  1. I know man!! I still remember how dope your scratch routine was from the Manchester battle (when we both get beat by a young Hud Mo ) I think the young lad has got the public vote sown up to be fair to him. I was dreading the public vote aspect of this battle and thought it would be an uphill stuggle to make the top10 - as long as I'm still in there somewhere on Tuesday its all good. All the help with votes and shares from you fellas is very much appreciated.
  2. Haha I have a suspicion that this is an old friend from home. A chap who faked a letter from child social services to his wife for an april fool no less!
  3. Thanks fellas. Really appreciate the support.👍🏼
  4. .....Battle mode activated.... So I've gone and done this. I would really appreciate your support --> Register & Vote 5 stars here: http://www.dmcdjonline.com/view/asKYNzAMcg/ if you can please, also share the link and get your mum, dad, dog & cat to vote too. The spam fest has been running for 5 days now so I have some catching up to do to make it in the top 10. I hope you enjoy the video.
  5. Double LOL for Dan & Jam 😆
  6. Ah right I hadnt accounted for that. What good FB pages are there?I know theres lots of popular ones tied to labels & products eg Scratch science and Cut & Paste of course👊🏼. I know scratch nerds & a beat juggling one too. Is there a good central hub?
  7. Really dope juggling and body tricks in his inimical style. This would rip way harder with the original version of Uptown Funk. It seems hes toned down the gaba beats this time, but those vocals 🤢
  8. Whatever happened to B4B? The forum seemed like a real hub of activty for the euro scratch scenw back in the early part of this decade. Taking a look now it seems like a ghost town. Have most of these peeps just moved to facebook groups?
  9. From Traktor POV without official support etc... Id have to agree Phase may not be the answer to my prays. Bob mentioned to me the work around hes gonna apply to catalyst controller, I really hope he pulls it off! To be honest it was exactly what I thought Phase would of done vs there current approach which was always gonna have sticker drift. Isn't Catalyst controller the fretless fader alternative thingamijig ?
  10. Really F-in Good. Still trying to sort something to get down for the gig on the 19th.
  11. Yeah thats what i was thinking - its a job for someone with the tech chops & balls of steel
  12. Cheers Man. To be fair I was more being tongue in cheek about the mixer, as my Wifes pretty supportive with my Music gear. She did ask though, but was straight with her and that was that pretty much...for the time being at least :-)
  13. Question for the Tech brains on here. I'm really missing not having an FX send on my Rane 72 and find myself switching back to my 57 (Also, anytips on how to explain to a wife/significant other, buying a £1500 mixer when you still use the old one that you were going to sell?) Given how much techno gubbins is inside that mixer, my question is whether this is an unrealistic or an overly risky venture - if done by someone who knew what they were doing? (i.e. not me) I had a nice simple send/return added to my 07, but thats an obviously much more basic mixer. I wouldnt need the return as I would just the aux in, which would save space. Any feedback appreciated. Cheers
  14. I would give Reaper a go : https://www.reaper.fm/download.php Its a full DAW but it'll do everything you need.
  15. Ah thanks for the love fellas. Much appreciated. I have another video ready to go with this. The ATA peeps are aiming to have it out next Thursday . I'll update the thread, so keep an eye an out! Cheers.
  16. I've put a together this mix for ATA records . ATA are a funk, soul, jazz & afrobeat label who record their releases at their super dope vintage analogue studio . All gadgets are painstakingly sourced by label boss ,producer and gear connoisseur Neil. It really shows in their productions. The mix is compiled from their back catologue. As well as showcasing the labels music there's plenty of blends, accapellas, cuts, edits, trick mixing & floor friendly juggles from me. Please spread the word if you're feeling it! The full mix is available for free download or streaming here: https://atarecords.bandcamp.com/track/ata-mix-by-mike-l Video version is here : https://www.facebook.com/atarecords/videos/799222187084406/ The videos and the download mix were done at different times and there's some extra bits & pieces in the different formats. Don't forget to check out the bandcamp page to get hold of the original tracks and much more. https://atarecords.bandcamp.com/ Cheers!
  17. I think we need a danswift punk-that-I-used-to-like tip off thread
  18. Whaaat? That Slits tune is certified banger ^^^
  19. I started cutting on both sides at the outset because i learned from listening to tapes and records and assumed thats what you do. By the time I started watching videos I was already transforming with my weak hand. Thats now my preferred way of doing things, but most patterns I can do with both hands with some differences at the extremes. Phil - I do the two mixer set up too, definitely recommend. Are you sure the Tony Vegas & Prime Cuts story is not the other way round? - PC is pretty amidextrous on that old scratch battle vs A-Train as far as I can remember. I wished Id had started sit down scratch sessions much earlier. So much more relaxing for extended practice sessions. The perfect height stool is a must have.
  20. Im currently using Serato DJ and the time stretching algorithm is noticeably way better on Serato DJ v Scratch Live. My issue is I still use my TTM57 for the external effects loop and really miss this feature on the 72...anyway I was thinking of copping Traktor while its cheap to run with my TTM57. How does the timestretch compare vs Serato DJ . Do you notice the warbling issues like with Scratch live? I assume its better than that but any info from someone thats done an A v B is appreciated. Cheers!
  21. When its done well, it's great. [Nerd Alert] Isn't it retrospective term, with the artists making RnB/Funk/Disco music some of which was later termed boogie?
