  1. 1. House parties - you don't get paid much but you have more freedom of the type of music you play and tend to have an amazing time.

    2. Clubs - pay better than house parties but may be stuck playing a certain genre. And the crowd can totally dictate what you spin

    3. Weddings - Paid the most but you're pigeon holed into playing what the bride and groom want. Your crowd response is hit or miss. You'll be bored out of your mind for a bit. Setup and tear down sucks royally, especially if you're providing sound. But in the end it's mucho deniro! !

I just did a wedding on Saturday. It was ok, but blows because you end up playing the same 'floor fillers' as the crowd is a mix bag. But the money is just too good to turn down.

  2. what is everyone's technique for putting their belt back on? takes me about 5 tries with my potato fingers. (this isnt referring to pants)

I heard drilling a decent hole in the plastic platter near the motor will help with this. I forgot who which video and who made it but seemed to help with putting the belt back on.

Reaction from Rob Swift at his FBpage:

Society at large has created two breeds of men, a Nobodi and the Somebody.

As a result of their unimportance, a Nobodi will always seek the attention of the Somebody. For no other reason than to obtain the qualities the Somebody possesses. Confidence, Poise and Heart are some of the most desired traits sought after on behalf of a Nobodi. These same qualities are intrinsic to the Somebody. The Somebody knows before he can attract the recognition, admiration and respect of others, he must first cultivate them within himself. And so when the Somebody speaks or voices an opinion, he does so without the approval of anyone who's listening. Why would he? He's self assured in his truth. A Nobodi isn't. A Nobodi's truth is the truth of those outside of himself. And so it's typical for a Nobodi to experience bouts with anger, frustration and depression that are in turn displaced on the very Somebody they strive to be.

What's more, a Nobodi doesn't have many female friends and in some cases will threaten women (*respect DJ Lady Styles) as a means of bolstering his false sense of "inner strength". A Nobodi also resorts to social media gossip and other forms of cyber passive aggressive behavior due in part to his scarce social skills. The Somebody demonstrates empathy towards a Nobodi and does what he can, within reason, to help a Nobodi discover himself.

Nobodi da vinylist, I trust my response to your "Rob Swift Diss" will help you succeed in accomplishing your goal of wracking up more facebook "LIKES" and youtube views. Although I've never mentioned your name in any of my posts regarding the ways I personally feel DJs can progress in their craft. Although you're never a thought in my mind, if I may be candid, I forgot you existed. I'm more than happy to tag you on my page. I can say, without any fear of error, the light I'm shining on you is just what you need to reach the desired 15 minutes of fame you seek.

And the video Rob posted with it https://www.facebook.com/djrobswift/videos/1339631996096419/

Nobodi smashed, some of Rob's stabs sound like cue pointing or copy/paste.

First thing I thought when I heard his reply. I don't know what he's doing.... It could be legit that his stabs are as clean as cue bashing. But it wasn't on video... Nobodi on the other hand, destroyed his set!

  4. Yesterday in Toronto during the last day of the Canadian DJ show. Our very on Vet Cuts repped hard and beat out 16 other competitors to win the DMC Canadian East Coast Scratch Championship. Not sure if there will be a national competition later this year during the full DMC competition.

There must be footage somewhere. But here's the announcement of Vet winning.

    Some footage by DJ T-Jr

  5. It's like a yearly thing for this guy to rant on about how much he hates the new school. This time around his post falls under the 'Shade' category.

I agree to some extent about being more funky and how it's a tough to actually learn. But calling out a whole generation for not being 'funky' is asinine.

If you ask me he's the least funkiest of X-Men.

  6. sheeit.... On our honeymoon the wife and I stopped in Amsterdam for 3 days. Upon arrival we went directly to a coffee shop and smoked some glorious sativa. After realizing how high we were because we haven't smoked for over a week we went to go wander the streets. Stopped at one of the bridges where a guy was playing this instrument.

I was in awe and combined with my high the music literally almost made me cry. I would count it as one of the most memorable weed experiences in my life, next to dabbing wax for the first time and discovering hydro.

I'd link a clip but my wifes IG account is private :/

  7. His Facebook studio recording is real but the cuts are obviously dumbed down in places compared to the impossible ones in his original performance. I don't get why he'd mime it as it's a good party set (I don't like most of the music but his set structure is on point) and he can obviously perform it with simpler cuts

I guess it's akin to athletes doping to win. He must have been tired of being Vice of every competition he's been in.

  8. FREE G SMOOTH! He's going to be the next 4ourstyle champion of the universe!....

Apparently he's going to perform his set live on FB Livestream at 8PM Melbourn time. It doesn't really matter because he already faked the whole thing during the comp. Don't really know what he's trying to prove.

But I'd love to see him do those incredible tazers at the end of the video.

Steve- would you mind if I linked your video on his FB page, I want to reference those tazers so he could perform them live later.

  9. lulz sym!!

If Jake didn't call him out his miming ass would be at the Finals. And that fucking clip of him scratching the 'ah yeah'.... wtf.... he might as well have Jesus posed that whole time and used his dick to to transform. Redbull Thre3style was laughable to begin with. The button mashers really put me off and now this.

  10. The above comment of mine you quoted was to enable a 1210 to connect a iOS DVS scenario, a raiden fader in that setup would actually require more cables.

if you have a USB turntable then its literally two cables.

    Turntable to iPhone to speaker

I like the versatility of the mixfader, none of its competitors comes close it in that sense. But ultimately the Rasteri nano board wins all, no Velcro, no messy cables, no set up = good times :)

yeah i know it's 2 cables, but the cable from an iOS device isn't a run of the mill cable. I get it, it's a cool new idea. I personally feel it lacks in the just basic functions when you're tied to a device. Don't quote me but it looks to be an iOS thing only at this time. I feel that sticking to just bluetooth capabilities hinders it from being used in more basic situations. It's nice and I'm pretty sure it feels solid for a portable fader.

And yes, Rasteri is the kang with this portable modding stuff.

  11.

How do you connect the technics to mixfader?

It's about how you connect a turntable to a soundcard/interface and then to your phone or computer, the mixfader jus Bluetooth connects to your computer or phone.

For a technic you'd have to hook it up to a DVS interface, and then for instance on a iPhone you'd use camera connection kit to connect a USB device to a iPhone.

This is my issue with the Mixfader. It only has a bluetooth connection. If they added physical connections then it would put it side by side with the Raiden/JDX/Trigga/Frisk. To use it with vinyl and portable TT's you have to get various connections to link with an iPad/Mac. Though the connections on the current portable faders can be a little cumbersome you're not locked into one platform.

I liked the idea last year and the demo/promo vids were 'cool' but overall I'm still not impressed.

The Raiden with the innofader is what I'm really looking forward too.

  12. Since you're getting your garage fixed up and I'm assuming you'll be putting in walls look into soundproof insulation. Roxul makes sound proof specific insulation. But this isn't going to work if you don't plan on putting up walls. But if you do then look into this brand of insulation.

I have even heard of making panels with this specific insulation between it. So determine how big a panel you want, make a frame out of 2x4 and then cut a piece of insulation to fit in between it and then cover the thing with cloth. This will absorb a lot of sound. So if you don't plan on putting up walls, just make a shit load of panels and place them where the sound is aimed at.

  13. I have an innofader in my 909. It's actually the innofader that was made specifically for it. I believe you can use the new inno pro 2 in the 909.

Don't be skerd, the new inno pro 2 is protected so that it wont short out. The inno I have now has electrical tape around it to avoid any possible short circuits.

On another note I do have the original cross fader sitting in a bin. I was hoping to use it as a portable fader but I'm not that much of an electrician. I could possibly sell it to you, but you know, if my inno craps out on me I'd be faderless. My faderless scratches aren't that great.

  14. gah!!! watched a couple and couldn't continue. There are some names I remember and even a routine exactly the same as last year. But as with previous years only about a quarter of the entrants are decent. But who am I to talk, I'm currently having problems putting 2mins of scratching down cleanly. What more if it was a full 2min DMC routine?
