  1. after my horrible defeat in the second round i decided to remix an old 80s funk track with the MPC and added some cuts lol [soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/defcreator/fun-funk-beat-1[/soundcloud]
  2. The second part of the Dopez vid he flowed better as i had the idea he had a hard time at the beginning with the word play..i know how difficult it is on this kinda "swing" beat I felt IQ was more in control overall and he came with some crazy patterns although they would sound a lot better on a different type of beat My vote goes to IQ but it was close
  3. no need the delete chins vote as i equalled mines thanks on the constructive criticism and overall positive feedback..that beat was a challenge..i had to hold back a lil to not go off tempo lol (120 bpms i usually cut on)
  4. make an album, find someone to put it on wax and ill buy it, just kiddin..dope as usual
  5. oh yeah just like the Pro x-fade wich has 2 screw cut-in wheels on the inside...the CF-CC seems really smooth..probably hard to get nowadays..my inno got busted recently..so im using the Eternal right now..and it was a close call between you and me to get the 8th spot...now im up against chinmachine so ish wont be easy lol
  6. cuts are sharp and fast...is that the stock vestax fader your cutting with?
  7. thats a dope pattern...dont think i could do it like that
  8. i doubt anything as funky as this will ever be made again thats why i stick to old skool funk
  9. 1 Besh One 2 mighty atom 3 Jesuskut 4 Stutter 5 Fakster 6 Tieno 7 Maxi Skratch 8 Dopez most of the entries were really good so really difficult to choose
  10. im going to vote when i get back from work today..i havent heard all the vids yet but ill do my best to make a top 8 list
  11. i still got a couple of albums and 12inches here in wich i did some cuts but i never did a complete solo album..prob cause there isnt a market for it
  12. i dont have much space for them to put in battle mode (there is a couch behind me) so ill just have them normal the beat was taken from some DJ Streak battle record i got for free from a german shop hhv.de thanks Steve and @Doppelkorn,that's exactly where it came from, it was never a fab 5 freddy sound what most ppl think lol
  13. i picked up a few sounds that i dont think anybody has ever used before so i figured why not? anyway here is my lil practise http://youtu.be/p5BPDWtK4l4
  14. Reminds me of Craze & Klever album "Scratch Nerds" back in the days a simple baby scratch was the shit (Buffalo Gals)...to me it doesnt matter if its basic or technical as long as there is a steady flow and originality in the cuts...how can i explain to some teenager about DJ Whiz kid? I still listen to his records as if nothing has changed over the years..most music nowadays is disposable..sure there still is undergound hiphop but how many real classics are there still being made? Shook Ones is a jam that ppl wont ever forget growing up in the 90s..i just cant find something these days that has the same impact on me..nothing to do with age..i know wack from dope.
  15. The level of scratching is incredibly high in this battle, to be honest it doesnt get much better than this technically...im aware im not so much of a technical scratcher so big up to the ones that keep me inspired to push myself a bit further
  16. i had both the 707 and the 909 in the past...the crossfader is pretty nice with about 1 mm cut in...the only downside of those mixers is that the faceplate wears out really fast around the xfader..other than that it are grewat mixers although the 909 is still expensive 2nd hand i got a Stanton SA-8 with 2 penny giles and a Focus fader laying around here..if anybody wants it ill sell it for 40 pnds excl. shipping
  17. im sure some know about "One for the treble" here, this track was lesser known but still its dope imo..it was also futured on the new Crucial Electro 4 this year so i dug into my crates and pulled the original out for a freestyle, hope u like http://youtu.be/CGsFbzC3XwM
  18. on the M5Gs the -16% pitch position works fine...but -50% im also not sure about either..but i would def buy a pitch mod if they were commercially avaiable..cant beat the low wow & flutter on a 12 The reason why i havent switched to Stanton 150s is cause i had 2 Super Oem Decks a month ago and both tonearms started feeling loose after about a week of cutting..i tried turning the top screws down but they were both really firm almost impossible to turn so instead of doing possible damage i decided to return them both to the seller..i guess ill always stay a Technics DJ.
  19. sounds like a combination of Neek the Exotic "Faking the Funk" and Run DMC "King of Rock" idk if this was ever pressed on a battle record
  20. you mad bro? LMFAO at al the uptight butthurt rage here! still Total Eclipse can mix 2 trance tracks together but Tiesto couldnt make a funk beat with an ABBA song lol!
  21. I mean, the counter argument to that is that mixing is boring and unfulfilling creatively because you're just playing other people's music. It's like learning how to play guitar and putting all your effort into cover songs when you could make your own song. So yes I think YOU (or other people who are more into mixing) would get bored of battling and not of DJing, but other people get bored of mixing and not of scratching/juggling/etc. I get your point and think it's completely valid but def subjective. Most of the debate and issues on this topic stem from 2 diff mindsets; the mostly DJs, and the mostly turntablists. Both overlap a ton, and both are gonna be completely right in arguing the validity and the art of mixing, and the validity of scratching/beat juggling. Some people DJ because they like playing other people's music, some people DJ because they wanna make music out of other people's music. So yea, obv people who are in it to mix and play music are going to see battling as pointless now because it's no longer a direct platform to becoming a club DJ, and obv people who aren't fulfilled by just playing other people's music are going to see that as pointless too. If the reason you DJ isn't to mix, battle, scratch, juggle, or whatever else, then it's probably going to seem pointless to you. However, I get endlessly pissed off by a common attitude found with most "turntablists" / "battle djs" thinking theyre also good club djs/mixers. The other way round never happens. I think its impossible to ask a "mix" DJ like Tiesto to juggle some raw funk break and do some triplets with the snare However i think its possible to ask a well known skilled battle DJ to mix 2 140 bpm trance tunes together using a sync button Exactly my point. Get the attitude? And so that you understand the irony of your own reply: Tiesto wouldn't think he could do that, whereas the battle Dj thinks he can................. Tiesto can twist eqs and filters and throw his hands in the sky like hes Jesus and not touch a single turntable...would Total Eclipse be able to do that? I dont think so, battle DJs just don't know how to do anything on a showcase. jk
  22. that was Born Allah on the cut from Movement Ex, i wonder what happened to him, he was the best at that time
