  1. Phol I reckon youd like until dawn too, its really fun and after I played it I made the missus play it and she really enjoyed it too, and because of the way it is it was about 50% different to when I played it. Im checking through my games and my favourites are Nioh - playing this now, like dark souls/bloodborne but more actiony combat, like it a lot Sonic mania - no brainer if you had a mega drive Hitman - best one in the series, seems to go on forever with extra missions with different permutations on the maps as far as I can tell but the main story is still good if you cant be arsed with it all like me Life is strange - never finished it but its a fun western RPG type thing... pretty accurate camera nerd stuff Butcher - no super meat boy but pretty good twitch platformer Broforce - fun mindless platform shooter Resident evil - obvious classic, i never finished it originally so it was fun to play it all upgraded Heavy rain - great mystery game I wont share qualms with because theyre spoilery but if you didnt play on ps3 its a no brainer The last guardian - should have put this in my first post, one of the best games on the system, if you played ico or shadows of the colossus youll have an idea of the atmosphere Doom - incredible. Not for multiplayer but the campaign is the best Ive played on a console FPS Bio shock infinite - not a PS4 original but it looks great on PS4 and its one of the most beautiful games Ive ever played, gameplay qualms pale into the all round experience of completing it Super meat boy - not new to PS4 but essential if you like platformers that test your reflexes Dark souls 3 - brilliant. Prefer the first one but this is still great. Hard and satisfying and totally engrossing Ratchet and clank - back to the good old days of 3D platformers, best on the system Witcher 3 - incredible but I got about 20 hours in and now Im scared to go back and lose more time. Fantastic RPG. Dark souls 2 - id go 3 first, but if you cant get enough then go to 2 Gta5 - absolute no brainer if you havent played before. You have it right? Firewatch - great, bit of a walkemup but not in a bad way really.
  2. Get bloodborne and metal gear solid 5, off the top of my head the best two games on PS4 but Im probably forgetting a few. Oh, inside, a digital only game. Theres loads of great ones in the ps store sale at the moment I remember looking and thinking this would be a great time to get a PS4, so many cheap games that are amazing
  3. It was all about keyboard macros to do things like have a zoom in and reduce mouse sensitivity button for the railgun, I remember there was a bit of disagreement as to whether making a rocket jump button was fair game, but I think creating cool aliases was all part and parcel of the meta game. I miss quake 3, but realistically that style of game can only truly be a PC game - theres no real way to create a game that can be balanced for both keyboard Lois users and game pad users
  4. My 6s battery is getting pretty bad, I think Im going to come out of contract and put a new battery in for £40. Im not wanting for any spangly new features right now either - and I like the thin bezels too, Ill wait until Im swimming in cash or theyre mainstream money tho I think...
  5. I speculatively bought some mega drive games and some nostalgic ones a few years ago, theyve doubled in value at least - Im only talking 80 quids worth turning into about 180, but I might do it again. Not sure whether to sell the mega drive games now or wait a bit longer, theyve probably peaked. I keep meaning to invest in bitcoin too, if Id spent the same money on bitcoin as I did on those games it would have been a payout and a half!!
  6. The rme stuff is kinda pricey, but you could pick up an older model for less - you might still get the FireWire issue though if you go for a fireface 400 or something. Youll never need to upgrade again if you get an rme though. For cheap I do like the NI, good quality box, low latency drivers, direct monitor, nice volume dial. The universal audio stuff is also pricey but potentially handy for direct monitoring effects?
  7. Id get another duet, they seem to be about $300 preowned... Or you could go for the one if you dont need the inputs? Alternatively the rme babyface? If you want cheaper, I like the ni komplete Audio 6. I wouldnt go for a focusrite myself.
  8. Does my memory serve correctly, was the 100i just a different faceplate and in fact the buttons round the cross fader are actually still there underneath it?
  9. I kinda do, to be honest! I want linear tracks and audio tracks, and I want realtime time stretch and key shift. If they let you overlay linear notes so that one off fills etc didn't need to be part of a scene that'd be great. I'd like to see that in Live too, a lane for arranging clips and a lane for adding flourishes. You can do it with midi tracks connected to your main track, but I want it to be seamless. I also want a sampling bin for Live like maschine, so you can sample directly into a simpler without the mess of having an audio track that you have to convert. It's the awkward marrying of workflows that nobody's gotten right yet imo. I want to go from feeling something out to arranging it without clutter - live is closer in this respect than maschine but the stuff they both do I think maschine does better in a lot of ways.
  10. I always wanted an mv8800, I got an mpc2500 instead and wasn't unhappy with it but there's something really cool about the mv. It felt really good ergonomically. I like the look of the new maschine but until they update the software I'll wait, I think. My main worry is that they haven't really changed much ergonomically, which doesn't bode too well for a big workflow update for the software. Generally speaking it's so much easier to be hands on with it than Push 2, but ableton is so much more powerful that I don't really use maschine anymore, I use Live with push more or less as a pad controller and the screen for slicing samples, and do everything else with mouse and keyboard. Shame to have gone that way though. It's a pain to use with the komplete keyboard too. In general I feel like I've gone back a fair bit in terms of control.
  11. Wow these are all hot. Psychedelic reminds me of no guts no glory by yungun and mr thing. Dan's is crazy. Phoenetic's is live-o and doob's is great at that other tempo. Almost arbitrary to pick. Gotta think in judging terms for the most inventive use of the material rather than just the best sound I think... hard
  12. Love it. About to watch the latest episode, great prelude!
  13. Oh and masking taped over the platter around the deck
  14. I've kept the box for most of my decks and repackaged, but when not I've left the platter on, locked the tonearm, and bubble wrapped and air bubbled it to within an inch of its life so there's no chance of the tonearm getting any inertia. Might not be great for the spindle though...
  15. I've always thought it would be a good idea to put the needle search and cue point bit across the record in roughly the same travel as the needle reaches across toward the centre. With higher res led feedback so you can see better where in the track you are - seems like this only has 8 indicators? I've also thought it would be cool to have only half the record actually touchable with the other side having a section over it with pads etc on it. Also I reckon a high res rotary encoder would be better for pitch, it'd take a bit of relearning but you could switch decks easier and be more precise. A shift button could do coarse changes, and scale buttons ala controller 1 could take care of pitch play duties. Pm me my development fees, thanks.
  16. In theory an ssd should be able to take a bit more rough and tumble than a hard drive, couple it with a shock absorbing caddy and you're good. For real tough stuff look at io safe. Their products are crazy tough. Fireproof, drop proof, everything.
  17. Ah no problem! On Mac they call 'info' what windows calls 'properties'. Glad it worked!
  18. I haven't used serato in years but for the sake of trying to be helpful did you by any chance drag your library from a backup of the home folder on your old Mac? That may still have read only privileges on it for non admins, and you won't be admin on it unless you go into the folder info (apple-i on it in finder) and change the permissions at the bottom...
  19. Is there a picture in the middle of the screen? A sad folder, a chip, anything? Does it do a beep pattern when you switch it on? Is there any way you can try connecting to another Mac and starting in target mode? In case you haven't tried, hold down Command Option P R when the Mac starts up, it should bong differently to normal - keep it held down and it should power cycle and do the same again, let it do this a couple of times and then let go.
  20. Stupid question time: are you plugging into the line inputs on a z2? If you're using a box, the driver settings specify whether it's expecting line or phono level input - perhaps you're set up for line input..?
