  1. Both flare and yuichi (and q, d-styles) have strong hand on record which definitely aids speed, so don't be hard on yourself if you feel you're practising like mad and not getting those speeds. I have much more consistent speeds /cleaner cuts doing stabs with my weak hand (strong hand on record) that I never practise with

  2. I got the most ridiculous SMS the other day from NHS-NoReply

Dear Rob blah blah blah to continue to receive important messages for your healthcare from the surgery reply start or stop if you do not wish to receive these messages

it's a no reply number and impossible to reply from my phone lol, good job they're not important messages, oh wait..

edit - ha, after 3 or 4 days they've sent an apology sms!

  3. found this quite useful if anyone else was wondering how it works

"Woody tells us how it works:

“If you swipe over the Grind Strip with part of your hand as you move the record, the movement will be broken up as so will the sound, like a fader click. For example, swiping over one button will break the sound into two parts (like a tear), swipe over two buttons and you get three sounds, three buttons give you four sounds and so on.

The more pressure you apply with the swipe, the more defined the sound. This all allows for some very intricate and controlled faderless scratches. And the beauty is that it’s all using just one hand, so you still have your fader hand free for extra fader clicks, cue points, mixer effects or whatever you like. There’s tons to be explored (if you’re as geeky as me!).”

  4. yes Phil! I went to a couple of those South East Mixing Championships, one in a pub garden I remember with Mr Thing and First Rate getting to the final maybe? definitely battled each other cos I remember thing calling him fat, can't remember much else though!

Then the next year was at Atomix with a ridicukous line up of showcases and clearly much bigger budget, Craze, Sinista & Kukoo the bag of bones(!), Mr Thing & Tiger Style, Ruftone, As If and possibly a really young Manipulate? competing... I have all of that year on VHS really need to get round to digitising it some time as those showcases were brilliant.

Were you at both of those? Apologies for thread derailage!

  5. yeah I'm really not ok with this matt, your story doesn't stand up in DV court.....

If they're old in age, they should a) have/know how to use shazam b)remember c) ask in their own forums

If they're old as in you don't teach them anymore, then not your responsibility...

If you're just being nice and helpful, well there's no place for that kind of behaviour round these parts

    asking for a friend hey... ;-) ;-)

  6. Yeah one of those would be cool but I think 5000 odd games would be bad news for me, happy with 21 for now that's taking enough of my free time! The mini SNES is kind of cool because of its limitations and the SNES pads I think .
