  1. From the very first time I saw the C1, I couldn't help but think of it as the "retarted's midi keyboard". Seriously, there is absolutely nothing evolutionary about it, besides the MIDI IN port. And it is completely irrelevant anymore, because of Traktor/Serato.

And by the way, that MIDI IN option is sported on the PDX3000. At around 1/5 of the price, 4/5 of the size and 3/5 of the weight. Minus those little buttons adding up on the C1 nothing else but overall maintenance cost.

  2. Since DVS is allowed, all features should be allowed. Trying to impose certain barriers will only confuse people. Just make it clear what will be counted in during the judging process. If you tell people that any sort of pad action will be disregarded, then you are covered for the cue point part. DJs will just use cue points for jumping to certain song parts and nothing else.

If you try to incorporate specific rules around DVS use, then you might drag yourself into the Traktor/Serato debate.

Anyway, just publish a clear set of judging points and let people do their thing.

If it was on me, I would go for the following things:

    1. Creativity on song part use

    2. Variety of patterns

    3. Technical (executional) skills

    4. Speed

    5. Body tricks (?)

    6. Weak side use
