  1. In the process of building a new pc with an ssd as the boot drive, the prices on them right now are not bad at all considering where they were when the technology was first introduced. As far as being worth the upgrade it definitely is, just look up the read/write speeds (mainly read) compared to standard hdds and the numbers speak for themselves, plus the fact that ssds have no moving parts means they have greater potential when longevity is considered.

edit: Also if you haven't already, check out revodrives, incredibly expensive, but the performance gains are outrageous. They're basically a series of ssds arranged on a pci card for direct interface with the motherboard, and the resulting boosts in read/write speeds are mind boggling.

  2. 53 hours isn't bad for a first play-through, I put about 120 hours into FFX getting all the final weapons and whatnot(about 15 of those hours were that damn chocobo race, the day I finally got it I threw a fucking party).

  3. That OS looks like it would be great on tablets and other portable/touch devices, but I'm not sure how great it would be for a desktop. In my case I sit a good 4-5ft. from my monitor as I use my pc from the comfort of my couch, so if a lot of the apps/features are designed for use with touchscreens I feel like people with bigger monitors, or people who use their TV as their monitor will be having to sit 10in away from a 30-60in screen in order to utilize the new OS to the fullest.

  4. Dj Craze mentioned on twitter a while back that he was going to be working up a routine with q-bert, I can only imagine how incredible it would be if Q, Craze, and D-Styles all worked together. Would quite easily be the best thing to ever happen in the realm of turntablism.

  5. Haven't built any PCs for about 7 years and I recently rediscovered the urge to get my tech-geekyness on by planning a new build. Got the list of components all sorted so I thought I'd share with you all for some discussion...

    Case

    Mobo

    CPU

    PSU

    SSD

    HDD

    GPU

    RAM

    CPU Cooler

I plan to use the CD/DVD drives I have from my last build and maybe add a blu-ray player at some point. Already ordered the case and RAM and they should be arriving tomorrow so I'm as excited as a young boy who has just discovered the majesty of wanking. Selected the Motherboard in preparation for the launch of AMD's "bulldozer" chips that are supposed to hit the market sometime this summer and I also plan to eventually buy a second GPU for crossfire(although by that time a new line of cards will be out so I may reconsider).

Thoughts, comments, and whatnot all welcome.

  6. I love the mass effect series, I have beaten ME1 about 25 times and ME2 about 10. The first one I feel did a better job of pulling you into the story, and was relatively solid in everything else. Mass effect 2 didn't quite have the same pull-in factor, but everything else about the gameplay was done amazingly well and I thought they did a good job of making improvements to the already solid play of the first one. Absolutely cannot wait for ME3.
