What's up yall, I've progress a lot since I lately posted here, but when I watch some videos of such cutters as qbet tigerstyle and all of the greatest I cannot imagine how fast and strong they are. Plus how clear their scratches are. Do you guys have any special training tips on how to develop such a great skills? I'm training amost every day for at least 2 hours (yeah qbert has been training for 30 years/ 12 hours a day). When it comes to new techniques I pretty quickly get a grasp and can do them on regular tempo. But when it comes to speed, its a whole fucking struggle to get that full speed and repeat it over 8 bars. I've been learning boomerangs for 2 years still cannot repeat them over 8 bars in double time. My orbits flares are pretty fast, yet not that fast as somebody else's. How long have you been practicing one technique to master it completely?
  2. The best 'Ahhh' is on superseal. I've had mine for 6 years and I'm still using it on regular basis. It's better then most from scratch science, however I love the "fresh" from enter the scratch game 3 cuz its a bit shorter than the original I mean there is no this shit GAP between "free" and "shh"
  3. I'm 1993 been collecting records for 6 years. ;D the first record I bought was some polish rap thing. I will not bother to tell you what it was ;D of corse what got me into collecting was a hunble collection of my grandpa and his "unitra" turntable. Grandpa listend to everything what was popular back in the 60s and 70s most of the records where either imported from the west or made in Russia. I still got a russian edition of "the beattles".
  4. Cash money and marvelous "where's the party at". Cash money tought me to scratch funky. There are so many cool transforming paterns on this album. Anybody besides me thinks marvelous has this same voice as LL cool J?

  7. Yo, I think each of us has learnt a lot from listening to tracks with some cool scratches on. My idea is that everybody mentions at least 2 songs or videos they took inspiration from and learnt some scratch patterns. I do not mean tutorials https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oVDfyc2lh4Q (very easy yet practical combination whenever there is a two-syllabic-sample.) I often use it ;D https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JqnoAyMTtZM (very famous transform pattern back in the day. The one during the rock the bells routine. Like qbert said "a push in transforms". Btw for some period between 89,90 Alladin was second to none!

  9. Yeah this is what I've been looking for. Thanks bro. Nooo I don't have a difficulty in putting tears over certain scratches. I do swing most of my my techniques. It is just speed of colver tears what I'm struggling the most with. Thank you for videos I'm right handed (right hand on the record) left on the cf (orthodox).

  11. How yall doing? I'm thinking if you guys have ever struggled to master clover tears two forward to backward. Been scratching for a few years but still I cant get the proper speed. Does anybody know a nice trick which might help? I've seen qbert and some other DJs start slowly with a regular wrist movement and subsequently as they go faster they just switch to two fingers obscurly bent. :|Since I can do super fast forward and backward tears like prizms, I find clover tears so difficult.
  12. This seems to me a little bit farfetched. Disk being pissed and posting some nonsense on social media now after 20 years. Anyway who cares? The plain idea means nothing unless its put in work. I think all ISP squad + other DJs around the globe came up with the idea of a hybrid somewhere in time. It is qbert though who has the credit along with the vestax team and the japanesse business guys. Period. I think people must have thought about scratching long before GM theodore. When did first turntables appear ? In late 19 century early 20? Somebodu must have rubbed dragged and scratched a record uncounciously while putting it on the platter thus making this "zigi zigi" sound. They just used to deem it insane, you know "ruining" records. ;D We had to whait until 75 when Theodore said to himself "fuck it! If that can make me a better DJ I'm gonna ruin'em records".

  15. It's hard to believe dude but, congratulations. I have been thinking maybe are there any scratch Jam sessions or scratch events coming to West Midlands shortly. So it might be a good idea to take one day off and go practicing.
  16. What's up y'all ? Due to my long-awaited visit to the UK I'm going to take one month break from scratching. I know it's not "that long", yet it's rather frustrating. I'm having dark thoughts of losing skills and coming back to the times when I was starting scratching. I know Chile had to hold off for 2 years... Were I to stop scratching for such a long period I would probably never go back to turntables. How long did your breaks last? and how long does it take to get in practice?
  17. Right, Overall I prefer using transforms to using crabs as a form of transition between techniques. Basically, you achieve 2,3 or 4 very sharp sounds but I have to switch my hand position to do so. Doing transforms your set of clicks ranges from 1 to 7(8)(9)? depending on the sample's length and your speed.
  18. Hi, what's up scratch community? I have seen lots of scratch practice videos lately and I have noticed a bunch of beginner dudes who do some simple cuts like stabs tears babies and forwards but who cares. They do crabs! I ve also seen a qouple of tutorials which presented crabs as "fundamentals". Is this a joke? For me crabs are so difficult to perform especially because of my weaker hand on the crossfader. After many hours and mounths of training I mastered them but, hello! What is the whole point of learning crabs if you can't do proper stabs or even tears? Maybe it's something wrong with me but I hardly ever do crabs. This type of scratch is not as appliable as open fader scratches like flare and all "slice based" scratches like boomerangs and autobans. I treat crabs just as minor addition to my scratch vocabulary. And here's a tip for those less advanced. Maybe instead of learning autoflares delayed reverse hyper-echo prisms explore your tears chirps and stabs?
  19. Hello, As far as I remember I've been always a bedroom-DJ. I'm pretty content with my skills. Recently I have got my shit together and started practising everyday. Been rather obsessed with scratching since a couple of weeks. I can come back home from work and practise for like 3 hours then do some other stuff and practise for an additional hour. There's a scratch session coming in 2 weeks around my place so I thought I would have an opportunity to show off, but yeah, this stage fright dude! I just can't scratch when somebody watches me. Well I can scratch but not like I'm on my own. The other thing is that I'm used to scratching with my mixer and a good old crossfader. I visited a friend of mine the other day, couldn't do a shit I sounded like a begineer. Basically, didn't see any difference in the record motion and simple scratches such as chirps stabs and tearz but when I wanted to do some more advanced clicks... you know the rest Those of you who often scratch with people. How much does it take for you to adapt your fader hand to a completely different fader from yours?
  20. I remember one Turntable TV video of a black dude who visited qbert and yogafrog at their house. The dude knows nothning about scratching and qbert says to him "move this slow (pointing at a record), and move this fast (pointing at the crossfader)". This is pretty what cutting is all about.
  21. " I also foolishly superglued the finger-lever thing back on to one and the glue's fumes separated the stylus from the metal cantelever......" Gosh.... I used to clean ma mixer thoroughly once a year all eq's along with faders. Once my cross and line faders' caps start to fall off so I glued them. I havn't done my cleaning for a year or so beacuse I cannot take the faceplate off. To do this i need to take off all the glued caps.

  23. What's up? I've been wondering about the condition of my equipment lately. I have got a qouple of questions I want to ask you. Those who practice everyday or nearly everyday, do you have your needles set up to your tone arms all the time or when you want to practice do you attach the needle to the tone arm and after the session detach it until next training session? I think attaching and removing the needle all to often may fatigue either of these parts. How often do you clean up your turntables? How often do you replace your old shure M44-7 with a new one? My cue lever and the arm rest has come loose, they do not hold the tone arm tight any longer. Is there any solution to this? I tried to screw that thing which the lever lowers and elevates but it didn't help.
