  1. uhmm... angelo badalmenti is white... and not a jazz musician. he is a composer who was emulating a particular style for david lynch. "all jazz though, really, is up for debate and discussion." -the last sentence in my original post.
  2. thats sounds cool, homie... like cool jazz. however, the composer isnt a jazz composer he is very avant garde and collaborates with many different types of musicians. all jazz though, really, is up for debate and discussion.
  3. i dont. i really suck at internetting. ive been meaning to make a soundcloud for about a year now, but i keep hearing horror stories of people paying for their services and then having all their mixes denied for copyright issues. i dont like mixcloud because they dont have easy download features. i just upload my mixes to mediafire and then put a link on facebook. depending on the style i get like 30 to 50 people to download them. but then they get lost beneath regular posts and such that no one new ever sees them. when the rvm mix was complete i emailed somewhere between 25 and 30 blogs that i felt would be interested in the mix and not a single one emailed back or ever wrote up the rvm. it blew my mind really... i sent attachments in the email with links, jpegs, and pdfs so they could basically look at the website offline and directdownload and streaming links... no one bit. i gave up. the only write ups we ever got were from chicago bloggers who happened to see us live. my favorite quote was "the RVM are the synchronized swimmers of the chicago partysphere." yeah, we were that tight; nick wouldnt allow mistakes. "no mistakes allowed!" seriously, steve, i think youve covered all the bases. aside from hiring someone to do that for you for eight hours a day, or making the next groundbreaking viral video, i cant think of anything else one could do.
  4. </p> this also came to mind, but i didnt want to burst homeboys bubble. you are mean. [sarcasm/]
  5. check golden era jungle... great collection of old jungle and dnb mixtapes.
  6. "Instrumental hip-hop should be banned." nothing that follows this statement could have any insight what so ever.
  7. nick (zerosignal) moved to cali and i wouldnt perform under RVM without him. i still ask promoters to attach the RVM logo to my name on the flyer and what not. still rep, you know, but its probably very likely we wont ever perform again. bumski.
  8. fortunately around here every bar/club has a decent setup; sometimes i had to use cdj1000s but i practiced enough with them to still run things. if i knew ahead of time i would be on cdjs i would just make like five or six discs especially for the gig. when i played out a lot i had three shure gig bags that could each hold around 75 records and each had like six or seven pouches/pockets. i would usually bring around two bags with me and then my ttm56 which i carry in a gun case. i bought one of those gun cases with the foam grid, so i took out just enough cubes of foam so that my mixer fits snug right in. it lets the hordes of mediocre house djs around here know with which weapon they will be killed. this was before going digital. now-a-days i substitute the two shure gig bags with one burton dj tote that carries my laptop, two traktor vinyls, four or five break records, my audio8, and my headphones. i still generally bring the ttm56 around but i dont shy away from more challenging mixers... im still going to embarrass the majority of djs around here. the only times i brought decks were for official rabid vinyl monks performances which were generally on big stages in venues... there was also a few summers when we were putting on a lot of underground parties and obviously we would have to use our own decks for those. local djs would kind of take turns on bringing them out. i just have two regular road ready flight cases for whenever i need to bring some decks out.
  9. i think the reason why a lot of djs dont do this is because its considered the training wheels version of juggling. its the only way i can "juggle" myself. the issue here of course is j-roccs proficiency; it would take practicing each "juggle" hundreds of times before executing it that well. and i believe that is exactly what he does. i think watching waves in traktor would help out a lot too...
  10. breakier rastaier definitely falls into my category. keep em coming!
  11. i didnt post a comment because i figured its superbness was already universally known... heheh. no, i totally downloaded it and forgot to listen. having listened to it while being stuck at work on a sunday morning i can say working a sunday morning has never been so pleasant. obviously your transfers/blends are always smooth and solid, but i can say i enjoyed the track listing much more on this one... great job!
  12. i would like to watch it for comedic purposes...
  13. i wouldnt have caught that either... i dont know what scratchworx or gizmo are. i havent been internetting much since RVM and my band The Hawk split up. no use for networking if i had nothing to promote. "Thank You" came out almost a year after RVM stopped performing, and when that dropped i had reason again to promote something... which is how i found this place from DJF. and this place is an awesome corner of the net to kill time at work... i get alot of useful information here, and even the people who seem to enjoy hassling others or arguing more have insight and a good sense of humor. i actually only talk on one other forum, neoseeker, which is an extremely nerdy gaming site.
  14. yeah. im bad at recognizing that lately. i havent been to skratchlounge so i wasnt sure if it was a cesspool of ignorance or something.
  15. you need more computers to attack the same domain; one machine using the LIIC wont do anything. youd have to go on the anonymous IRC channel and appeal your case. if enough people agree with you they will spread the word through twitter, tumbler, and the like and have thousands of machines attacking along side you.
  16. yeah. bummer. two greats in just a week.
  17. i havent received anything either... i checked spam folders too.
  18. where is that nirvana of a club? in california do people go to those places to hear hours of scratching? if thats the case i may have to move there.
  19. yeah man... if you check the antisec, anonops, or cabincr3w twitters shits been poppin for a couple days now, and supposed to be getting even more intense. shits bout to burn, yo.
  20. im no fan at all. the whole thing sounded autotuned and the track itself seemed incredibly boring.
  21. i thought the 61 looked alright... but whats up with these magnetic faders? i thought ranes came with the p&g faders.
  22. that baffles me... i must be really out of the loop. been using the p&g faders for years and i love them. my friend got a 909 and it felt like butter. definitely noticeable, but i just assumed it was because the faders on my rane were almost a decade old. i always feel like my cuts are more precise on the 909, but i tell myself that using the fader on my rane provides more improvement. these innofaders are really worth all the trouble and money?
  23. oh, i wasnt arguing your point, man. i was just trying to clarify mine better. i actually agree with you completely. i have no qualms with jokingly criticizing your scene whether youre contributing to it or not. or whether youre joking or not. its the false sense of superiority that people get when they berate and belittle others for having tastes that they feel are less important or significant than their own that annoys me.
  24. You were saying that in general people can only find idocy in scenes they are not a part of. I joked that the forum tends to openly jokily criticise parts of the turntablist scene. I was refering to the forum when I said 'we'. but wouldnt that be us acknowledging the idiocy in a scene we are a part of... or you guys are a part of. im not really a part of any scenes any more. my only intent, and without being offensive, was to get someone who feels compelled to generalize and then demean entire demographics to take a step back and reevaluate themselves... and possibly their own scenes, or circles. while aphex twin is most certainly one of the most significant artists of our times, i find no fault in skrillex fans being ignorant of him and i commend skrillex for trying to expose those kids to him. i only hope that for every twenty kids who dismiss his music for having no drops, one kid finds himself another source of beauty and inspiration. i have to believe that, or i just may cease to believe in music.
