  1. i love how people believe that human idiocy only exists in the scenes they arent a part of.
  2. respect. i thought youve been here for ages.
  3. dmc world championship results from '00 to '11: USA: 5 France: 3 UK, Japan, Canada, and Germany: 1
  4. eh, thats very different. im sure there are many things in both of their lyrics thats purely confected for their persona... its more shock art than actual expression. not knocking it at all... i dont listen to either of them, but necro's beats are slick and i know he makes them all. hes an artist for sure, but i dont think he lives by everything in his lyrics. i mean, i am assuming since he isnt incarcerated.
  5. yeah, they really do. and even white suburbanites get to now that every top 40 dj around here throws in a foot work song or two every hour. i guess it doesnt even matter because ive witnessed legions of drunk shiny bitches convulsing on the floor to that one fergie song with the really fast electro break in the middle of a sports bar thinking they were "footworking."
  6. what options do you guys have in "art of noise?"
  7. im really no good at this whole blogosphere revolution thing, but i like negrophonic.com its dj ruptures blog about what ev. i have received solid book, record, and film recommendations from there. earmilk.com is a hipster ish dj blog good for club/party music without having to think too much about it. residentadvisor.net which is a pretty cool aggregate site.... meaning it pulls articles and mp3s from all kinds of dj/electronic music blogs. aside from that i get all my music info and suggestions from friends and rolling stone.
  8. it was between jon, jim, and symatic for me... gave it to jon.
  9. i started collecting records for djing seriously in '99 after seeing the beat junkies on the word of mouth tour. by the end of january '00 a friend had a set of decks which we used for hours everyday. we learned from listening to mixtapes, primarily from the beat junkies and the vinyl addicts, and from a couple dmc videos we had. while there may have been the internet for more affluent americans at this time, there was certainly no internet for poor mexican americans in rural illinois. beavo and i taught ourselves alone in a basement where only the two of us could hear the constant sucking that would continue for almost a year. eventually we started noticing we didnt suck anymore, so thought we might try and use it to get laid which meant we didnt scratch as much any more and instead played shitty chicago house.
  10. hello. jopa. djing since '00. im always reading; not always speaking. im american; i dont know what "hull" is. i really love scratching, thats why im here, but i cannot juggle to save a life. why does youtube make it look so easy?
  11. yeah, i dont want to have to buy a ps3 for this, but i think it may be worth it.
  12. yeah, its funny. it could have been more serious and in a similar tone as the track, but what evs... clever, creative, and fun, what more should one expect?
  13. kut got it from me... as some seemed to be just looped samples and others more fully worked tracks i decided to go purely on feel and vibe. runners up: symatic and dopp.
  14. is anyone having problems with netflix playback? i have had no issues with the new dashboard whatsoever, but whenever i try and watch a movie from netflix its very low quality and eventually loses connection causing me to have to reset my modem and router for the whole network.
  15. yeah i bought theyre last one. it was one of the last cds i paid for. im def going to cop the new one since theyve been working with those two guys from tv on the radio. the track they did on colbert was fucking awesome. the first disc is very different from that though... its like middle eastern psychedelic prog rock.
  16. while the "everyone loves you after your dead" rule does apply here, i think its off to say hes overrated. "overreated" implies he was rated as in given recognition during his lifetime for his achievements. dilla died penniless and with considerable medical debt and no one besides hiphop djs and producers could even tell you who he is. overrated is way off the mark...
  17. if i hear something i dont like it will probably change my opinion of the artist. i have no problem using breaks and beats from artists i dont support, but i would never allow more than a catchy hook to infiltrate my mix. if its something theyve said outside of their art, it might change my opinion of them a little, but it wouldnt necessarily compel me to boycott their music. i have never been a big krs one fan. i like a few bdp joints, but mostly for the beats...
  18. dude... ok computer. its that one after the first two and before kid a. its fucking steller man, revisit it.
