  1. You have to wonder if this guy actually sells any of this shit.
  2. Look how much someone is selling this mixer on e-bay... I was entertained by this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional-scratch-DJ-mixer-DJ-Tech-DIF-1S-which-was-equipped-with-non-contact-/181230733135?pt=US_Other_Pro_Audio&hash=item2a3231874f
  3. Can I steal that opening sample from you. If you say no I may do it anyway.. It is dirty..
  4. How come I didn't see you in the battle?
  5. Good battle. Congrats to all the round one winners. I wont be so easy on you guys next year.
  6. Nice one man. I'm hoping we can turn this into an annual thing. Getting prizes is the hard part - I know people would still enter if there weren't prizes, but it's not the same without them, even though we obviously can't compete with the big battles in that respect. Any feedback on the battle would be gratefully received BTW, good or bad. I want to try and iron out any kinks for next time. I should have made it more clear that this is open to everyone, not just DV members, cos I had a few messages asking me about that, but if there's anything that you guys can think of that we should refine/change if we do this again (which we almost certainly will), let me know. I like how you have all the vids in a playlist. It works out well like that because it puts all the dj's competing in one place to view at one time. I did online DMC and it was a mess in my opinion. Maybe in the future the battle could have it's very own domain. That would be one way for people outside of DV to feel more welcomed and not question their right to participate in the battle. On a side note... My girl watched all the videos with me and she said that I am the absolute best. So ya'll better vote me into round 2 or she's gonna be pissed. You don't wanna see her when she gets upset!
  7. 1: FLIPFLOP 2: BACKTRACK 3: P NUTS 4: CHINMACHINE 5: TIE NO 6: DJ FAKSTER 7: DJ IQ 8: DOPEZ I had trouble deciding where to put who. A lot of good turntablist.
  8. Good advice. I just did all the samples I wanted through ableton. It worked out well. But i'm willing to try some freeware in the future because I have more that I want to do. Maybe it'll be quicker. I set out to make some musik this morning but I've been messing with this for 3hrs or so. Now it's time to annoy my neighbors.
  9. Well I had an idea while i was typing my previous post. So I tried it and it worked! I had to change the bit depth from 24bit to 16bit to get the MPC to play it. Seems like I answered my own question.
  10. I'm trying to update my sample library in my MPC. I'm having problems with the machine reading newer wave formats. If I take a wave file that it wont read and export it as a .wav using my out dated version of cubase the mpc will play it. BUT! I can only do one file at a time in cubase and I have well over 100 drum hits that I want to add to the machine. So I tried the same thing in ableton because I can export all the files at one time. But the MPC wont read the ableton waves! I've been at this for a while now. Can any one offer me a quick solution to my problem? For example, a program that will convert all my files to the format that I need in one shot. I really don't feel like exporting and naming each file individualy. I've all ready wasted enough time. Thanks in advance!
  11. I will more than likely take this approach. Go to the store and test some out. It's a good idea. I really want assemblyworker to critique my room first so I can make some adjustments as and have something to go off of. Up until now I've been pretty much just "winging it" in terms of sound reinforcement. Looking to build my skills now.
  12. Definitely some really sound advice. And I agree fully! Unfortunately I dont think there is much I can do with my room till I move. My mixing station has 4 windows 1 foot to the left. Still wanna make a monitor upgrade but if I snap some photos of my room maybe you can give me some advice on placement and budget minded dampening advice to improve my sound?
  13. I'm looking to see if any one out there can point me in the right direction for a good all around studio monitor. I've had BX5a's forever and a day. I need something that I can actually hear the lower frequencies. Logic tells me to just get something bigger. But I would like to here what you guys have to say. I was looking at the KRK rockit-8's.
  14. Been trying to promote this. Posted it on my website and all my fb's.
  15. Your right.. There is some good stuff on that site. Bookmarked it. Thanks.
  16. I started out sampling. Used an Akai S01 with no sequencer or recording software whatsoever. Find a musik loop, find a drum loop hit record on the four track and press the buttons to play the loops, manually sequencing as it recorded. Came up with some gems doing it that way (believe it or not). I did things that way until I got an ASRX. Similar to the MPC. My whole idea of production changed at that point. Never being the type to create what I heard before but more apt to just lay it down how I feel it. I had a machine that I could tap out my own melodies, bass lines, and drums. Sampling was all but out the window. I still did it and still do it to this day (rarely) but I almost always end up recomposing them and mutilating them beyond recognition anyway. Another thing that happens is that i'll spend hours making something based solely off a sampled loop I found and by the end ditch the sample and finish the composition with out it. So in a nutshell i personally don't really bother with sampled loops much anymore. Like someone said earlier in the thread, I'll sample sounds and drum hits to use as I please. I do love me some sampled drums. With all the equipment and software available to use today it's almost pointless unless your really attracted to a song and wanna remake it or if you're shooting for that classic, mid 90's underground hip hop sound. Which can honestly still be achieved without sampling loops. I will confess though! I did sample the theme musik for the movie "IP MAN" and made a beat out of it. Sh** is banging!
  17. Okay I'm convinced. I'm officially a fan.. Good Shit!!
  18. Dope. I like your stalls and scrapes, they hit good notes.
