  1. DJ Woody Scratch Sounds No 2 (133 bpm version) probably fits the bill? Doesn't sound chipmunky to me.
  2. I wanted to come back into this thread and say how awesome this album is! My most listened to album of the year so far, the fact my wife and kids dig it too must surely mean it has some immense crossover potential? Hope you are happy with it @Clownstyle. I've started playing it off Spotify instead of my Bandcamp version to make sure you get the streaming mega bucks.
  3. The ridiculously shit condition of my favourite records means no fancy turntable can rescue them.
  4. I'm currently using doubleTwist (https://www.doubletwist.com/) - but even looking at that website is confusing. The app installed on my phone is "doubleTwist Music & Podcast Player with Sync", and I think I paid a few quid to get rid of ads. The thing for me is I've never quite escaped iTunes for general audio library duties. I have an old iPod Touch in my car which I bring in every so often and re-sync with iTunes. So doubleTwist will sync my Pixel phone with my iTunes database file (though I choose it by playlist as I could never tell what the fuck it was doing when trying to initially sync 100 GB of full library audio). It's not 100 % perfect and a little aggravating to get set-up (some weird bullshit about a dummy folder to trick it and then the way it handles "duplicate" files has caught me out a few times. My audio life is a bit annoying at the moment. I buy from Bandcamp where possible, subscribe to Spotify, use iTunes for what is mostly my CD rip library. I'm now trying to organise stuff for Serato and have been buying old tracks from various sites (Juno, Beatport) and so I have files coming out of everywhere but keeping it all together feels harder than it ever used to be. I'm seriously thinking iPhone as my next phone just so the iTunes side is sorted, but I don't want to give in to Apple. If I get a new car with Android Auto or something that will help me escape. I should just get a bluetooth receiver in my car and use my phone for everything.
  5. I'm coming back to say after breaking these in for a while, they all seem better - but I cannot tell the difference between the Ortofon styli and they seem similar enough to the m44g to say you should be OK with them. Only thing to watch out for is checking your tonearm height as the cart is so tall it will scrape on your record if you don't get the tonearm a bit higher.
  6. Most importantly, yes, correct keyboards have the Queen's beautiful £ symbol above the 3. Camera seems a bit overkill for Tinder dick pic shots.
  7. You keep working hard Jon, you'll get that second turntable. Only listened to the first 20mins but liking the tunes and skills.
  8. I remember us getting a massive CRT TV in our shared Uni house, must have been 2002-ish. It was maybe 36" but the weight and footprint of that thing was fucking ridiculous. Took 3 of us to carry it up 4 flights of stairs.
  9. Ah OK. Yeah I remember reading something about this, and I know on the mini consoles / emulators they have modes to try to recreate that magic. I guess there's some technical truth about optimisation for that type of video output. I tend towards modern convenience rather than truthful modelling of the past. Plus, even with max nostalgia I've never sunk much time into all my mini consoles. PS5 and Switch are better....
  10. Surely only (potentially) true for old consoles? Or is there some boutique industry making massive CRTs still? I think I'd take a modern 4K OLED TV instead.
  11. Fuck that markup, even I'm not that rich.
  12. Is it usually 500yen for the whole set? Isn't that virtually nothing? My Japanese not so good.
  13. Good advice @neks, I might get the 5-set from Japan, can see it on eBay for £57, so about $80.
  14. Are they 1" - guessing based on the size of the vinyl...
  15. Shit so I need to buy 20 and pray for the gold goodness?
  16. The Toblerone in its original setting, 2005, prior to eating!
  17. As I was tidying the room out I proposed it was time to ditch the Toblerone memento. My wife vetoed me, essentially as I have no other aspects to my personality than chocolate. My kids had been oblivious to it, but had their first Toblerone this Christmas. My 4 year old saw the massive box and said "Can I eat one?". My heart swelled with pride, but I said she'd need to wait until she's 16. So it's now a family heirloom and rite of passage.
  18. I panicked and thought I'd been pronouncing styli wrong my whole life. Google tells me there is a real American vs British difference. Amazing.
  19. Dunno, I've never really got into styli break ins, but everything I'm comparing is fresh out the box so maybe I should give them a bit of time.
  20. I know my verdict on these will make or break Ortofon, so I can't rush it. With great power comes great responsibility. My interim assessment is that the styli don't seem different from one another, and that they all hold up OK compared to the m44g. However, I'm getting more skipping across the board than I remember, so my real vinyl touch seems to have gone down the toilet.
  21. Already in my collection, obviously.
  22. Well I trudged along myself and picked up the new DJ Brace album, the D-Styles/Excess/Mike Boo/Pryvet Peepsho 545 stuff, new Skratchlords album and the entire Buddy Peace Bandcamp back-catalogue as it was on sale (2.7 days of audio according to iTunes). Bandcamp seems to make it quite awkward to bulk download, I gave up trying to use some clever scripts and Chrome plugins and just clicked 97 links manually instead.
  23. I think it was nearly 3 weeks. I thought I could do it in 1 week. Ended up putting on 6 kg of weight after it, which is a bit unfair as it only weighs 4.5 kg.
  24. @savwar got my trophy mounted on the wall now.
  25. Alright, I'm on a Jesus Easter spending spree, just link all your best Bandcamp things I should buy.
