  1. Until IDA start doing live regional heats it's all about DMC for me. I started entering again because I heard the Liverpool heat was really shabby one year and the promoter said it wasn't really worth doing again. I've since felt obliged to enter, to the point where I've knocked everything else on the head and basically made the local DMC heat the focus of my hobby. I have just about enough spare time to get 6 minutes together each year (well... since discovering customs!), and I've met a few people who I regularly cut with that I wouldn't have otherwise and that's far more important to me than a ride in a hummer ;-)
  2. Enter/win/forfeit . Nah man I think if someones going to Poland there shouldn't be any controversy. Last year I entered to make the numbers up but didn't ask anyone to vote for me, I wouldn't have been able to make it to Poland so I figured that was a good way to enter but not have to drop out. Problem is when the results showed I only got 1% of the votes people thought something dodgy was going on! I know it's being judged properly this year but even so I figured it was best not to enter if I couldn't commit. I'd also worry that I might get through at the expense of someone who would better represent as I don't have many routines - I basically have time to do DMC and nothing else so that's all I've got...
  3. I didn't enter cos 4 weeks notice for potentially going to Poland counts me out I'm sure there'd be a few others in the same boat
  4. New Sedge Warbler album on my mates label: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CcFjHJzUMc http://www.addictech.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=61056
  5. P-nuts = one to watch from what I've seen if you keep the hunger you'll be hard to beat in a year or 2
  6. I'm amazed the vids are as good as they are considering all the issues it looks like one or two had to be edited for restarts
  7. I cant see that they would stop you hitting the phono/line switch...
  8. is dmc really going digital from next year?
  9. There're good for what they are apart from the niggles I mentioned. They're more straightforward than the scs3d but not as flexible I prefer using the dicers for cues and loops but you can't do the other stuff you can with the scs3d cos they don't have pots / faders. Dicers + nocturn is a killer combination for Serato
  10. That's what I thought but I started again and it's still on 25 frames on the timeline... sure I'll figure out what I'm doing wrong but it doesn't really matter for now... just need to get it done and it looks ok. Thanks again for the help!
  11. Thanks! For some reason it wouldn't have it until I started a new project and choose a p format but it's all good now I choose a 60 fps format so drags would look smoother but the timeline is still in 25 frames per second - do you know if that matters?
  12. The ttm is crazy but its not that difficult really. The clicks are just a constant 3 click pattern, and every beat has a slice. Basically you just vary whether the slice is forward or backwards and whereabouts in the sample it is and the rest of it just happens as you move the record to the next "slice position" and keep clicking I've been calling it the "Combo Generator" cos it seems like you're doing lots of really hard combos but you're not really thinking about it much
  13. What are you exporting as? Can't you just export in a progressive scan format rather than an interlace scan? I think i tried that but it's not clear... i assume the formats without an "i" on the end are progressive but it doesn't say in the details pane. i couldn't find one that worked anyway... Google just comes back with loads of info on de-interlacing imported clips... i couldn't find anything about exporting
  14. I said this Whic still stands after having had them for longer. - For cue points, auto-loops and loop rolls they're great... but everyone will loop-rolling to death when they've got them!
  15. I'm trying to go mac (apparently when I have I'll never go back) but I need to get some video scratch tools done quickly and I'm struggling with final cut Basically I'm just animating some text and images which is fine but when I export the video it's getting interlaced which looks shit when I scratch with it The only way I've found around it is to export then load the rendered file, apply a de-interlace filter, then re-export. I'm assuming there's a way to stop it interlacing in the first place (the source files are static so they're not interlaced) or failing that to de-interlace on the export. Can anyone help?
  16. Aye - its a bit of a staple at the moment but I mix them with og 3 clickers and mirror them and that Basically just keep 3 clicking and slicing on beat and move the slice around and do it either forward or backwards
  17. I reckon the 80s biggest problem was that mother of all bitches Thatcher... if you don't remember what it was like then just wait till these budget cuts kick in
  18. Yeah mmm did em like drills and called em fader uzis
  19. Camb... Are you basically doing fast transforms by tensing your arm muscles? If so try moving your hand to a grip more like you do for other scratches cos you'll be able to do combos better. It might be harder to "strobe" but probably worth it if you can do it I can't do it on the fader but I can drill the record that fast and keep it bang on time so it should be do-able. I don't know what's been going on with the editing and what not but jumping on someone for sharing a technique they're working on is pretty bad form IMO
