  1.

Ended up having a hard time understanding some stuff on the beatshelter pyle preamp installation video but it all worked itself out in the end, I installed the biharitonearm from portableskinz and a shure m44-7 needle

long boring installation of the tonearm video here and some scribbles and such to put it through the paces

does anyone have an install guide for the PYLE preamp? It's no longer on beatshelter and the youtube version is a 100MPH slideshow with no info. I'm up to the point where I removed the C18 and C8 capacitors and I'm ready to start adding the pyle preamp but now I'm seeing what looks like the power of the pyle board going to a 9v power adapter and 9v battery? Can anyone confirm this?

hi there I signed up to research about this as I'm going to try and install a tonearm to run a m447 on my pt01 scratch as well. I have found the page from using webhistory, this saves snapshots of webpages and luckily this one is on there-

The beat shelter guide to pyle 444

    https://web.archive.org/web/20160509192429/http://www.beatshelter.com/?p=762

Id like to get the newer beatshelter amp as it looks a lot easier to fit that one but i might try this like you are doing as i have already got nearly all the parts.

What sort of wires do you have to use to connect between the pyle and the pt01 boards, for the three red /white/black line wire(step 10), and also the power red /black wire? is their a grade of wire i should use or is like rca wire ?

Thanks in advance, good luck :)

I had a few multicolors of this laying around from some earlier projects, worked fine for me:

  4. I've got plenty of wire I just don't know what those little metal leads are called I want to make my own headshell wires at a custom length, I'm just not sure what the little metal parts are called at the end this to crimp I'm to the prongs of the head shell and cartridge. Anybody know what these are officially called?

  5. Nice! When your ultrapitch is in effect does the platter speed fluctuate at all when cutting? I noticed that the ultra pitch kit from open-format does that a lot and the workaround they have suggested was sanding the edges of the platter Rim down so it is flat and smooth and that little Ridge won't provide friction. Even doing this it's still fluctuates a little bit when the pressure is applied and it is very annoying. I was wondering if your version those the same?

  6. I think if you open a session in Ableton and put it in 133.33 BPM that equals one full Revolution so if you were to divided up equally into fourths 4/8 you could pretty much hash out the alignment. I believe it is also the story on this YouTube from DJ Angelo on making a scratch tool

  7. you could drop the loop then change them tempo gradually by hand til you get to your target tempo then mix as normal.. or you could map an encoder to control a decks tempo.. I created a modifier where if I hold down the little gear icon at the top of my mixer and rotate my loop encoders, they would change the deck tempo of whatever deck I wanted, and whenever I'm NOT holding it down aka normal use, the loop encoders work as normal

  8. Wsup everyone, I've been been silently a regular visitor of this forum for awhile but especially now with this thread. The shit you guys are doing for the portable scene is dope. Much respect.

I just got my pt01 scratch and decoder board yesterday but haven't cracked open the deck yet.

I was just wondering if there's a reason why nobody mounts the decoder to the top of the deck? Maybe the layout inside the turntable won't allow for it? It'd be pretty sick to have the face mounted to top instead of the side.

yeah it's a bit crowded on the inside but i'm sure if you really wanted to do it you could by grinding out some of the plastic wherever you decide to place it (avoiding PCB's and all that of course)

  9. Returning to the "PDX 3000 alternatives" topic

I have made a PDX2000MIDI v2 PCB because people are asking all the time.

Now has 2 octaves like the 3000.

Just ordered the PCBs. 2-3 weeks until release.

Will this be an all include kit? Just install and go type of situation, or will we need to grab some other goodies?

Price point to the USA? Very interested!

  10. so I caved in and had a few nanofader boards made, currently awaiting on them in the post. Anyone have a list of components needed to solder onto the board to complete it? I'm new at this but very willing and researching and learning, I purchased 10 boards knowing that I'm sure I will screw something up while attaching the components - I'll chop it up to the learning process no problem :p

  11. I just recently did the ultrapitch mod on my second portable with a kit that I picked up from the black friday sale they had a little while back.

This one seems to have noticeable fluttering as soon as I try to pitch it down below 10%. As such, I've turned the stock pitch to -10% and just left it there, making any adjustments needed with the ultrapitch knob.

Not sure why this might be occurring as I never had this issue with the first install but this work around seems to do the job for me.

very interesting, mine was also from the black friday sale, maybe a bad batch went out? Anyway they're sending me a replacement, hoping this solves the problem
