  1. Guys, thanks for all the replies! I guess I'll go for the Numark. Now, the question is this: has the PT-Touring the same guts & performance as the PT01? I really like the idea of the suitcase, but the price difference troubles me, as I am not sure why the Touring is cheaper from the PT01. Any thoughts?
  2. Greetings mobile scratch heads! I'm planning to go mobile too. So, which one is a better option? The Numark PT01 or the Vestax Handy Trax? Which one would you prefer for those trekking cuts? Shape wise, I like the Numark more, cause it's smaller. But is the platter any good? Maybe the Vestax can take more abuse? Also, I've seen the Numark PT - Touring, the one with the suitcase. Is the motor / tonearm the same as the PT01 or am I missing something? Why is it cheaper than the PT01? Share your wisdom and save a brother some bucks!
  3. It's a very difficult thing to accept the contribution of someone in a hobby/culture/artform so small like ours, without taking into consideration their character quality. I'm almost convinced by you that Rucker could have helped this scene to progress even more, but I refuse out of personal beliefs to support and acknoledge people who simply cannot behave in a good manner. Talking shit towards everyone (and usually behind their backs or remotely via a PC) is not hiphop culture, that's plain street bumb/ e-thug attitude. Disk & Flare might talked loudly last year against Q, but they contained themselves towards that person only, which happened to be their peer too. Nevertheless though, it's always the question of "whatever means necessary". I guess everyone had to put up with a bumb, cause he was actually contributing at the same time, and that probably happened for a few years back in ASIS and Funkshitup. But he is not helping or contributing any further since years, so there's no reason to play along anymore. The same goes for others like Yogafrog. It's time for masks to fall and for the rest to move forward.
  4. Rockwell, it's good that you mentioned those legends. Personally, my no1 favorite old school legend is Flare. And I strongly believe that Disk has been the biggest influence on Q, not MMM or D. But these people are a league of their own. Anybody can identify them, and there's a good reason for that. They never ranted about new DJs not recognizing them. Any rant I've seen has been against their peers, not people who might look up to them. That's the most important difference with this is prick we've been talking about.
  5. Jam, no disrespect, but everything you mention is like 10 years ago and probably subjective. I've first noticed delayed flares from the ISP dudes, not him. Did they bite him? I highly doubt. I tried to listen to Schetchbook once, and that shit sounded like a exhausting attempt to midi connect as many foot samplers as possible, sparkled with shitloads of echo delays in auto loop. Maybe I remember it in a wrong way, but I wouldn't waste another hour for it. That C1 still looks to me like a retarded man's midi keyboard. Nothing on that turntable is usefull, besides the midi port. And it's already proven that there were a lot people involved in it, aside from the one who still tries to take total credit for it. Asisphonics tutorials? Been there, after I purchased my copy of DIY 1. After a week, I was back on that DVD. Scratch drumming? Who does that anymore? Actually, who bothered with that, ever? That's probably the least popular style and there's a good reason why, it gets boring really fast. Battle credentials? Where? In a forum? There have been ITF, WTK, B4B, DV and other scratch battles in the last 15 years, never seen him around.
  6. I guess the real problem will be the audio interface. All current iOS/Android apps are not running DVS signal, only the software/controller part.
  7. Thanks for the kudos Pete, I can't remeber where I first saw it written, lol! Regarding the music, his shit always sounded soft to me and over-produced just to prove a point that was nowhere to be found. As for the cuts, there is not much to say about something that is not available to the public. He might have been at some point, but that was like 10 years ago, when someone could still check him out on a regular basis.
  8. I dunno about you Arkei, but I find his beats weak, to say the least, and his whole "contribution" to scratching a self-overglorified shitstorm of endless monologues, like the ones you mention. Being nice and taking it easy to such pricks doesn't prove you polite and civilized, it just fuels their trolling persona. We should really clarify a few things. Claiming something yourself doesn't actually means you own it. Anybody can claim whatever they want. It's the others who define the status of the one, i.e. history. And I am 100% sure that this shitbag will go down in history only as the biggest clown ever to touch a turntable. Seriously and by facts, he actually never contibuted anything by his own. Every single project/idea he claims as his own, always involved at least another individual, name it D, Woody or whatever. So what sort of individual greatness is that? And why we should keep on behaving nice and easy? This is not 2003, such morons should be wiped out of the face of scratch for good.
  9. Shitbags like Rucker should be ferociously attacked any time they decide to crawl back from their fuckcaves. I don't care if he actually contributed anyhing at some point in time, any fucktard like him who is nothing but an ungratefull piece of shit should be attacked with no mercy by everyone. That douche never showed any appreciation for D Styles or anybody else who actually helped him shine a bit, yet he is still demanding respect and acknowledgement by everyone else. Fuckouttahere. I don't hang out with Ruftone, nor I ever did any cuts with him, but he was the first person to explain to me about Vestax mixers and M44-7s, back in 2003 at Underground Solu'shn, and he saved me tons of money. All that while being a UK DMC champ. This is actual positive contribution to our artform and that's why I will always be on the side of Ruftone and against that prick.
  10. I'm not sure why this whole thing got so sentimental. This is classic Rucker BS, we got a proverb over here for that: rule the people by dividing them constantly. That pretty much sums it. This prick has been doing the same routine almost 15 years now. Post a file this, post a file that. Whatever dude, post a file yourself first and then demand for a response. Hasn't anybody taught this cunt any manners and proper etiquette? I'm all with Ruftone on this one. The most horrible thing you can do to this fool is to profit of his ass, make those Tees and sell them like hot cakes!
  11. Nah, mixing on crap speakers will most probably end in a disaster. Using crap speakers for later reference though, is a completely different story. As for mixing in mono vs stereo, it depends on how much you are using the stereo field anyway. If your sounds are all speudo-stereo, it won't make any difference on how you mix them. And 99% of the music produced these days is pseudo-stereo, not true stereo.
  12. I own one and is an absolutely brilliant controller for Serato DJ. You won't find it usefull for anything else besides SDJ, but in that field it killed every other piece out there, including the Dicers. Superb build quality, on spot design and great feel. It is now probably discontinued because they are preparing the mk2 version of it, with RGB pads. Better hold your money for the new version or wait and cop a second hand mk1 for half the price. I'm def getting the mk2 when it is out, but I will also keep the mk1 as a backup.
  13. Flash's status skyrocketed through Blondie and his association with Debbie Harry, which is directly connected to Furious Five and the huge mass appeal of The Message. Flash might be one of the true pioneers of hip hop DJing and turntablism, no argue on that, but his overall star status was created as part of the Furious Five (even though he didn't do shit about those recordings) and not because of his scratching. Bringing the discussion back in line with the actual events, this whole Flash-Milli Vanilli thing blew out after Flash's claim that Graffiti was never part of the Hip Hop Culture. Apparently, this statement struck so many chords that a lot of old stories surfaced back. Currently, Flash gets burned on a daily basis and I personally agree with that, as I always thought he is extremely over estimated (and constantly pampered throughout his career), in a lot of different levels.
  14. Well, proper double timed 2-click flares are probably the most difficult thing. I'm stuck at 75 bpm for like a year now, lol. One thing I recently figured out is the way we can perform 2-click flares. One approach is the horse gallop on the fader, hope you understand this. Another approach is the continous 2-click circle, like breaking down a full orbit into even parts, without "galloping" on the fader. This is better for faster speeds but it commands greater control on the record, because your orbit is actually derived from there, your fader hand is only following along, not the other way around as the gallop approach.
  15. I also got a P&G with a lot of wobble. I think it was OK back in the day, but now that we got spoiled by all these new CFs, this is pretty noticeable.
  16. Both mixers look gorgeous! But their prices, even at MSRP, are completely off. For somebody to buy the 57mk2, he must either A) sell his 61 and lose a shitload of money (cause nobody will buy a 61 anymore) or B) upgrade from an older mixer, in which cases doesn't make much sense to get the 57 cause he can get the 62 for the same money. Option C), i.e. sell the 62 and get a 57 is a nobrainer, unless he's a fanboy.
  17. Congrats to Chmielix for the title! As someone (ahm!) said in some other website, 2014 was the year Scratch battles became cooler than DJ battles. And without the DV battle, this would have been impossible to happen. Nevertheless though, I must once more state that the first video of Biox for the final battle is probably one of the best ever battle scratch routines caught on tape. That shit was so flawless, I initialy thought it was edited and had to watch a couple times more.
  18. Indeed, Chmielix was better in this round, but to be honest I found Biox clearly better in the first 2 rounds.
  19. Chee, first of all check your budget and get yourself a new laptop (prefferably Macbook Pro) before anything else. These DVS systems need a lot of resources to run efficiently, but their performance is rewarding, when done right. Now, for a mixer go for a 62 or Z2. Unfortunately, the 57 is not an appropriate choice anymore, as it is not compatible with SeratoDJ, which is already a couple miles ahead of ScratchLive in options/whistles. The Z2 is nice and Traktor Scratch is nice, but it is different from Serato in a lot of ways. Better get a 'test drive' in both systems before purchasing one.
  20. Biox's cuts were flawless. I can hardly remember any other video with so clean cuts for that many bars.
  21. In Traktor and any other openly mappable software you could MIDI map any Pitch shift values on a LPD8 or Dicer, put it next to a PDX3000 and have a C1 clone for around 500 euros, brand new. With Serato it's not possible but with other software it can be. To me, that C1 is just an overglorified, super rare turntable that looks really good in a setup. Still, it's running street price is absolutely out of this world and not make it worth the investment. The real point of this thread though is this, as Steve put it:
  22. I've seen Teeko's clips. They are really nice compositions, but they usually feature other controllers & instruments too, which doesn't make things clear about the C1.
