  1. I don't wish to appear like I'm name dropping, but I'm still seriously chuffed that this happened. This is me with Ortis Deley and Danny Rampling while we filmed the Gadget Show at BPM.
  2. I HERD THAT APPEL IS GOT TEH COPY WRITE ON TEH NUMBER 5 SPECIAL 4 IFONE. WE CANOT USE IT NO MORE AND HAVE TO HOLE UP FINGAZ NOW.
  3. It feels like a lot of other games, even all the way back to the original Unreal. But bugger me if that doesn't look amazing.
  4. Ed did the skratchworx theme. Chuffing love this track. http://www.skratchworx.com/skratchworx_theme.mp3
  5. I really cannot get to grips with using an iPad for what I would call regular computer tasks. Even simple stuff like Skype drives me nuts. The 11" Macbook Air is just stunning and is probably my next purchase, and what I would recommend in this instance. Bottom line - get a real computer for real world applications.
  6. And now people might understand why Apple stacked up so much money in the bank. This day was inevitable, as was the stock crash that will undoubtedly happen. My opinion - Steve Jobs is a legendary leader and visionary that has revolutionised computing, music and telephony. I love their hardware and software, but do have issues with their business practices, both in the workplace and wider industry. I think Apple will easily survive after Jobs, as I have no doubt that the Apple roadmap has been laid out well in advance and has Steve Jobs written all over it. For me, the ultimate accolade is this - Apple started out as an antidote to "The Man". Fighting Big Brother was key for Apple, but here we are, decades later and people still adore Apple, even though they have become "The Man". They are massive on an unimaginable scale, with market share in key areas that others can only dream of. Yet Steve Jobs' reality distortion field still manages to make them cool and desirable. I fear that what we'll see after he dies is an Apple that lacks the charisma to carry off the cool. When Steve walks out on stage, we want to hear what he's going to say. It's his passion that has always come through. What we're left with is a bunch of employees who lack said charisma and will probably make the new products less interesting. I wonder if the keynote will even happen anymore. Anyway, his retirement comes as no surprise, and the inevitable has been on the cards since the announcement of his authorised biography. I said when I watched the last keynote that he was quite emotional and I felt it would be his last. I think it's time for him to think of him and his family. It's fair to say that he's achieved enough. Enjoy your retirement and thanks Steve.
  7. A full orchestra? I'm pretty sure that's not in the DMC rules. You didn't think it through Tony. Whether you're into it or not, big up Switch for playing at the Proms - front of stage too. How many Hip Hop acts do that anymore?
  8. I'm glad they missed out the boring irrelevant shit like Rockit and Buffalo Gals, and included the key moments in Hip Hop like when So Solid hit the scene... In fairness to C4, 2 hours isn't enough to cover everything, but a more linear timeline approach would have been considerably better and given the younger element a better appreciation and education of the scene. And Jazzy Jay needs glasses is all I can say.
  9. My inbox is full of stuff like this from whatever productionz etc etc. It's all totally dire 70bpm str8 hood tunez, with a DSLR produced video of thugs rollin in da hood smoking bluntz an sheet. Somebody please point me to some new quality hip hop. I;d like to listen to new stuff, but I always end up back in the Golden age, or have Marco Polo's Nostalgia on loop for 2 hours.
  10. You remember how much we enjoyed The DMC UK Final a few years ago? This does look to be a good one though.
  11. Jon1st coming through. Well done sir!
  12. Yay! That's yet more free games for us then.
  13. A neat way to save on booth space to make way for controllers.
  14. The VCI-300 mk2 doesn't have that issue anymore.
  15. But at least it doesn't leave your computer. Google on the other hand are keeping tabs on you several times an hour. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1379597/Privacy-Googles-Android-HTC-mobile-phone-transmits-user-locations-company.html
  16. I haven't read about it yet, but if it has a games store and keep keep game prices at those of the iPhone and iPad, then I'd buy one. I love gaming on my iPhone, but I struggle with touch controls for shoot em ups.
  17. I'm not quite sure where it falls in the timeline, but I have this from 1979 on 12". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4Gh06N28k4
  18. I do run a non-biased site called skratchworx.com - so much so that when you mailed me, I posted all about the Quickswitch - despite all the personal attacks on me and my site in the past. Ultimately, I'd love to see 2 turntable giants going nose to nose with real beef in a championship battle to end all battles, with all the pomp and circumstance of a heavyweight boxing match. And my retweet was simply to spread the word (your words after all) that it's something that you were interested in doing if the money was there. If you put it out there, don't be surprised if people pass it on. I genuinely believe that it would be one of the most important events to ever happen in the scratch scene.
  19. I echo the sentiment about a public vote. Total fail and becomes a popularity contest and will doom he contest from the start. I have to 100% disagree with you on keeping it country based Loop. I want to see the world's best competing for the crown, even if that means the top 10 might be 4 from the US, 3 from Japan and 3 from France. I do not want to waste my time with Roman Zerano type entrants - I only want to watch the very best the world has to offer.
  20. Just found out that my local exchange is one of the first for the fibre update.
  21. I'm not talking about shunning battling, but simply shifting the focus to the diverse range of performers instead. The Scratch Games illustrates perfectly how a diverse range of artists can come together and do whatever they want under the umbrella of turntablism, without having to feel that they are arbitrarily "better" than the next man. Sadly, I feel battling pushes people down a route that demands a standard set of techniques to be demonstrated, as well as a certain sound. It's only when you remove the walls of battling that people do things that you'd never even bother doing in a competition. Would I go to a battle now? Probably not. But would I go to a gig that featured a range of styles showcasing all of turntablism in a no holds barred setting without the dark cloud of competition? Most likely yes.
  22. Let me throw this out there. Turntablism focusses way too much on the battle scene. How about we refocus on the musicianship and showcase more performers instead. Creativity and great performance shouldn't be about winning or losing. Discuss.
  23. LOL that's sick! Would be wicked at the beginning of a beat before it drops. You're quite right. I did that on the Serato Stand at BPM. There were in hysterics.
  24. Here's one I nabbed off of the telly from the Mo Mowlem drama: http://www.skratchworx.com/bloodygoodscratch.aiff
