  1. Wondering if you guys can help....

I'm searching for a specific hip hop documentary. It had Red Alert talking about Apache as the national anthem of hip hop. Im pretty sure I saw it the mid-late 90's on UK TV and was a full documentary about Hip Hop history.

I though it was this one, but it turned out not to be.

Neither is is it the recent Sample This documentary (Incredible Bongo Band documentary). Worth a watch though on Netflix if you havent seen it.

    Any Ideas?

  2. On a somewhat related note, does anyone remember that free program that someone released, going back quite a few years now, that allowed you to pitch songs up/down to a ridiculous degree without massive loss of quality? There were people posting songs on YouTube that lasted like 2 hours cos they'd been pitched all the way down. I remember it being discussed on here for sure.

Theres a free program called PaulStretch that does this type of thing. Everything comes out sounding 'glacial' - i have no other word for it!

With regard to Pitch & Time with Serato - it comes as a free upgrade with some mixers (72 for example) and as stated a massive improvement on the standard pitchshift/key lock. The pitch shift is only in semitiones and not cents though so you can't correct stuff thats only slightly out.

  3. @Mike-L - Can you then use the tracks in Offline mode when playing Serato? Just curious if I were playing a gig and didn't have internet access, nor wanted to rely on streaming.

No unfortunately you have to be online. If you have no WiFi you can tether to your phone and stream via 4G if you have the data.

  4. Ive used a website called phonic mind which uses some kind of "AI" to split a track into instrumental & acapella. The results vary but with most things being usable for DJing with - but also most having some artifacts. I don't think I've ever had one as clean as a true acapella.

  5. Yo yo whats up Joe! Good to hear from you. You still in Leeds? I've been having a few scratch jams round at mine recently, you should get down to the next one.

Feel free to pop round at any other time - I have a couple of Serato setups you can experiment with. There are definitely cheaper options for getting a DVS set up using Traktor or Serato.

For digital - as well as recording some stuff direct from vinyl , i found it more convenient to rip a whole load of borrowed CDs, bought some charity shop CDs & found some Hi-Quality files of stuff I have on Vinyl.

This is a party-rocking mix that me & my mate Tim put together for Soundwave festival last year. Recorded live on 3 decks and 2 mixers: Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, House, Garage,Drum & Bass with lots of classics & acapella-blends , but nothing too hardcore on the scratching front on this one mind you.

  7. Yeah, despite the super-dope camera my wife is already regretting it. The migration from IOS was a pain in the butt too in terms of keeping iMessage and WhatsApp stuff. <- speaking for myself there seeing as Im 24 hour tech support round at ours.

  8. A MIDI patch bay is what youre after. unfortunately there arent that many of them. Maudio used to have one back in the day, but Ive only seen one in the wild once.

There are some usb MIDI interfaces that have a degree of routing. Be aware though there a cheap one doing the rounds on amazon with various branding alteratives that does not work. I bought one despite bad reviews only to lean the bad reviews were true (got my money back though).
