  1. What, no Love for Jimmy's entry?
  2. Updated my MBP(late 09 SSD & max RAM).... No major problems. Safari does seem slightly sluggish. But other than that it's been doing the same shit. Still my workhorse.
  3. The overall standard might look worse to you because there a lot of entrants who are new to DJing stepping up, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I would encourage anyone who's interested in DJ battles/turntablism etc to step up and enter, no matter what their skill level. Firstly, the whole process of making a routine and rehearsing it will make your skills sharper, even if they're a little on the basic side. Secondly, just taking part and putting yourself out there in the public eye will help these DJs develop a thick skin, either that or they might just discover that it's not for them. Thirdly, some of these people will eventually quit Djing but a lot of them will continue and develop and eventually contribute to the art form. The more the merrier... Ha! Props to that guy for tracking down that Vestax rarity (is that what it was?). I mean, he's not going to win against some of the better entries, but it's good for novelty value. If anything, it need more Keytar. Yeah, but quite a few rounds were like that last year as well. Actually, I'd say there are three or four good routines in Round One, which is more that you could say for a couple of last year's rounds. ROFL. Isn't that the same guy Steve who was hating and trolling hard last year? Or is this a new low? When anyone enters and submits a video, they get a message saying their video is being reviewed and will go live pending approval. IMO, the biggest concern at this stage is that DMC don't seem to be checking the videos at all. Apart from SteveC's little scratch karaoke clip, there are a few videos edited with several camera angles. Did the rules change? I always thought it had to be one take, one camera angle. I think they even let that slide for a couple of people in the online finals last year. The screening of the videos should be a lot better considering it's like their 3rd(?) year now doing this comp. There's one competitor with 3 videos up for this round, all 3 are meh. I dunno anymore, I used to love DMC(online/real comp) but it's been pretty sad for the past few years. As much as I don't like RB3Style due to the over abundance of midi bashing over real turntable skills I would gladly watch that over a DMC battle.
  4. It gets worse!!!! WTF!!! I believe he jacked this from somewhere. DMC Online = Joke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKSCCld12_I
  5. I've gone through 2 pages of videos and literally 1 video got 4 stars from me. Everything else was 1-2 stars. It's sooooo bad right now.
  6. No no, I'm not entering. I'm far from good to even enter.... but. It's back. And round 1 submissions are in. I'm sure a lot of you guys have been following it and obviously some previous champs are here on DV. Just went through a couple of vids, is it me or is it getting worse? For some reason it feels like anyone who's picked up scratching/djing within the last year feels like they're ready for this. I want to post examples of some cringe worthy performances but really I'm not one to talk, I can barely put together a 2min routine without a mistake. But check out this submission, weird, but new! *shit meant to post this in the non-member video section.... Steve???
  7. Gawd.... I was stuck on this issue for a while. I agree there are a lot of scratch vids out there with piss poor audio. For the longest time I was torn on how I would go about recording sets or sessions and having to sync the audio some way. I pretty much gave up on the search and kind of relied on my iPhone, which did a decent job of recording the audio as well(made sure it was pretty close to the monitors). I was also considering on getting a web cam to record and using something on my laptop to record everything at once. But also gave up on that. My solution to everything was getting a GPH4 along with an audio adapter. Now I can avoid having to sync audio with video and just just work on cropping videos. I know my reply isn't much help, I'm sure there's a few programs out there that can help you with combining everything. But like I said, it's probably more work than anything.
  8. tried this yesterday. Cue'd up your video to get a sense of the sound. Then googled up some other OG flare videos (a few). What I noticed with other people doing the OG Flare is they would go for 2 clicks to get the first two sounds. I'm assuming this is the old way. Because all you really need is one click to chop the sound into two. As for the pull back I noticed you need to pull it back fast to get almost a chirp like sound. Anyway, I was able to replicate the walking OG flare a few times during my practice. Just not with the same sample. Using 'ahhhh' helps because you can really hear everything. I don't have Symatic's Cadence w/Rhythm & Flow. But was able to kind of do it on a similar vocal sample (4 syllable). My only thing is that majority of the OG flares I've heard people doing were usually quick. Which I can do but I'm looking for more of a flowey cadence to it. I've been experimenting with 80-95bpms to try to get it sounds on beat and almost pausing on the pullback. Kind of hard to really explain. I'll try to put together a video some time soon. Thanks for the tutorial though.#madprops
  9. Woh.... those area pretty bad. "Some scuff marks, but was just painted last year" ..... with what? House paint? Reminds me of the pictures I've been seeing while house hunting as of late. People taking pictures of their bed and not the room itself. How am I supposed to get a sense of the size of the room with a picture of your messy ass bed? Or a picture of the loveseat like that's supposed to represent the family room. Dafuck?!
  10. nice... guffah... that camera angle.... always thought the flare was 4 sounds. So from what i gather in your video the OG flare is 3. Cut the forward in two and pull back for the third. And the walking OG flare would be cut the forward in to two and the first pull back is halved and then repeat with the OG flare. Am I correct? Will try it this week. Sounds wicked with the sample. Used the RCF last week at my buddies. Need to buy one now. Or maybe Symatic could toss me a bone
  11. The next batch for orders was announced. They have an off white version now. I'm really thinking of getting one as well as a handy trax for some office sessions or that odd time I go away on vacay and have the hankering to scratch.
  12. awesome! Going to bookmark that shit when I get home.
  13. the crossfader goes from left to right... not up and down. Those are your line faders. Stop breaking your shit.....
  14. I've been meaning to download it. I'll probably do it for the next session with some of my boys. Saw the article on DJWorx. I'm sure the bugs will be fixed with updates. My current workaround for flash based loopers is a flash player (Photon) for ipad. Works great for sites like scratchloopers.com. But I had to pay for the app. I'm glad you guys made this app free.
  15. Lol hahahaha I read the rotary is in the ballpark of $3100
  16. MSRP $2199 :/ At that price point id rather have the 62 Did you guys see the Denon DS1 serato sound card MSRP $299 but doesn't include SeratoDJ software.
  17. lol... Back when I was COD'ing, it was all about f'ing shit up trying to up my Ranking in TDM. I would say I was under top 1000 on PS network. Then moved onto gun game. To think all I wanted to do was leave work go home and play for hours on end. But now all I want to do is scratch, or watch people scratching, or read about scratching... anything. I should sell my PS3 and all the games along with the account(Hardened editions for 3 COD's)
  18. Pros: -Gave up hours of COD and gaming for hours of Scratch Practice -a reason to spend an evening with the boys getting blunted and leaving the wife at home with the Kardashians Cons: -Hours spent Scratching to only accomplish so little -Blunted cuts suck after 10mins
  19. Wow... I'd file that under hot Garbage speak up! can't hear you likkle yout. How about turn the beat down and turn that mic up? Its like life is one long Lean high with shatter bong hits. Kids these days... (Lol)
  20. Vet? Vetcuts? Sick video homie. We gotta link up again at Donill's for another session.
  21. Yeah, it's nice up in here. I like how Turntablism is the focus. Thanks for fixing the instagram links. I wanted to post it on DJF but I know it would just get lost in a bunch of EDM festivals, controllers vs CDJs, PC vs Mac, and trance mixes. Not thing against that shit buts tiring. They miss you there. I did as well, love the EDM is shit posts. Lol
  22. I didn't know that they geared it towards Juke Boxes and that's why they're so 'sticky' as to not be disrupted by people dancing around. yeah especially if you have a shit computer that can't handle all the crap going on.
  23. lol. I don't know what inspired you to say that. your fuse is half of what is used to be... or that could just be because DJF is pretty crappy most of the time.
  24. Caught this off the Thudrumble FB page. Great read! (The page is similar to Chile's link of 'Scratch Obsession'... guessing its a Machozapp thing) http://machozapp.com/features/NEEDLE-HABIT
