  1. Pantera rocks! They knew how to play hard ass metal, I've seen em live at least 5 times and they blow up the show every time. So yeah, I love em. And I'd love to have more of em on wax, the only one I have of theirs on wax is Planet Caravan 12", which I love. I paid a pretty penny for that release too, had it shipped overseas, but sometimes that's what you gotta do when you are a fan if you really must have their shit on wax. By the way, most really great musicians have fucked up political views, the better they are, the more fucked up in the head they are, it's a proportional thing. But back to the subject, I'll admit, I'm kind of a sucker for over priced heavy pressed vinyl especially when it comes to great rock from that time period, a lot of it is hard to find and overpriced because very few of those records got pressed on wax. The record people realized this and see the current demand nowadays and deluxe press it up for the people who missed the first round. I think that's great, now I can get my hands on albums I have heard a thousand times on CD on it's proper format, heavy, rich sounding, records. I just coughed up 80 bucks for this deluxe 4LP treatment, and I can't WAIT to get this in the mail. Nirvana - Nevermind 4LP
  2. If doppelkorn gets to rap over yer chorus I should get to yodel. Although, I'm more of a tenor yodeler than a falsetto, so you might have to speed it up to make it sound right.
  3. This is hard to answer since everyone will answer differently. I think it all boils down to the individual collection and what's easy to remember. Collectors that only have 12 Blues records might want to alphabetize them in with their jazz records until they have enough of both to make the effort worthwhile. When it comes to top level genres like Hip Hop, you definitely gotta break it down into sub genres that make sense to you. For me I break Hip Hop into 2 categories... Everything 1990 and earlier in one section and 1990 till present time in the other section. 1990 is an easy number to remember and as long as I keep my ABCs straight I can find my records quickly.
  4. I absolutely despise the Cranberries. Her strong accent pisses me off every time I hear her sing. "Do you have to, do you have to, Do you have to let it Lingerrrrrrrr?" She lets her r's linger too much when she sings linger. Don't even get me started on how horrible of a song "Zombie" is either. "Zombay, zombay, zombay-ay ay ay oh oh oh" What the hell is that?! Yodeling??? Ughh. Sorry, I just passionately hate them, no offense of course, doppelkorn.
  5. ^I don't think anyone will argue those are staples. Here's a chick band that I absolutely adore, and rarely see their releases floating around. Since I got their album "Happy" years ago I've been hooked. File under: Japanese Dream Pop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j996hfmfKeU ^This band is very chill out oriented, best be in "that mood" before understanding this.
  6. Name some *chick bands that you think are ayite. Any genre except Hip Hop. *chick bands - female vocalist with backing musicians comprised of either sex. I'll start. the Breeders - Last Spash I'm pumped that I found a nice repress of this. I remember owning this on CD back in the grunge years. In hindsight, I feel like I slept on it back then. Just got done listening to Lali Puna - Faking the Books
  7. No doubt on Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, those guys can make the Tuba funky, and anyone who can do that is truly FONKY. Good recs guys, thanks!
  8. Either really, as long as it's fairly new (maybe a couple of years old at most) and it's funk. Cosign on these. The Natural Yoghurt Band The Heliocentrics Mr Chop The Budos Band El Michels & Affiliates Whitefield Brothers Those I have a few of and adore that stuff, especially the Heliocentrics. Isn't DAM Funk (From what I've heard) more sythpop\electro? I have a few of his songs and they are far from funk, although funky.
  9. Oh yeah, and I recommend this definitely. Fat Beats picked this massive funk crew up last year, that should tell you something since Fat Beats is primarily a Hip Hop label.
  10. Just probing for funk lovers, anyone in touch with the latest funk bands that can make good recommendations? Honestly, I've been thinking about a brand new funk style mix and could use a variety of recommendations from heads that know.
  11. Weird, then it would still have the crackle and pops you'd normally hear too. You would think it wouldn't reflect properly off clear vinyl.
  12. Is it analog anymore once they introduce a laser instead of a standard needle? One of the whole reasons I listen to records is for that analog sound, so I wonder... does this thing turn records into essentially CDs by processing the grooves as 1s and 0s or does this thing still sound like a record? How would that work on clear vinyl or picture discs?
  13. Wow, what a horrible experiment gone wrong. Almost like when scientists grew a human ear on the side of a mouse's torso... only while that experiment helps people with no ears, this one makes me wish I didn't have any.
  14. Very nice, I'm enjoying this at work!
  15. Good lookin out, appreciate it! Diplo and Low Budget (Hollertronix) have their own sound, seems like people either hate it or love it. Either way, appreciate.it.
  16. rchecka – Severence Package (A Hollertronix Megamix) (Hip Hop, 80s, Remixes, Club Music, Techno, Blends, Dub Step, Reggae…) File Under: A Multi-Genre Party Mix Your End-of-Summer Mixtape A “Chicks will definitely shake their butts to this” Mix A “Walking out of your job for the last time, holding all your stuff, with a big wad of cash in your pocket and a huge grin on your face” Mix Sup guys! My latest mix uses all the Hollertronix EPs numbered 1.5 through 10. I have collected them all throughout the years, and I have been meaning to put them all together on a mixtape for myself and my friends and family since I picked up the final volume last year. I finally got em all together and mixed up my favorite joints on each EP for yall. Hollertronix (Diplo and Low Budget) fans will dig this, but even if you are unfamiliar with their work, this will definitely blow up your tape deck. It’s LOADED with 80s beats remixed club-style with various Hip Hop acapellas spackled on top by the duo. Listeners will pick up on all the classic 80s tracks and samples, including Michael Jackson, the Clash, and many other recognizables. This is a great end-of-Summer mix, very party oriented. Yall will dig this, don’t sleep. The tracklisting is not available since most of the songs used were not labeled properly. But don’t let that throw you off, you will definitely recognize a lot of the songs and samples. DOWNLOAD (<FYI: This link takes you to the exclusive instant download at Official Periodic Forum) Run Time: 1:14:49 Enjoy, and holler back w/ some words if you listen!
  17. I Love Mix Master Mike, he's definitely on top of my list for turntablists. and I REALLY want that White Zombie record he mixed in the beginning of that set, how dope is that?!
  18. I despise everything about her. But I do like to hate her, because for some reason, hating her makes me feel better about myself as a person.
  19. ^All I know about you all is that you too are addicted to Hip Hop. That's about all I know for sure.
