  1. Thank you everyone for all the info on making a "skipless" scratch record. I had some success cutting one on plastc! It tracks pretty well for my first try at making one. Here is a short clip of the plate getting abused: Gonna keep experimenting!
  2. Goodluck with getting them working! It took me quite a while to dial in both of the lathes. One of them (the presto 6n) the motor would stop in the middle of a cut! So i had to change out the motor and then i had to make a new motor mount for it. The othet ine i had to re-grease and oil everything! But i can say recording your first sound no matter how dirty or noisy it mat be is the best feeling ever! From there all takes is a bit of tinkering and adjusting and your cuts will just keep getting better.
  3. I wonder if you can load lsdj or nanoloop on it and make some beats? I know that the original Dmg soundchip with lsdj and nanoloop is what gives it that nice 8 bit fuzz and sound.
  4. Have you tried and bypass the circuitry and use a standered amplifier? Just connect the terninals to the output speakers of a amplifier, Turn the amp up slowly and listen to to the cutting head. You should be able to hear sound coming out of it. Its a good test to see if the cutting head is actually working. Once you have that working. Then atleast you now the main heart of the lathe works.
  5. Man it seems like alot of menu diving going on! For me i need to see some results right away instead of setting stuff up. Thats one reason why jjos Made the 1000 & 2500 flow better
  6. Thanks for all the feedback. I also found some information here at Aardvark mastering. This place used to do the masters for my friend and i when we used to press 7"a up. http://www.aardvarkmastering.com/specialcuts.htm
  7. I was wondering if there are any other turntablist out there that have vintage record lathes. I have 2 of them 1 presto 6n with a Fairchild cutting head and the other is a Presto k8 with the original 5c head. Both are really awesome and make pretty decent cuts. I would say they can cut to the levels of some professional records! The frequency spectrum on them cant get as high due to the nature of the mono cutting head. Heres is a link to my 2 beast right here: IMG]http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/TENSHUN619/image_zpskqzf9ki4.jpeg[/img] Also i was wondering if any of you guys could shed some light on what the formula is on laying samples out for non skip scratch records. As i wanna experiment on cutting some of my own. Peace!
  8. I always love that raw gritty dark sound of hip hop beats (old school sixtoo, rza, prunes, old shadow, beatminers & krush etc). Theres just something about it always make me happy! I think thats why i got the Mpc in the first place! Choping up drum breaks and layering samples from old movie soundtracks over drums made instant filth! The mpc did have a little bit if menu diving but that becomes engraved in the memory and once it becomes routined you can make a beat quick. These newer mpc do look strange. I wouldnt mind giving it demo to see what all the hype is. But i cant see myself dropping $$$ on it.
  9. It is kinda awkward scratching with the right hand on the record. Every once in a while my hand would accidentally touch the tone arm when i get funky with it. I think it would of been better if they would have put the turntable platter more centered and the tone arm in a different place so that people who scratch with the right on the record dont have to be in a weird position. Other then that. That little switch is really growing on me and you can really get some clicks in. Its just like cutting in the line switches without the click in there. Also the needle seems to stay in the groove pretty well. I was scratching on this for a hour straight using a standard non skip record and i was giving it some heavy stabs and chirps and it was sticking in the groove. Over all its a fun little piece of gear i just wish they made it a more universal set up for scratching with both hands
  10. Messing around with the stock switch on this turntable. Its fun to cut with but its nothng like a fader. More like a transformer switch . https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=stzdDL640jc Any other people cut it up on the stock fader that comes with it? Or is everyone just replacing them with other things?
  11. Yeah the 1000 pads are a bit small if your used to playing on the 2000 or 2000xl. I guess i got used to it because that was my first ever real piece of hardware. From stepping up from sampling loops with a gemini 12 second sampler and layering it up in a 4 track tascam! Man those were the days! Just sequencing everything in realtime!
  12. You can try looking for a universal wall wart which should say 110 -220 volt on it.
  13. I love my Mpc 1000. Even tho i had to change out the pads and all the tactile switches this little beast is awesome. Akai really fell off tho . Alot of there new products are all flashy and colorful with bright lights and stuff
  14. You can do it with a nanofader, I don't sell them but a bunch of people do.TBH though if you want a portable turntable just get a pt-01scratch and put an innofader in it, it's much easier and you can sell the HT used for way more than the PT-01scratch is new.Yeah i might as well just keep the Handytrax how i have it now since they are now a rare commodity these days. Theres nothing wrong with how i got it modded now with a old vestax 05 fader. I guess i got all jaded getting used to the sharp cut of the innfader!
  15. Salute dude, used to buy loads of your releases back in the controller 7 forum days, hope you're good Yo! Everythings cool down here. Im still making beats and making home made records. Sorry for thread derail!
  16. Rasteri would you be willing to let me know how you installed the innofader inside of the Handytrax? I emailed Eliot Marx at innofader and he was saying he would have to reprogram the mini innofader in order for it to function inside the HT
  17. It seems someone in this video was able to modify the handytrax with mini innofader: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wmOJ1bpbv_M If anyone here knows of how to do this please share! I have a handytrax that i ghetto rigged with a old vestax pvc fader like in this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l1pjln4DSS8
  18. marcus b! That guy is from where is live San Diego California. He was really active for awhile. I have not heard of any recent material from him. He had a few 12" records out. He had this one record with Dj Fingers and another one that was a compilation. Both really sick with the beats to scratch from.
