  1. Thanks mfsop! Here's the free song download for all those interested: http://fatthursday.bandcamp.com/album/4evr-young-fat-thursday-remix-dj-pack
  2. Hey man thanks for the kind words...well...there's lots of small things that make it what it is...I probably could have went deeper with it but due to time/availability I had to get creative in post with a few things etc... Some of small techy things...standard trick for almost every music video is to speed up playback of the OG song 25% and shoot at 30fps....then slow footage & audio back down in post 25% with the footage now sitting at 24fps which helps the lip sync seem a bit more 'in the pocket' and gives a bit more 'weight' to movement and that 'look' we're all used to in more professional music video work....also some shots were also done at 60fps for slow mo....the rest was steadicam work I did (the walking scenes) and the text stuff was done in post. The rest is just creative colour grading for the overall look and some minor EFX and everything else is just keep cutting it up until it has a life/feel of its own. The cameras and lenses themselves were pretty basic...mostly shot on a Canon 550D/T2i and 5d MK II...basic lenses I already owned. Not sure if that answers your question...let me know if you had anything specific in mind. Thanks again for watching! - B
  3. Thanks guys, the video has been well received so far! Side note...this year I'm looking to do some more 'turntablist' based projects...can't wait to show you what's in store! p.s. Thanks for the B-day well wish Steve! Respect brother. - B
  4. Pretty bonkers...the first vid looks easier than it is IMO...that tempo is like...110'ish??...some of those patterns are a lot more difficult at 110/55bpm than say an easy swing at 70/140bpm. The technician strikes again! Dope!
  5. Wassup DV'ers! So I made a promise to myself I'd release this by my birthday as I'm moving on from ALL my prior projects and this one was one of the last ones. This project was something that Director Mark Valino (AHR films), Ski and myself tackled back in 2009 (believe it!) as a creative which was also my *first* and only music video to date. Due to being abducted by space aliens for a while...it never came out...but here's the first (and second) version of 3 versions that were done for this video. I've learned a lot and got a lot better at my craft since this was made so needless to say I'm seriously looking forward to working with some new artists but wanted to share this with you guys as I respect your opinions on this sort of thing. Feedback is if course always welcomed and appreciated. Respect. SKI - 4EVR YOUNG (OG MIX + BIG TWEEZE RMX) https://vimeo.com/84559813
  6. Haha everytime you say 'bumpy knuckles' I think of Freddie Foxxx...I just call em 'hand waves'.
  7. Thanks for the feedback and for watchin guys, mucho appreciated!
  8. Thanks brother, means a lot from such a scientist on the cut as yourself.
  9. I never post video of my cuts let alone record video much these days but thought I'd share something for a change... Thanks for having a look or leavin a comment...much appreciated. - B
  10. Just get this: http://www.playderecord.com/Dj-Spin-Grip-Wax.html It works amazingly and you don't look like a idiot with finger condoms on your hands. I've been using this for a while and the stuff lasts forever...
  11. Did some cuts for a holiday themed joint: Free download for those interested, enjoy and happy holidays. - V
  12. IQ has a more 'in the pocket' flow which I prefer...and Fakser went off beat a few times in this (and other) rounds so gotta give it to IQ.

    RSI etc..

Chile, have you ever looked at the direct cause of the RSI? Ergonomics play a HUGE part...perhaps your decks are too high/low or you should consider angling your mixer/deck as most RSI or CTS can be mostly alleviated by a more forgiving 'workspace'...I had numbness in my shoulder blade (right side) when I used to work an office gig...after a year I finally managed to get the desk lowered by 2" and it went away. Perhaps you've already gone down this road...but thought it was worth mentioning. Best of luck with it...hope you get back to smashing the cuts again soon. p.s. - Good on ya for getting on the exercises tho...stretching is key and probably a great idea before any of us jump on the decks for extended periods of time. - V
  14. Steve, the ZOOM H1 is pretty good for something simple...records 1/8" jack as a line in for a mix...all you'd need is a Y-cable and good to go. Priced at about $100CDN.
  15. The people in this thread care enough to discuss...if you didn't give a shit why comment? SMH.
  16. Chile, I noticed you wanted to increase your rendering speed for video. Asides from the actual PC you're building the codec used and certain settings can greatly increase the quality/speed of your final output. I use Sony Vegas Pro 12 primarily (and Avid secondarily)...holler if you want some tips on the video side of things. - B
  17. Amen Steve....I think most 'scratch' dj's have a complex about trying to be SO complex and only relying on repeated patterns. Its like when bboy comps started to be ALL power moves...lopsided styles with no FLOW. I've said this before to bboys and it applies in a sense here: "Yeah you can do amazing power moves...but can you DANCE?" Nobody really rides beats (partially the fault of wack/samey beats) and has a *conversational* flow anymore... Its almost like some guys (esp newer cats) treat it like a video game rather than something expressive... Just my $0.02.
  18. Ha, all good tho...ya I could have presented a proper case and all that but I agree with what you said. I'm just crotchety and old so I like to complain. I think ultimately its not *completely* pointless but its a very small niche within the niche of dj'ing...and although 'steel sharpes steel' so to speak and competition is healthy for technical growth...I think the focus on being an 'artist' in competition ultimately detracts from the art of what we do. Just my own opinion tho. - V
  19. Perhaps that applies in a general sense to *some* people but I've witnesses/experienced enough specific examples that basically regurgitate what Steve said...I just agreed. We coo?
  20. I've been dj'ing and cutting for over 20+ years now....Steve's right. Ta ta for now! - Authority Fallacy <3
  21. Its sped up...not a lot maybe close to 5%+ but its defintely not 'normal' For what its worth I work in video production and spent the majority of tonight editing 24fps/60fps/120fps so I'm perhaps I'm a bit hyper sensitive to it at the moment...but I think most people can tell just by the small 'mixer checking' movements in the start its sped up. All asides...like everyone else is sayin...its not that fast...but faster than HE should be on video...but regardless its just sped up shitty cuts.
  22. I can dig it. I like how the drums are all tumbly.
  23. https://soundcloud.com/lapointe-pro/wrayneph More random flows/patterns from tonight...
  24. Is that good or bad? Lol.
