  1. not into metal a whole lot, but my top three would be metallica - master of puppets (as awesome as ride the lightning was, this was more solid) dio - holy diver motorhead - motorhead
  2. ok. i just read that thing and i had to swallow back vomit. while one or two of those commandments might have been on point, they were the ones that should be common sense. that someone out there was compelled to write this, and that there are literal disc JOCKS out there who would pump fists and yell "right on"s about this, is probably why i no longer associate with djs outside of this forum.
  3. wordem. thats always been the thing for me. i have an idea of what a dj is supposed to be like that ive forever been trying to live up to. and one of those attributes is playing the right tunes and the right time. the headphones... i sweat like the obese wetback i am and so i love lending people my headphones for them to hand right back to me with a disgusting look on their face.
  4. i have rachmaninoff on my media player that its. his stuff seems more accessible to me than other classical works; i think its about the piano and the way he plays it, but i dont know. this is probably way off topic, but another instrumental work i listen to all the time when im in a similar mood to listen to rach is alain goraguer's score to fantastic planet. that fucking score is a masterpiece.
  5. theres a lot of breaks that this can be done with. its a testament to the preformer for sure, but i think it also sheds light on unoriginality going on. i watched that as soon as i saw it on there too. i kind of liked steve albinis snotty attitude about it all.
  6. also we should post our progress/tracklists so there are no track repeats.
  7. i actually have a solid fifteen minute segment i planned at the beginning of the summer that i was going to record for the collab mix. i think i could knock it out in one weekend if i needed to... a christmas themed segment is tricky though. i would probably rather just mix some breaks together and then scratch and place some christmas themed samples throughout and mix in some jingle bells or something. i will try and do this over the next week... i have some vacation time im cashing in!
  8. i htink i have a folder of some of that crap i can zip up and put on mediafire. ill try and do that for you tonight. a lot of it is electroclash early 00s ish. kind of the precursor to that indiedance stuff.
  9. thats ragga/dancehall. but im never in a homophobic mood.
  10. i like some lords of acid songs and theyre really good live, but im not a huge fan. RevCo has some absolute amazing songs and then some songs i wouldnt ever listen to... too early industrial noisey for me. im also into ministry, pigface, and nin. all three i still listen to today, not as much as i used to, but i was listening to broken just the other day. marilyn manson's portrait of an american family is probably in top 20 albums of all time. errr... maybe top 50. but that album is awesome, even though everything after smells like children was garbage, and marilyn manson is an incredibly cool and intelligent man.
  11. i can say reggae pretty easily. it can cover all bases... chill, party, and contemplative/conscious.
  12. man, diggla, tkk was, is, and always will be my favorite band of all time. i dont listen to them even remotely as much as i used to, but i still love them. i definitely go through phases with music. where im listening to hiphop mostly, or punk mostly, or electornic music mostly, or reggae mostly, but i havent ever done 180s on anything really. the first cassette i ever purchased was metallic "ride the lightning" which is still a killer album. my first cd i ever purchased was red hot chili pepper's "blood sugar sex magik" which is still their best album. there is one exception, but its not really conscious... once during a particularly fun and joyous acid trip i got it into my head that Korn was a really good band. the following morning i went shopping with my mom and bought that follow the leader album. i listened to it on the way home and still thought it was pretty fucking cool. i was probably still coming down though. fortunately after a few weeks and much grief from friends i stopped listening to it. i never got the desire to listen to them ever again, and i question myself all the time when ever i hear them. however, i still believe that if i were ever to use psychedelics again and if i listened to freak on a leash it might unwillingly all come back to me.
  13. i generally murder people at most of the older fighting games. i never memorize moves or combos or anything, im just really good at timing and anticipation. my friends and i get pretty competitive at: Dr. Mario, Carcassone, and Puzzle Fighter.
  14. i was wondering why it only had ranked matches that seemed to take forever to start. i ended up just playing horde a bunch. way more fun than spending 20 minutes in as many different lobbies for a game. most of my "gamer" friends play codMW so i dont ever have anyone to play gears with. i dont even own the game ive just been borrowing it from a friend, but if you see me playing it feel free to send an invite. my gamertag is el jopa. maybe eljopa. one of the two.
  15. i recall reading somewhere that anonymous were responsible for ddos attacks on egyptian government communication networks during their revolution. thats pretty "good" imo. its difficult to accept anonymous as either good or bad considering their made up of an unknowable number of unknowables. sure, some of them might be slightly immoral curious misfits, like hacking a forum for epileptics to flood it with animated gifs and disturbing noises, but i think the majority prefer to do things more along the lines of operation darknet.
  16. i thought i was going to watch a serious video using the c1 but i just ended up watching a david lynch short.
  17. thats right, my intentions were to make you feel small. thats what i do, i go around the internet and just bash people who are being creative and productive. its like digital vaginal cream and the codex feels cool and soothing.
  18. you guys see the HBO emcee battle? there is a rumor that he was offered a deal from, i want to say, Def Jam backstage after the event and by turning it down he got a cold shoulder from everyone the rest of the night. i recall reading this from an interview he did himself, but i cant find it to verify... so it might all be invented horse shit. who knows.
  19. oops. piss poor analogy. i suck at internetting.
  20. yes you're right that's exactly what I'm saying - there's no hyperbole there! Sorry I hurt your feelings. the exaggeration was an intended effect, like putting a magnifying glass on an ant in order to see it more clearly... would you like less exaggeration and more clarity? you have three or four djs with considerable experience saying the same exact thing: your fader is doing much less than what you think it is. you asked for these thoughts, yet rather than absorb and contemplate them you shot them down with paragraphs of explanations you felt would be more effective than actual video footage. there you have it, no exaggerations and complete clarity... am i missing something?
  21. dude, up until a few months ago i was using my MPD way more than my decks. i have no desire to ignorantly argue against controllerists. ive also been scratching for eleven years now and i am unable to hear any variations in your "patterns" outside of the "patterns" youre punching. there are three or four other djs in this thread with probably more experience than myself saying the same thing... so basically your saying that we are either just unable to understand what is going on, or all of us are blind, ignorant haters and we needed to read paragraphs of your explanations because a video wasnt sufficient... sounds to me like you werent really after anyones thoughts... having said that (curb anyone?) the video is cool and well made.
  22. it sucks. he was probably the nicest emcee ive ever met. imo, he was just one of those enlightened beings, absent of ego, that suffer with every breadth in a cruel and mindless world. we cant say we werent warned... just listen to his lyrics.
  23. yeah... all the fader did was cut the sample so you couldnt hear the sample play through. which could be done by switch the settings of the controller to only play while pressed, so once you take your finger off the controller the sample cuts. you could also record some reverses or slow downs yourself and then map those cues to your controller to get a more varied and live sound... but essentially regardless of your statement the fader wasnt doing anything, especially during the "crabs," with the exception of allowing an audience to perceive it otherwise.
