle magnified as well to show quality.

not sure exactly. i clipped the bottom pegs off the platter. and every time i would put the platter back down onto the bars, i would hear all this grinding. tried grinding the bars down. but ended up destroying them. i was able to exchange with flesh_one for a new set. but the new set gives the same results for me. not sure what to do. so i just have them chilling on a shelf until i can figure out what to do with them.i havent had any success with the platter bars. sucks bc i know for some they work wonders. thanks for this insight.

It was distracting and I came super close to pulling them out. But after doing everything I mentioned before with the grease etc. I'm super stoked I didn't just write them off. They are super smooth and almost silent now.
Previous to ordering these bars I was looking at a company in Japan called Mikigakki that had a full ring spacer but the cost in shipping wasn't worth it. I also thought about buying a sheet of UHMW plastic and routing out the ring. I chose the lazy approach.
What problem did you have with yours? Binding?
i also looked into the spacer ring, but shipping was way too high. or the cost of a ring was almost the cost of a pt01..
Do you have a pt01 or pt01 usb? Also what year was it manufactured. I know that for the later years it take a taller bar. So I'm wondering if they are just too tall for yours. I know Flesh One made a shorter platter bar.
When you grind down the bars it definitely takes a little muscle so don't worry about breaking anything. When you hear the grinding is it just when you lay down your hand or does it do it all the time?

So I wound up just ordering a blank silicone bracelet for a couple bucks to see what kind of torque it has to offer. I've seen a lot of people ask about it but no one has chimed in. I will try it out and post what I think.
Also I can't remember if it was someone on this forum who had said that anything over 6volts to the motor is useless.
I'd like to see if this low voltage controller would work or what you guys think about it for an ultra pitch setup.

Been reading this thread for a little bit and decided time to contribute as my first post. Since people are talking about platter stabilization and I just did some Flesh One platter bars this week I thought I'd share my experience and some things I did.
I did everything as directed, after I shaved down the plastic, I took the platter off cleaned up and started to figure out how I could quiet down the bars. They are super loud off the bat. I grabbed some silicone grease I use for brake calipers, but when I popped off the platter I noticed just how much grease from the pt01 spindle/bearing was all over so I actually used about a lentil sized drop on each metal bar and rolled the bars to work it in (You can see the black grease clearly in the picture)
Before I reinstalled the platter I took 150 grit sandpaper and sanded around the bottom rim of the platter smoothing out the edges. The result from everything together blew my mind. You can barely hear it, you can just feel how solid they are. I have a semi heavy hand so much needed.

It is Pi, if you look at the pics of the mp3 decoder faceplate he routed out spots for the ethernet and USB ports of a raspberry pi. You can see in another one of the pics he did a hdmi panel mount on the other side plate. First pt01 I've seen with a pi in it. Thanks for sharing.
