  1. hats off guys, all 3 of you have made this really tough to pick a winner! 1, Eric came with the funk this time around, and made the kind of beat i´d most like to hear someone rap over! showing your versatility with different styles there! 2, Rock Well came with another top quality tune that and we´ve come to expect nothing less from him these days! If i was to listen to one alone, itw ould be this... 3 However Idle fingerz´s debutant entry is the one I can see myself scratching to most, which i guess is the criteria here really, so he´s got my vote! Now I just have to bother to enter this one to justify my judging criteria!!
  2. damn, i just looked at flights from Spain, guess I cant make this one
  3. Also while we're on The Allies nuts: Develop - whatever happened to that dude? Good question, I looked for him fairly recently...thinking he was too dope to have quit altogether....he's very successful making some pop hip hop beats for famous people...bit of a shame, but fair enough, he's worked hard for it
  4. just a shot in the dark but there's additional track info stored in the traktor application folder, labelled "stripes" and "transients". If you have a backup of all your data , you should be able to copy the contents of those folders to the current ones. As i say just a possibility, this is what people suggested for me when I lost track info - but sounds like you've got nothing to lose trying it - if all else fails create a tech support case from the NI site? they take a couple of days to reply but are pretty helpful i've found. Good luck!
  5. btw, I assume you're not using iTunes? as I see the examples are flac and iTunes apparently doesn't like those..
  6. yeah, do you get the same problem if you link iTunes playlists to tractor? I used to have some problems with traktor losing playlists, mp3 info etc but after i created my playlists for traktor in iTunes instead I haven't had any problems...doesn't help you get the tags back though.... I'm thinking that there must be some way to recover those original mp3 tags though...that's the beauty of traktor in that it has so many back up measures (doesn't install much confidence!) - have you tried restoring an older collection from before the tags changed?
  7. Anyone entering this in the end? Haven't had a chance yet but want to try to put something together tonight !
  8. was there a winner in the end? We should still have a vote no, for the few that put a routine together, even if just a few entries? (sorry if i missed the voting earlier)
  9. Liked Sy's beat as well but voted for Backtrack's beat for cutting over
  10. Nice one for organising this one Vekked! Not wanting to reignite the traktor v serato debate but can I assume traktor is permitted too? Have moved to Spain and didn't bring vinyl or serato with me, only traktor
  11. Yeah I like your thinking Vekked - everyone suggests a track and whichever gets the most votes we use. However, as you say...people will suggest the track they've been putting lots of practise on...we could say only pre- year 2000 hiphop beats?! lol but in all seriousness, I doubt anyone's using them in current battles...
  12. Yea, I guess that's sort of what I was thinking in my suggestion with everyone putting forward their own track, doesn't have to be the competitors suggesting tho. I mean I'd personally like classic hip-hop/juggle tracks, but I don't want to deter anyone who wants to suggest some other stuff too. i def agree on the classics, i reckon quite a few people would enter once they got wind of it as well, as on every modern juggle vid on youtube someone is harking on about the golden age of DMC's etc! quite exciting - haven't juggled in about 10 years!
  13. agreed, needs to be some way of preventing people using something they know inside out, if we want it to be along the same lines as the scratch battles
  14. maybe someone (perhaps who's not entering) just suggests a classic juggle track every month, ie mos def's Definition,Rasco's unassisted, Rakim's Guess who's back etc, and we have a little vote?
  15. tough one to call! I voted for Backtrack in the end...nice set all the way through but 0:53 to 1:07 is crazy and gets my vote mainly for that hand control. Very close call for me between that and Sy(great clean word-cuts) and Flarez (great patterns) also nice from Eric chirping over that beat which wasn't easy!
  16. Really hard beat to cut to! nice vids everyone!
  17. does anyone know any of the Brighton scratch DJs? be good if someone can invite them....its only a short drive away..
  18. hey all, Hastings boy no3 here... If no one is particularly set on any date, could I request nearer to midJune? Its my brothers 40th on June 18th and i'm flying back from Spain for his party, and being that this SSS will be in my home town I wouldn't wanna miss it, and wonder if I can combine the two...any chance to hold it on the 11th or 17 June instead? I spoke to Freshcuts and he's quite up for coming over with me on the flight too for SSS10 I can pick people up from a nearby station if need be and bring plenty of gear, save you bringing decks on trains etc. Also my brother plays keyboards and Sax in funk/jazz bands and would be up for coming to sss and jamming along with us, if you thought that would be cool. Just a thought... Let me know your thoughts...if its too late, no worries, i'm sure there'll be others in Hastings! Rob
  19. hahaha I knew you wouldn't be able to pass up on this thread!!
  20. thanks a lot for posting those vids Rich, great for those like me that couldnt make it!! Is that date of 6th May set in stone? if you're thinking of doing the next one near Hastings I definitely will fly back from Spain for that, and Freshcuts might come with me for the next SSS - let me know as we can book flights. Although if you're thinking of having a bbq, would it be better having it in June when it's warmer? peace!
  21. always an interesting topic this one, and my opinion is that NI, due to them being a massive German corporation with much more budget compared to serato being a smaller company from new zealand (as far as im aware) will completely take over the market eventually...but for now, i think peoples opinions will be divided in a similar way to mac vs pc -ie if you're used top one dont bother changing. I dont think they're dropping the price because they feel threatened, i think its more because they can, and they make a shedload of their ridiculously priced controllers etc. even Atrak said himself both serve different purposes, so he still uses both. Yes you've got video on serato, and its more straightforward, but the hardened traktor heads will tell you its coming NI's way soon enough. I used serato for years but within half an hour of Doubledutch showing me the potential of messing with loops and the live sample deck in traktor, i was sold to the price of 1000£ odd ive probably spent on it so far after controllers etc !! there's so much potential there, and when you combine it with maschine or a controller you're familiar with you barely have to look at the computer screen...wish my laptop hadnt been down for the last few months or id have a lot more to say about it ! ill leave that for doubledutch as hes definitely the traktor expert! so one gripe with traktor, is that the sync makes mixing too easy, well yes, but that gives you so much more freedom to loop and create live on the spot - its really taking djing more into the realms of live perfomances instead of just mixing records. and you can turn that off anyway, so doesn't really seem like a negative argument that point. my only disappointment with traktor is that with hip hop and genres which might not be standard 4/4 structures you have to personally create the beatgrids a lot of the time yourself, and by doing this the sync works and effects and looping etc....this means a lot of preparation for your sets. however if you play dance music etc, the computer does a pretty good job of beat gridding it itself. just my two cents, its all down to personal preference but i wanted to get on the NI bandwagon now as i reckon it will be the industry standard soon enough
