  1. hey you bunch of rockstars, what do you think of the kaoss pad 3? For either production and/or live performance
  2. thanks for the replies dudes. seems like there isn't exactly what I'm looking for out there. What I was sort of hoping for was you know Spinbad did that 80s mix and a 90s one too? Lots of doubles and scratching and stuff? I was hoping a jazz version of that existed. I think I'll just suck it up and listen to some jazz albums. I'mma get blunted and listen to Coltrane, and get back to you guys
  3. that sounds pretty fun dude. ...that's basically true, yes.
  4. I have a weekly jazz gig where I play upright bass. It's fun but I feel limited by my lack of jazz knowledge. I need to listen to jazz more but to be honest I fid it a little bit boring. I think I'd be able to listen to jazz more if it were presented by a badass dj in the form of a mix. Anyone know of any super good ones?
  5. sounds pretty alternative. Is there youtube of you guys?
  6. I've had 3 gigs already this month boys! Keep up! ...and that's just dj gigs. wax what the hell, are you in a band? what do you play?
  7. works for me in Canada on Safari. On a desktop comp
  8. was gonna chime in with Endtroducing as well. Could have come out last year.
  9. played at a festival this summer that Colin Hay headlined, he's AWESOMMMMEEEEE
  10. Does anyone have anything to say about the genre? I got roped into djing a night because there's no one else they trust, even though I explained I don't play that genre... so where do I start?
  11. it'll be so awesome when the apocalypse hits and there's no more electricity, because those of us who can play guitar will score all the babes!
  12. you don't need to bar(re), but that's the idea. A scale which you can move up and down the neck depending on what key the song's in. What I'm talking about is often called a "box", like a blues pentatonic scale would be called a "blues box". I'm sorry if you already know about this and I'm just being annoying, but google "blues box", there's images and videos etc
  13. capos are useful if you're doing standards but you don't have a standard voice. Otherwise I dunno why bother. Yeah, using a capo changes the key. I saw these little half capos this summer and almost got a couple. They fret 3 strings max (but you can choke them up on the edge of the fretboard so they cover just 2 strings). They can fret middle 3 strings too, like skip E and A to fret D G and B if you want. So the idea is, you can quickly have access to certain alternate tunings without actually changing your guitar's tuning, by just moving the half capos around. You could have one on the 2nd fret and the other on the 5th fret or whatever. Looked pretty cool kinda. They were $15 each though, and you sort of had to get a pair. Dopp, you gotta learn scales up the neck that don't use open strings. That frees you up a lot to rock out in whatever key.

  15. I played this at the Halloween party last night and it was a great success.
  16. umm. I prefer represses because they cost me fewer dollars. (Notice how carefully selecting each word leaves my utterances stilted.)
  17. I love the wet/dry distinction. I never knew how to put it into words so succinctly.
  18. this'll be perfect for my cousin's bar mitzvah!
  19. yeah that's a well-thought and well-written article
