I had to practice mixing a couple of years ago. i thought i was perfect but realise my technique was rusty. altough my mixing is good, great at times, i do have the odd eppy moment where I am unable to hear what is going on and it fucks up. although i prefer that than playing it safe.

well i'm not ashamed, but i'm damned if that'll be my most notable contribution to scratching. i should really record something new. and keep practicing.

Both times I have shouted out shit at scratch events I have been ruined due to drink, i don't drink that much very often now. dextrous summed the situation up pretty well: tigerstyles had just done an absolutely banging warm up set for an hour and a half, then gunkhole came on and fucked about jamming in the same downbeat groove for ten minutes. The crowd were just staring at each other going "what the fuck is this?" and then i started yelling shit at rucker. he asked me onstage but i declined. he then landed back in the states and started talking about how he should have kicked hte fuck out of me. at that point pretty much all the remorse I had felt disappeared. he is a first class gonad, despite the fact he went on to implicitly recognise that being able to change up to a party rocking set was indeed something they ought to have been able to do, his balls were so tiny he couldn't openly admit it. he gets too much attention (albeit mainly negative) already so that's the end of my take on the subject.

not feeling the dave banner collabs at all, i like hard dirty beats but that didn't move me

I use threeband rotary EQ's all the time. I beat match about 3/4 of my mixes and have no problems with them. I am an old cant tho. pulling off a beatmatch is one thing, but there's soo much more to it than many dj's manage, draw on the likes of house techno dj's, sasha, sven vath, carl cox were big influences on me. monk-a'll tell you about beatmatching, he's a stickler on it. i scratch the tune in then drop the tune into the mix alot. I've started halftiming the record I'm mixing in, doubling the beats so one bar lasts for 2, etc. i have a flip on this where i double the kicks and snares and effectively drum over the top, doing the old 'L' shape on the ups and cross cutting the playing record out and the new one in. another thing i often do when i can't get the pitches to match is scratch the first beat or two in to the playing record, repeat it, then drop the new record.

They are amazing, though I would say for me they have gone downhill with each release. if you know what i mean. best drummer i ever saw too
