The whole concept of owning music is a total red herring anyway. "Title" as defined legally never passes, and even going back to tapes ands vinyl if you ever read the small print, yuo had fuck all rights to what you would consider to be your own property. How many times has anyone, ever, contacted a publsihing house in order to obtain their permission in order to play a tape or cd publicly? yet you are exprssly prohibited from doing so by the copyright grant that you enter into by default as a consequence of teh terms of transaction. i coudldnt give 3 sideways fucks myself. am more than happy to rent any format of media these days, i've got a studio wall full of dvd's and videos i NEVER watch, arguably i would probably wathc more if had them electronically and could watch them on apple tv in glorious hd. but that means doing shit and stuff and i cant be arsed.
