can i still burn the .avi file onto a dvd? and will it work when i watch the dvd in a dvd player?

just transferred some films from my laptop to my new destop that are .avi 's. They work fine on my laptop that i downloaded them on (using bittorrent) but it comes up with 'error downloading codec' when i open them on my desktop. any ideas on how i can overcome this? much appreciated. mowgli.

fully understood mate, i've made similar mistakes in believing i had programs on cd and deleting them before realising they came on the computer lol... i recently purchased a 1gb memory stick too and have a decent laptop at hand so it sould all be gravy. am fully going to read up about this nLIte thing before trying my hand but i'll be sure to keep you updated on how im doin...thanks a lot for the support n tht.

yeah i've got the recovery disk and you're right about the recovery drive containing all the windows components. does anyone have a legit full version of style xp that i can yoink?

under 'hard disks' in my computer there is : BOOT (C:) BACKUP(D:) RECOVER (E:) Is that alredy partitioned?
