  1. I was very happy to find a clean UK copy of The Winstons - Colour Him Father/Amen Brother 7" in with some records headed for the bin at work last week... No prizes for originality, but it cost me nothing and I've never had it before, so pretty pleased.
  2. http://soundcloud.com/dj-rock-well/dj-rock-well-casino-beats-91 Haven't managed to finish any proper scratch beats in time this month, so I've made a short arrangement of something else I'm working on. Probably not ideal for scratching, not really what I made it for, but I want to try and post every month so here it is.
  3. Not sure which one that is mate - probably not finished, I'm just sorting something out now though.
  4. I also have a 7" advertising flexidisc featuring Terry Wogan extolling the virtues of Playtex bras - not rare, just weird.
  5. Yo Phil! Good to see you on hear mate... just got to break Ed now. Great jam last thursday, good to have Matt down too... glad he's keen to come back!
  6. I've got quite few old LPs and 45s that a worth a few quid, but my rarest would have to be my copy of "Fuck Compton" signed by Tim Dog!
  7. We had a five-way down the studio last night to celebrate!
  8. Like Kut Class said, for the money a MPK 61 would cost, I'd go for Maschine plus a generic midi keyboard. At the moment the maschine's are on offer too - I think £200 for the Mikro or £330 for the normal one. Even if you don't want to use the software, they are my favourite pads and the sound bank is great.
  9. Double Dutch for me too - kept it interesting with wide variety of styles.
  10. Damn, that's good! Love that start was and the variety of scratches/styles you nailed in under 2 mins was immense.
  11. The Brighton to Rye leg would be another £15. But the real problem is that once you're here, getting back to London would be best to go via Ashford (about 1 hour 15 mins, not the massive dogleg via Brighton). So even though London to Brighton, Rye to Brighton and Rye to London are three fairly painless train journeys, I think it would count as three separate train tickets and be pretty expensive. Actually thinking about it, the £15 to Brighton is a day return and would be more expensive on two different days.
  12. Ha, I understand boredom at work all right... I'm surprised I'm still allowed on Facebook at all!
  13. Dear me Kimbly, ever since you adopted your mathematically perfect face you've become very high maintenance
  14. Fixed. Sorry, wasn't paying attention when I uploaded it.
  15. speaking of which - are there any vids of the last csg kicking about? Yes, there's either 4 or 5 hours filmed on what Russ assured me was a "porno camera" - all with an audio feed straight out the master mixer. The guy we borrowed it off will get it uploaded to avi files ASAP, but at the moment he's slammed with doing sound and light for festivals, etc. Hopefully, we can borrow a nice camera again for the next one.
  16. Damn CirKut, you've got some moves. The bit at the end's optional, mostly just me amusing myself really.
  17. Long before they sold DJ gear, they used to just sell records from this wierd cramped office space in a tower block in Brum. I went there and they were fucking rude to me despite that fact I was blowing all my student loan that day, the records they were charging so much money for mail order were often shagged but listed as mint. Next time I went there, they had moved to their big showroom and the owner had just treated himself to a brand 911 turbo with his dubiously earned gains... From then on they just became another big semi-efficient company - most sales were trouble free, but if you were one of the unlucky ones they were useless, unhelpful fuckers. Inefficiency can work in your favour though... I bought a Tascam CD deck with the little wheel that went on your turntable from them and they sent me two by mistake!
  18. All dope beats, Symatic gets my vote this time - I'm a sucker for that classic jazzy hip hop sound. Steve - great pic... that's the sort of shit that would make a mother proud!
  19. Manipulate posted on FB earlier about CSG - it's definitely the 25th of August.
  20. Call it what you like, we'll be here on the Sunday and all are welcome. I agree that it may not be the most productive session, but even if it's just a sloppy scratch, burgers and a chinwag, that's cool. If people are already in Brighton, it makes sense to do something... particularly for those who've travelled quite a distance Semi Scratch Sunday?
  21. Love the loose, warm, jazzy vibe... reckon it would work equally well for scratching or vocals. Serious props for so sensitively matching the drums with the sample.
  22. Backtrack said he is flying in specially for CSG, so I'm guessing he knows what's happening
  23. Sat in the audience that day, it felt like the right result. Klever is one of my favourite battlers and his routine was killer but Plus One's routine was a the real crowd pleaser... The feedback thing he did sounded way more epic at the time than it was on the vids too. I reckon a better topic for debate would be Craze vs. Dexter in 2000.
  24. Hard to say no to those NI deals at the moment. I picked up my Traktor Scratch Pro (as it was called) when they were selling them off for £250 at BPM
