I think that best option for money/control is guitar rig + midi/usb foot switch. The only downside of this that you need use computer but you can do some crazy fx combination. It has looper too.

gopro is good because it has wide angle lens and it become handy in indoor shots, but it doesen't have screen which is sucks. try kodak zi8 or 10. they're mad cheap and can give you nice quality image with decent lighting
